  • Smugglers left the Patel family to cross the Canada-U.S. border on foot during a snowstorm in 2022. The family of four didn’t survive. Indian police say they know who planned the fatal border crossing. The Fifth Estate’s Steven D’Souza followed their trail from Gujarat, India, to a suburb in Canada.

Depressing how people will understand the sentiment "I would die for my children" but suddenly don't understand why one would cross the border for their children.

Obviously you are in a very comfortable place with all your needs met!… you can not understand poverty if u have had a comfortable life!…

Why do people enter a country illegally and not know things such as weather, culture, economy and employment? People must understand and be careful. What your running to may be worst than what you are running from....

I do strongly believe people have to take much responsibility for their extremely poor decisions. Parents taking such risk with young children is absolutely crazy..

Is it Freedom or Greed that motivates people. There's a price to pay for both and your life is more valuable than money.

You should be ashamed of yourself for saying “good job” to CBC. You bring shame to your family from supporting a network who doesn’t recognize free speech.

How can Fenil Patel walk so freely. We can see he has his family in the video as well. He led beautiful family to tragic moment just to live his own life luxuriously look at his house. These kind of people ruin the reputation of South Asia. Shame on this guy hopefully he gets punished for his doing-
