- In this video I compare the new DCF900 to my 4yr old and very well used DCF899.
I also unbox the new 12v 3/8" DeWalt Ratchet DCF503.

I never knew that there were two different chargers! Went and checked mine after seeing this, and luckily they're both 4A's. I had postponed buying new tools for SO long, because of issues like that- The manufacturers just spew a bunch of puffery, but very little real info. Makes it so hard to find exactly what you want, that you just say "screw it! I'll make do with my old stuff!". I ultimately went with the Dewalt platform, including the DCF900...and am very happy. Had 'em for a year now, and they're still like brand new.
I didn't know about the different charger sizes either until I had two sitting next to each other and noticed one was smaller
I just went to Lowes and did the same thing. Also got a pair of 6 ah batteries with a 25% discount they gave me for buying the dcf900. I haven’t had a chance to try it out but hope all the RUclips praises are accurate. I do plan to go back for the ratchet soon
So far for me the DCF900 is living up to the hype. Its a freaking beast! Thanks for watching! 🍻
In my search for a broken DCF899 to use for a replacement housing I noticed that almost all of them had a broken detent pin anvil. The two extra holes for the pin and the pivot compromise the structural integrity allowing it to break under use.
Just saying that structural integrity is another reason why you might consider one type of anvil over the other. Though I might prefer the detent pin that’s more likely to break for usability reasons, I might also prefer the more solid construction of the hog ring anvil for durability reasons.
Cool that Lowe's had those in stock
I have mostly dewalt tools and like you have had good luck with them. I do have a few milwaukee m12 tools also have been good. Torque test channel did a test on the dcf900 and it was a beast. I don't need that much torque so I bought the new mid torque model and it's a beast also. They make great tools
Great video. I recently bought the DCF-900 and the new DCF-513 3/8 ratchet, great tools. Thank You.
Normal use you need to get the mid torque. I love my dewalt stuff. That is my main tool line but I'm a junkie and have 6 brands. Nobody makes the best if everything.. glad youtube suggested you video
Cool tools man I wish dewalt came out with this stuff a couple years ago to compare it with the Milwaukee m12. That new right angle impact looks good. Dewalt should have one
I have a lot of dewalt and Milwaukee stuff
I have two craftsman c3 impacts got new die hard batteries I’ve dad got them at least 17 years ago welp I’m driving in lag screws for fencing and I broke down and just got a DC899 today was split between ryobi and dewalt. Last year I bought a 3/8 ryobi electric ratchet wrench with the long head thing is really good for tight spots
Your going to love the 899. The reason I started going w/ DeWalt was because it was the only brand that I wouldn't need to replace after a year of use & abuse. Thier chops saws, drills, impact drivers, and hammer drills just kept on working. Now their impact wrenches are my favorite tools. I only bought the dcf900 because I wanted it. The 899 is still working great.
I just tend to wonder if that electrical speed selector will last as long as the mechanical one and how much the repair cost would be after the warranty?
I need to do another review on it soon. When I made this video I had just purchased the 900. Already there have been a few times at the shop where the other guy's Milwaukees couldn't break a nut loose but my DCF900 did.
As as selector switch I think the new switch might last longer vs the 899s. That is the only issue Ive had with the 899. Even though is a mechanical slide its still just sliding over a small circuit board below it. Ive had to clean it many time. The new switch on the 900 seems to be sealed up bettter. Time will only tell but Im hoping it doesn't give issues. Thanks for watching! 🍻
@@Mechanical_MindHow much difference in power have you noticed? Does the 900 destroy the 899? Thanks
@@ChrisPatrick-q6k The 900 has noticeably more but doesn't destroy the 899. I'd say the 900 has about 20% more. The 899 is still overkill for many garage / auto jobs.
Are the 900's are slightly larger? I'm only using it for my car, crank pulley bolts will probably be the tightest thing I release.
Sorry to fire all this at you, just would like to make a decision! Cheers!
@user-sf7kl9uh7k The 900 is noticeably heavier, but I think the body is the exact same. I think the only thing they changed was a heavier anvil, digital selection switch, work light, and the precision switch mode.

a word of warning these dcf900 aren't built as well as the 899 mine has failed within a year n had to go back to the 899 just look on RUclips there's videos of these broken, its getting sent off for DeWalt warranty but lost confidence in this tool n back to the workhorse 899
You never mentioned the price of this impact wrench
The 900 was $350 with the tool, 5AH battery, charger and carry bag. There will be options in the stores to buy just the tool. I would guess the impact wrench alone would be about $200.
I paid $300 for the 899 full kit back in 2019. Then it went on sale for $250.
Get the flexvolt battery to unlock full power
I just picked up some Power Stack batteries the other day.
I know these are powerful impacts but the torque numbers are not accurate
Hog ring is stronger, the ones with the detent pin have been known to break
Dewalt use the hoog ring becouse the new 900 it's a beast and the pin is a failure point on this 1/2
Yeah I just like how the detent pin holds every socket or extention so well. I do love the DCF900. It is a beast. It either breaks the nut loose or breaks the bolt. Either way it's coming off. 🤣
What size battery the 901 use ?
The 901 uses a 12v batt. The DCF 901 has become my most used impact now. It has a ton of power for such a compact impact
Thank you for the quick response I was looking at one and was so small I had to make sure was the one you was talking about
Man I enjoy your videos!! Ur friend from Louisiana 🍤🌶🦞!! Btw plan on picking that 900 up tomorrow!
My wife is from New Orleans
You stated 7lbs 9oz., but that was not a correct reading. The correct reading would've been 7lbs .09oz or about 7lbs 1oz...
I noticed that during editing. I was reading the weight oz incorrectly.
WOW, trivial af smh...Who gaf !
my m18 impacts are waterproof snap on was beat didn't you see that video
What video are you referring to? I saw the video Torque Test channel did on then dcf900. It was beating everything.
Have you seen the issues the new Milwaukee impacts are having?
@@Mechanical_Mind no what video I've seen torque test channel but not dewalt winning
@@Mechanical_Mind no dewalt wasn't in it but snap on milwaukee bauer check it out it honest torture. ruclips.net/video/tMUiVVxG1KQ/видео.html
