    My parents had been given the recommendation by a local kennel to feed their dog this homemade dog food beef based meal.
    WookiDog is a very fussy eater and she loves this dog food recipe. We only feed her this mix every other meal, she also eats chicken and dry dog food.
    Once this pre-made meal has been sitting for a week in the freezer thaw a portion out in the microwave and then let it cool. You will find that after sitting in the freezer for a week the ingredients take up the flavor of the meat and fish. At this one week point, WookiDog is now happy to lick up every bit of rice from the bowl.
    Ingredients:
    3Kg Beef Dog Mince
    500g Frozen Kale
    250g Sardines (In spring water)
    3 Cups of white rice (Cook, one full rice cooker)
    4 Large Carrots
    I hope you found this video helpful, it can be hard feeding fussy eaters, and having this pre-made meal in the freezer is always handy.

      Just a rough guide to get people thinking about what they feed their dogs. The hard bit is knowing what actually gets processed by the dog's system.

      Cool. We also have a chicken recipe on the channel, wookidog loves it. Hope the teeth fall out soon, might have to do a trip to the vet to get them removed. I've read that putting their soft toys in the freezer to cool them can be of some relief for them. Chewing on the cold toy can help with the pain.

    I tried a different homemade dog food recipe this week but WookiDog just wasn't happy with the mix. She has this funny routine of trying to show that she's given it a go but really needs something different. She first eats any dry food she can find, gives you a look to check that I'm watching, and then proceeds to lick around the edge of the bowl carefully missing the food. She will do that for a few minutes to prove that she's tried out the food and then will have a little cry lolz She has us figured out, only the best for WookiDog.

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад +2

      I only use canned sardines in spring water. Maybe buy one or two different brands before making the meal and see which one your dog likes the most. There's one cheap brand I've bought before and Wookie won't touch them. Seems like the firmer the sardines are the happier she is eating them.

    Hello!! I loved this video. My puppy is also a shih tzu / maltese. He's been eating nothing but kibble but I've been wanting to switch his diet & I think this is easy & perfect. One question, is this the only meal your malshi eats throughout the whole day? Or does she eat this recipe for breakfast, lunch, dinner over & over again? Thanks again for the vid! Hope to hear from you!

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад

      Hi Joanna. I personally only feed this once a day. We give her a handful of the dry kibble, something to crunch on should be good for her teeth. We also buy meat offcuts from the butcher, it's just chunks of meat. We try to mix it up a bit, she gets bored easily. We make a chicken recipe with eggy rice, she loves cooked chicken. ruclips.net/video/HBLHp8JUW84/видео.html

    Where can we get dog mince?

  • @kimmeencheee8639
    @kimmeencheee8639 3 года назад +2

    How did you prepare the mix of carrots, kale, sardine and rice? Did you bake it? And how did you cut the sardines?

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад +1

      The carrots were grated (not cooked). The kale was a frozen pack that I defrosted in the microwave. The rice I cooked, just add 2x the water to rice when cooking. The sardines just broke down into small pieces while I mixed the ingredients together. The glass dish of ingredients wasn't baked, it's just half of all the ingredients pre mixed. It's a large volume of food, and I've found it too hard to mix up in one go.

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад

      It could be a good idea to see what brand of sardines your dog likes. I've bought a few different ones, all in spring water only and WookiDog likes some and others she won't touch.

    May I ask what dog mince is please?

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад +2

      Just a pre-packaged Pet Mince that you can buy at the supermarket. Normally a mix of various lean meats that a finely chopped, no grains or fillers added just meat.

  • @pashencecarmon6772

    What kind of minded meat was that? Was it regular ground beef?

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  2 года назад

      This one was a dog mince product. You could also use a lean/low fat beef mince. Wookie doesn't like pork mince, and for some weird reason, she's not a fan of chicken mince either.

      From what I've read, as long as the puppy is already a good weight and not underweight then it's ok to feed rice. Maybe just don't add too much rice to the meal. I only feed this once a day at most, it's just a good way to mix up their food routine. Must be said that some dogs love routine, they will be happier just with the same food each meal

    I like this recipe. I don’t think I can use carrots with my dog. When she uses the bathroom I can still see the carrot in her stool. I don’t think she can digest it

      Grated is a good way to include it in their food. Some dogs love the taste of carrots and pumpkin. I think our chicken recipe is also worth trying.

    Raw meat is ok? (Ground beef)

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад

      We do feed good quality raw beef but with this recipe, I divide it up and freeze it. When I do feed it to Wookie I microwave it from frozen. So, in the end, the meat is cooked by the microwave.

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад +1

      Yes. Wookie loves it and it doesn't upset her stomach. The main thing to consider is if the meat is good quality and safe to eat raw. I don't feed raw chicken, I'm too worried about salmonella and e.coli

  • @Denise-ei2pu

    Do you not cook the meat?

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  2 года назад

      I freeze them all and then reheat them in the microwave, so they end up cooked. I do feed Wookie raw meat, only if it's fresh and good quality. But I never feed raw chicken.

      Thank you! I have been feeding Ziva who is a Maltishi also The Farmer's Dog. She is funny about texture in eating certain things. Ziva is white and black by the way and almost 6 years old and very, very tiny.

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  2 года назад

      @@Denise-ei2pu Our dog has a texture thing as well. She won't eat anything if it's too large, but if it's finely chopped she will also refuse to eat. She won't eat most dog foods in a can, I think because of the texture.

    • @MalshiDog
      @MalshiDog  3 года назад

      Wookie hates organs. Bought a bunch of an organ mix from the local butcher once thinking she'd love it. Ended up having to throw it all out, she we wouldn't eat any food it was added to.

    • @bee2833
      @bee2833 3 года назад

      @@MalshiDog did you blend it well? because they just need 5% from the amount of their meal. for example my dog eat 80 gr then he will need 4 gr of liver. also add secreting organs (kidney, spleen, brain etc). you can add lung/heart/green tripe (good omega fatty acid), gizzard etc in the dog mince (maybe 10%) to give variety. so she can get all nutrients that she need. oh, and don’t foget vit E, because usually homemade and raw diet lacks vit E. and add kelp powder for iodine too (dogs can’t produce this themselves. iodine for thyroid function and to prevent poor growth, hair loss, weight gain, weakness, behavioral changes), oyster/heart/gizzard/lung for zinc (or you can give her supplements that contains zinc. zinc is good for healthy immune systerm, wound healing and growth), and last green/blue lipped muscle for mangenese (good for produce energy, metabolize protein,support healthy joint function)
