Very true sir,.. Well explained,. Spiritual sadhanas should be attained without abstaining from worldly life.. There is no escape. The journey of life /soul continues even after the body dies and we comeback to face similar situations.. As Ramana maharishi says "We have to constantly put self efforts to cleanse and improvise ourself"... which is the only way to elevate ourselves to higher planes of self realization.. Jai Sri Ganesha.
Spiritual awakening entails that one has to go through rigorous process of discipline, austerity, devotion and perseverance apart from being steadfast and focused in one's undertaking. Supportive environment is what is needed to continue with one's spiritual practice for evolution to emanate, whether in an ashram or domestic ambience. Lahiri Mahashaya, Sri Yukteshwarji and Ramakrishna Paramahansa were married householders yet they attained highest spiritual advancement. So one doesn't need to run away to Himalayas for God Realisation. Jai Guru !!
You are right sir. We do not really find peace in Ashrams. Peace should be in our minds. To train the mind to remain peaceful and away from social ailments itself is called vanaprastham.

This podcast reminded me of the story of Oshos Ashram and its devolution as documented by a former follower (Abhay Vaidya). It was very eye opening and balances the western version of the story for all those interested.

Truth. I know its judgemental, but a spiritual teacher I used to follow has really expanded his followers and now they all go to his ashram and they all look so offputting. They follow him around like he's a cult leader.
