The burger bowls look pretty legit. Denali highway is a gorgeous place when the weather is good. Last time I was up there I woke up to driving rain and wind so strong my tent was laid over almost flat. Had to hole up in a makeshift lean-to against my truck next to a fire to try to thaw out.

Happy Birthday Meg!!! 🎉 You are an amazing homemaker!!! Your ability to make your baked goods and all of the wonderful meals that you make Amazes me, and I have been a homemaker for over 46 years! Oxford Nova Scotia claims to be the blueberry capital of Canada, and while I know a few other towns across the country that would beg to differ, we have the biggest wild blueberry industry in the country. They cultivate the wild blueberries and freeze them for export here. Last year I found a great spot in the bush, put in some full days of work, and picked myself a year's supply at no cost (except the back pain)! This year sadly I got a real job, but I still managed to pick a good 5 - 10 litres.

Pro tips - If you want to avoid people: If it's fishing season, go to the hunting areas like the Denali Highway. If it's hunting season, go to the fishing areas like the Kenai Peninsula. If you want better weather, a lot of times you can drive north above the Alaskan Range and find the sun when it's raining in South Central.

What a great way to have my morning coffee but with you Two 👍 . One quick question did you solve your battery problems? Safe travels or Buen Camino from Southern California
Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully the coffee was good too! Yes, we did solve our charging issues, it was a very slowly failing alternator. With the upgrades 145amp alternator were constantly charging while driving and haven’t had issues since! A real relief. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻

Wonderful video. Great relaxing morning coffee indulgence . We love the Denali highway. However, in one description you use the term “rudimentary” civilizations”. Having lived among the people of Alaska I found that term somewhat belittling. The native cultures of Alaska are, and always have been, rich with tradition and culture. Possibly using “rudimentary” technology in a very successful way, surviving in an unforgiving environment. I’m sure it is not what you meant but we, including myself, from Western cultures sometimes have to take a step back and remember that, though they look different it doesn’t necessarily make them any less than our own.
Totally agree! I never meant to throw shade. I’m more often than not in awe of the harder, tougher cultures that existed before us. I enjoy making objective comparisons in order to wrap my head around how things are ever changing. Thanks for watching and for your thought provoking comment. 😊

Alaska is a tricky one. We got there in August and it pretty much rained on us the whole time and was fairly cool. Mosquitos aren’t as bad as a lot of people make them out to be, honestly, the worst mosquitos I’ve seen are in northern BC. As for preparations, any kind of road safety stuff, spare tire, flares, road triangles etc. Bear spray is a smart purchase, but we never saw any bears. I guess it mostly depends on what activities you’d like to take part in. There’s a fishing season on the Kenai when the population of ppl swells and then there’s a hunting season, if you can be in the opposite place during those peak seasons you’ll likely not see as many people. Hope that helps.😊
