- Prime Minister Lawrence Wong says his Government is not done building Singapore, with more improvements to public infrastructure on the way. Speaking at the fourth-stage opening of the Thomson-East Coast Line, Mr Wong adds that the country is able to execute such large long-term infrastructure projects because of its political stability and the collective effort of its people. a SUCCESSFUL long term infrastructure project certainly depends on good leadership and institution as the project may well go beyond the term of a political leader. hence the political stability refers to institutionalisation of leadership and societal system with premise of objective mindset to uphold , institutionalise, and prioritise objective wisdom beyond a particular leader perspective and opinion. this is the essence of Democracy where good ideation. proof and validation is at the heart of good governance. it is also the foundation of modern human civilisation that all current developing countries failed to understand.

PM LW's assertion on political stability and large long-term infrastructure projects has got to be one of his most atrocious statement ever made since his inauguration. Looking around the world, there is no evidence to support the claim. There are countries with long term political stability, but either suffers from over production(China's property sector) or under investment(DPRK). On the other hand, US government flip flops between Republicans and Democrats, the private sector is still very much productive and innovative.
Even as the public sector fails, the private sector will be there to take its place. Singaporean voters must not naively conflate the two and buy into PAP's propaganda.

Lack of political stability and corruption are the main reasons why other countries have so many failed mega-projects. Neighbouring countries always talk about building mega-projects that will help them overtake Singapore, but cancelled after a few years.
Even in the USA, it's common for the current administration to waste effort and money just to overturn policies of its predecessor. All these are done, so that the opposing party does not get any credit.
