I've even tried leaving high quality steel shot in my Vepr12 mags and after a while it still started egg shaping the hulls. I don't depend on it for self defense.
My first shotgun was a mossberg in 20 gauge, that was when I was six. I love my Remington 870 more because not only did I win it at a huntin banquet, I felt like this was the gun for me.
Only issue is that the 2 3/4 shell measurement does not mean all 2 3/4ths shells are the same length crimped. Black Aces Tactical Buckshot 2 3/4s do not work for this shotgun for example but the Black Aces Tactical Slug 2 3/4ths will work
Hay, are all the heat shields the same on those 590? The heat shield doesn't look to be level on the barrel. It looks to be slanted. The gap below the heat shield and magazine tube changes from receiver to shotgun hand pump grip.
Frank Nash indeed it does look slanted. I know for sure that the 590a1 heat shield would have to be used on the 590m because of the heavy walled barrel. Perhaps the heat shield in the video is just a 590 heat shield and not 590A1.
The heatshield on the shotgun came on it from Mossberg. It is standard on this model. Yes, it is the M590A1 HS because of the barrel. The barrel is fatter at the chamber end and tapers down a bit towards the muzzle. Perhaps it is this you are observing?
Ozark Bear Arms The actual problem is with the shortened mag tube. The "hilt" of the bayonet fits around the end cap. I'm not sure if anyone makes a mag extension that would work. Then you would need a 20 in barrel with the bayo lug. More money... more money...
Even with a longer tube though, the bayonet would stick so far back, that it would run into the front end of the pump forearm. Plus you would need to introduce a second barrel band to go around the tube to support the lug itself. Notice the 20" version has 2 such bands and the 18" just 1.
I've been mulling the idea of a mag-fed shotgun and between the Remington 870DM and this Mossberg I'm still debating which is worth the cash. The mag looks bomb proof buts its so chunky. The 870DM mag looks much slimmer, but it may not be as durable as the mossberg. Both mags make me wonder how often they might catch of clothing& the like but perhaps I am overthinking it it. I hope at some point someone will make a shoulder pouch for these mags. Once again thank you, kind and noble sir!
Very cool looking gun. I like the "zombie-ready" look. Props for Mossberg for offering additional choices, albeit this is not their first time to offer mag-fed pump shotgun (look up model 200 from 1955...altho that was only 2 -round mag). Im surprised that Mossberg didnt integrated option to keep the tube mag and give the owner something like on-off plate to introduce detachable mag as needed and keep the shotgun modular. Cool, but I dont think I'll be ever trading in my old 500.
Mechanically, there's really no way to have both the tube and this type of magazine. I am sure if you ever pick one up and look at the details, you'll understand why quickly. Thanks much for watching.
I was tinkering at one of these last gun show and was pretty impressed. only complaint is that it uses a button mag release instead of a flapper, I have long fingers so It feels a bit "Squished" for lack of a better word. But that's a matter of personal taste more than anything, neat gun, I'm liable to pick one up at some point
I was interested but passed it up after hearing the mags were hard to load. Instead I ordered an Armagon G12 after seeing it here. Got one from their website with A2 style furniture for 50% off ($350) it was too good to pass up...
Actually, we found the 590M and G12 mags to be equally easy/hard to load. Most of the problems were the cheap Walmart shells as their caps were oddly shaped.
That empty tube maybe could be used for a nice long storage compartment, fill 'er up with oil bottle, grease tube, bore snake, ferro rod, and it makes one ultimate survival shotgun... Great video btw, liked n subscribed.
I really like the idea with a few caveats. I think the 10 round, double stack magazine is awesome and it doesn’t look longer than a 30 round AR or AK magazine. However, I think the 15 and 20 round magazines are too long and heavy to be practical. My only major issue with this is the price of the magazines, I heard they cost something like $140 a piece. That’s crazy in my opinion, especially when I am one of those people who buy 10-15 magazines for all my firearms. Like someone else mentioned, I would like to see this option on the semi-auto 930 also.
The mag is made by MD Arms, even though it has mossberg written all over it. It would be awesome if they used the mag body and modified the top half of the mag to fit the Vepr 12. Vepr 12 fans need to bomb their inbox. Make it happen!
Hard to believe it's been that long. Your achieves are truly a plethora of great information. I would say the best there is out there. You deserve the recognition, even if it is overdue. Thanks for all of it bud.
I have one and it has operated flawlessly.
Crazy looking shotgun
There are Pros and Cons to a detaching mag for sure, cheers.

As far as disassembly/cleaning,
What is different/same with the existing Moss 590 and new 590"M"?
I know this is a bit off topic,
But did SGM give up on
Vepr 54r 20 round magazine???
My first shotgun was a mossberg in 20 gauge, that was when I was six. I love my Remington 870 more because not only did I win it at a huntin banquet, I felt like this was the gun for me.
Honestly, that is how i feel too...just towards Mossbergs.
Bro can you do a tutorial on how to reassemble it

Siren Slayer thank you for the information. It is a nice looking shotgun.

Can you swap the trigger guard on this, with the 590a1?
No bayonet lug?
Jeff Smith yup sucks no deal
Not on a 18" barrel. None of those from MOssberg have the lug as there's not enough length to support it.
Need a lug? gotta get the 20" barrel. The 18" isn't long enough to take a bayo...."dead in the streets" i know hehe.

The 870DM mag is slimmer because it is a single stack. This one in the video holds 10 shells. Remington's mag of similar length holds 6.
I've been interested in these.
I think MOssberg did create a well thoughtout mag design.
Great video. This might be a dumb question, but is that a functioning tube magazine or does that only feed from box magazines?
GK11415 Only from the box magazine, the tube is just a hollow guide for the pump.
chrisloUSA Thanks for the information
GK11415 No problem.
Does the magpull forend fit with the heat shield on it?
I have the 590M, but the Shockwave version, love it..
What ammo do you use?
I'm regretting not having gotten the 590 Shockwave. I got this version minus the bells and whistles. Oh well.

I like flappers too, but i think the majority of Americans are more accustom to a button type release.
That's what I get for buying AKs since the day I graduated highschool

Actually not to hard to load you just have to get a good handle on the mag, i load mine up pretty fast.
@@medinaja85 any feed issues, ive heard a couple of ppl say they have had problems.
@@jerryloo416 i haven't had any but then again I haven't had tons of time or money to go shooting.

I got 15 round mags for 65 bucks you just got to look around

MD Arms is a real quality company, at least they were back in the Saiga 12 days. Their drum and muzzle devices were superior to the competition.
I thought 590 was metal trigger guard and 500 was polymer trigger guard no?
FNS ON THE HIP!! 590 A1 yes metal. 590 No metal
Bill Lai ah ok got it
Nope, M590A1 has the metal TG.
I was triyind to know this, is sad to know that, am going with the 590 mariner better
That thing is so goofy. Congrats on the 13k subs Misha, seems like yesterday you only had a couple hundred.
By yesterday, do you mean 2011? lol We've been at this for over 7 years now believe it or not. Thanks much, cheers.

I cant get into mag-fed shotguns and especially considering you cant run 3" shells
I don't know, have had great luck out of my VEPR12 over the years.
Good video, as always. But these box magazine shotguns seem unwieldy and impractical to me. I’ll stick with the tube fed.
Just something a bit different. I definitely like the V12 and S12 though.
Hutehund unwieldy???...
Have you never seen the
Vepr12
Sgm 25 round drum??
Yeah, these mag-fed pump shotguns are so dumb. Completely useless
@raddocnate Use a mag fed semi auto 12 gauge if you must, you scrub, pump actions belong in the 1800's when they were invented :P
@raddocnate That's nice, do you still use a lever action rifle and a revolver as your primary? Get wit da tiems boi
590M is JUNK. It is far too picky on what ammo you can use.
