Go to CJC RUclips they have tons on information on tires , wheels , backspacing, trimming , offsets ect ect. The thing is not to stuff a wheel in there and lose articulation or driveability
I always run the same combo. Bilsteins with level kit. 17x8-8.5 inch wheels, 33s on my 1/2 ton and 35s on my 3/4 ton trucks, then Hp tune and speedo calibration.
I can confirm that on a 2013 (so this goes for '10, '11, '12), 35×12.5 on stockers lightly rubs the stock upper arms. With Thuren high clearance arms zero rub. Toyo 37x13.5 R17 on aftermarket 17x9 +20mm offset rim and Thuren high clearance arms and minor trimming to the pinch weld there will be minor rubbing on the upper links at full lock.
I went with the 17" Methods that CJC sells and put 37" Ridge Grapplers on em. My 2500 Cummins has a 2.75" and 1" Thuren leveling lift on it. I love my set up and really only trimmed a tiny piece of pinch weld on the back of the front wheel wells.
It's crazy to me that I've never seen anyone mention the concept that stock/lift height doesn't matter at stuff which is where things touch. I've got a 22 Ram 2500 Laramie that I'm getting into now, thinking 37's. Really appreciate the info as I dig in to wheels/tires.
I have been searching for a video like this for two weeks!!!!! Pouring through the forums everyone claims that in order to run 35/12.5/R20 on a stock 4th Gen 2500 you’ll need spacers or a level to mitigate rubbing. All I needed was one video to tell me that I could run 35/12.5 and not have issues to pull the trigger on some Kenda Klever RTs for my Mega Cab. Thanks!!!
Holy crap. Just found this video today. You guys are amazing. Thankyou both so much for clear, well explained ideas and fitment guidelines. Can’t wait to use this information. Will be subscribing just because your the first I’ve seen to take the time to explain thing clearly.
I'm headed to the 6" ReadyLift with all the trimmings and, was wondering if 37s would work out - I don't have a wheel / tire option yet - so, I really would be going out of my stock 20x9s to something else. Still no idea what that would be, with the off-set and the tires.
What a great video !! I got a used 2018 Ram 3500 last year and looked all over to see what the biggest tire I could put on it with my camper so I can go on dirt roads and hide out ....... Wa La ..... I can put on the 35x12.5x 20's that other sites and people said would not fit. Thank you guys so much !!
2018 powerwagon 4inch custom 4link front and rear ,correct drive shaft angles, front axle .5 inch forward rear axle .5inch back 37 x 13.5 toyo mud country +18mm no body rub front or rear , full lock rub on radius arm. Going to 38x15.5 front axle 1inch forward have to make custom 1inch offset drop track bar bracket to work , see what happens gonna be reel c close!!!!
Great video! I'm still new to real trucks. Bought my 2020 Laramie 2500 6.7 a few months ago. All my prior trucks were little Nissan and Toyota. Been thinking about upgrading to 37's on aftermarket wheels. Glad I'll be able to fit them with very little modification! But maybe i should do something about that pesky CP4 first...
Don't do it Mike lol. Your 37s look plenty bada##. U pull heavy airstream a bunch. Cutting and trimming and possibly new gears= more bucks plus more fuel mileage hit. Sweet sweet truck Mike. I ordered my Dethloff engine and trans skid. Looking forward to meeting both u guys in May.
Im wanting to put the largest diameter tire on my 2021 Ram 3500 Limited 4x4 Mega Cab NOT Dually with stock 20 inch wheels. I just rolled over 100k Km on it and Ive only had it 2 years. I did a factory order. I have currently worn through about 50% of the fourth set of tires already. Which I know is insane. I have to have somewhat of an agressive tire as I haul heavy loads through mud and snow daily in the business Im in Im also on the highway alot obviously by the miledge. I forgot to mention I also have the 6.7 HO Diesel with the Aisin tran. Its a very heavy truck and Im hauling loads up to 18000 lbs plus my truck at 9500 lbs. Im eating tires like crazy. Now heres what my latest research has led me..... BF Goodrich K02 have the highest heat rating which is something I never considered but I am now. But here is my other dilemma. I also have the air bags in the rear suspension for leveling. I dont want to do any lifting, no wheel changes, or and mods that way. I just want to know with all of that in mind what is the largest diameter tire that I can put on it with no rub or very minimal rub. I dont care about having a wide tire. Im not after a look, Im after functionality with more circumference to last longer. Prefer 10 or more ply tire for strength. 37x12.5 ? 37x11.5? 39x11.5? or is it 35x12.5? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou
Hello, I have a 2017 Ram 2500 with stock rims (285/60/20). Can I put 35/12.5/20 tires on it without needing any modifications, like lifting it or adding spacers? Is that correct?
I was feeling good about my purchase of 20x10 wheels with 35x12.50x20 tires until you started talking about the offset. The wheels i chose have -24 offset and theyre arriving tomorrow, now im nervous.
Got a 2012 Ram 2500 MegaCab 2WD. Leveling kit. Riding 305/55/20. Looking to ride on some more tire maybe going smaller wheel don’t want any rubbing. Can I get some feedback
Love the video. Question. Nitto makes a 37x11.5r17 and I want to try and fit it on my 2023 power wagon with stock wheels. Do you think it will work? Being an inch narrower than the common 12.5 width, do you think it will rub?
Probably fit better. Awhile back there were tall skinnies from Goodyear people were running a 37x10.50 they don't make them anymore. But supposedly lno rub. They were popular with Jeep guys.
I have a 2006 dodge truck mega cab 1500. I upgrade the tires to 285/70/17. I wanted to go up a little more with stock rims and shock spring no lift. What’s the highest I can go without getting it rub. 305 or 315. I’m thinking of putting 305/70/17 on but scared it might rub. Let me know what u think is best with out rubbing on all stock rims and no lift kit.
If your gonna spend the money for 39" just stuff 40" really just need AEV front pucks(sorry hitech aluminum shock mount) AEV Drag link, right hub assembly/mount bracket for drag link, lower radius. You have the rest of kit
None of the AEV parts you mention do anything to clear 40's. 40's require a lot more, like their flare High Mark Flare kit which is a lot of bodywork, time, labor. Those flares, well price them out. I'd also need new wheels, as the High Mark Flares need a different offset. Also, I've been kicking the "regear" can down the road. Can't do that with 40's at all. So the cost is ten times as much. Easily - 5-7 grand. 39's, specifically those BFG's are actually 38's and fit with less effort, cost and time. Trim, and Control Arms, boom, done. 39's and bragging rights, even if they aren't true to size.
@@OffroadTreks You're certainly right about the cost of doing 40's right but there isn't a clear line to determine when you should regear. Frankly the Ram 6 speed gas trucks need to be regeared for anything larger than 33" tires.
@@CascadingDream disagree. 35x12.50 will reduce the effective ratio to like a 3.83 and 37's knock it down to like 3:62; considering the stock 2500 6.4 non-PW comes with 3.73 that's not terrible. Certainly can kick the can, and certainly not really needed with 35's. Def an improvement with 37's if you want to stay close to the stock ratio at 4.10. But you're still within the operating range of the transmission. So, I don't buy added strain arguments. 39's on the other hand, are going to knock the truck down around 3.44 - so those 4.88's or 5.13's are going to start looking really favorable.
@@OffroadTreks It isn't about added strength, the truck feels sluggish. Just because RAM sells 3.73s doesn't change the fact the 66RFE transmission is geared for a Cummins and performs poorly behind the 6.4 Hemi with all but small tires. 4.88's and 35's is probably a pretty good start. Having made the jump from 4.10's to 5.13's with 37" tires I can tell you from first hand experience the stock gearing is inappropriate for even 35's.
I have a 2019 ram 2500 big horn 6.4 hemi completely stock with 18" wheels. Just to make sure I heard you correctly, I can run 35x12.5 without changing anything? Great video BTW.
2018 PW. I got the AEV 3" lift. Falcon tire- 37zx12.5. On a full turn a slight nip in the rear/bottom WW. A 12" cutout, replaced with a rubber strip. AEV is one of the quality lifts. I wished I shopped a bit more. Like this mans shop's quality too. Do they make 38z? Also the Falcon tires have a tad of road noise, too. A little miss led with the tire noise and taking the front dip even.
Thanks for the info -great video- I'm thinking of going with the 35x12.5x20 toyo AT 3's on the stock wheels for my 2019 ram 2500 truck. The final deciding factor for me i and my question for you is -will the new 35" tire will fit in the spare tire location - I don't think I want to carry my spare in the bed of I don't have too
Yes, generally it will when running an AT. I put my Toyo AT/II up there. But a tireshop will tell you "Nope won't fit" because they are lazy. So they'll probably send you home with it in the bed. There is a TRICK and METHOD to it. I had the guy demonstrate it to me, and I'm like, dude... because everyone on the forums runs into this. Air spare down to 18 or 20psi, just LOW but not fall of the rim low. Put it on that little crank, then you have to guide it up and tip it. If you just put it on the crank and go straight up it hits the rear track bar. So you have to manually maneuver it. I fail to understand why it's so hard for tire shops to get under there and guide it up. But it is. But it will fit. Lots of guys have stuck them there. Now if you do an MT it might not fit as the tread blocks might be too aggressive. It really can vary tire to tire.
i had a 2006 2500 hd and within a year of running 35's on it my steering box was leaking. if we want to go to 37's what steering modifications or assistance should we consider ? also what about fender flares ? if we go to offset after market rims do we need to new fender flares as well ? thanks you guys ! great info. keep it coming...
They must have really improved things with the new trucks. Never heard of anyone having that sort of luck. And I've been running 37's for quite some time. I can't really speak to 3rd gens. But the 27mm AEV Katla's I have still kept the tire inside the Fender flares on my truck. Which I think it part of the reason to run within those specs Thuren set, +18~27mm - I think he has some info about 3rd gens and tire fitment on his website. But I have seen some of these other offsets like 0 and stuff and guys get a lot of tire poke. I'd like to avoid that, and avoid flinging things up the side of my truck. I'm running hydro now, which isn't just for guys with 40's. It takes a lot of the stress off the drag link and the front rack bar.
I think I'm going to stick with 35 (315/70). I want a full size spare in stock location, and good towing. If I went off highway more, I'd go to 37's. It's just not worth it for me.
I think 35's are the best all-around tire. Especially when towing. I never really noticed it, towing or performance-wise that much when I ran Toyo Open Country AT/II's in 35x12.50R17 - but I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice it when I went to 37's. Around town, unloaded it's fine. But hitched up with the Airstream, it's nowhere near as good as it was stock. Re-gearing would help. But yeah. 37's are heavier, more rotational mass, it's a hit on performance for sure. 35's are great, you get a little extra cushion and clearance if you want to get offroad without the performance hit you get from running 37's.
@@OffroadTreks this explanation and the video is exactly what I was looking for. It would be great to see in the description of the video so no one misses it!
@@OffroadTreks does this effect payload capacity at all? I’m torn between putting a carli suspension with new progressive leafs springs or keeping it stock, but I don’t want to lose any of the factory performance. I know the carli won’t effect it, but will putting 35s on stock suspension? It’s a 22 3500 diesel
@@matthewhibbs6098 My 35's that I first ran were E rated and had more carrying capacity than the 33 inch D rated tires my Power Wagon came with. And my 37's which were D rated had a higher load index than the 35 E-rated tire. Don't look at the letters, because that is based on max air pressure. Just look at the load index/load rating for the tire and make sure it meets your needs. The C rated 39's actually have the same load rating as the E rated 35's. A little less than my 37's but still more than the old stock tires. It's just that they have a MAX PSI of 40 where the 37's had a max of 50 PSI and the 35's had a max of 60 PSI. BFG now makes a D rated 39 which is there KO2 that I might buy later this year. It's an AT but might become my new winter tire. Either way, just look at the load index/weight rating of the tire. That will tell you what you need to know.
I have a 2019 Ram 1500 bighorn I was looking to fit 35x12.5x20 on the stock chrome 20inch rims I know you said it would fit on a 2500 what about my 1500? I have not found one legit answer anywhere on this question..... thanks for the help
I'm not sure how wide those are. I had a 2012 1500 a long while back and did a 315 which was almost 35. But I did have to run a 2.5 inch lift in the front. The real issue is whether or not the tire store will mount the tire. Some won't on certain wheels. My current wheels they will mount the tire loose, but they won't mount the tires on the truck at all for liability. So I have to bring the wheels in, get tires mounted, and take them home and install them.
Is it bad for the auto transmission and 4x4 system to go from 235/50/19 (oem size) to 235/55/19? I want a more comfortable tyre but i'm afraid that the bigger overall size would affect the automatic transmission and 4x4 system over time
I'm at 115k miles and have been running 39's on stock gears now since this video came out. I also don't drag race from stop light to stop light. So.... take that as you will.
What about us Gen 2 guys. Just acquired a 2001 RAM 2500 with the 5.9 Diesel. Have stock 16" wheels and stock wheels. Looks like the truck Skipped Leg Day.
Well done video! Re: 4:15 when he says you can put 35 x 12.50 on the stock wheels without any lift. Does that apply to the dually wheels as well which are 17 inches?
@@allptotx I hear they are already close in size to 35's. But don't have access to a dually or friends with one. Sorry. Otherwise we could do some test fitting in the shop.
I do not have that wheel. It's the 8.5 wheel. If you get the 10 you will discover the offset is drastically different. The 17x10 is designed for use with the High Mark Flares and moves the tire further outside the fender. It says this on AEV's website. "The 17×8.5 Katla features a Ram-specific backspacing that is designed for the perfect fitment with or without factory fender flares when using up to a 37” tire (w/ AEV suspension). The 17×10 fitment is designed for customers who are using AEV’s HighMark Fender Flares with 40″ tires installed (w/ AEV suspension)."
I have a lift question for the 2019+ Power Wagon. I’m piecing out a Thuren 1.5” level kit for my 19 PW and I’m a bit confused how the suspension geometry will be effected. From head on perspective, I’m re-centering my axles with Thuren adjustable track bars. That geometry I understand. Now from the perspective of the side. When the axle drops lower than the factory position because of the taller coils, do the radius arms pull the axle toward the center of the truck also slightly rotating the axle?
I appreciate the video. I am reading in a number of other truck sites on the web that for a 2019 2500 4x4 I will need a leveling kit for 35x12.5x20 wheels and tires otherwise they will rub. So I would need a leveling kit correct?
No. You don’t. People just keep saying that. It’s just one of those endlessly repeated wise tales. Leveling does nothing to change where the tire rubs. We demonstrated that with the 35’s on the 2019.
You may have touched on this but I was wondering I would could keep 3.42 gears to go up to 39s ('16 RAM 2500 6.7, tow a 36ft trailer weekly in summer) with a 4" lift or would I need to regear to 4.10? Thanks!!
You should go to 4.10's with the 6.7 that size tire would end up hurting you in the reduction of effective ratio. You'd have the torq. But you truck would feel like a slug.
Please don't nail me for this question, but I am sticking with metric sizing as most of my driving is on-road but I do tow a camper in the snow in the winter. I am looking at a set of 325/65 R18 for my Ram 2500. This is around 34.6" x 12.8". Can I still expect some minor rub just due to the width? Or should I just stay away from this width all together?
Can you provide an example of a good combo for 37s and offset wheels to try and not rub and trim? 37x12.5 is enough for me. Just trying to see what how much trim is required.
AEV Katla or Salta wheels wrapped in 37x12.50R17 Toyo MT or Cooper STT Pro or even BFG KM3's are all a good choice. They shouldn't rub. 37's on my stock wheels only ever rub radius and sway bar at full lock of the steering wheel. And never rubbed the pinch seam area from what I could tell. The stockers keep the tire tucked in the most. Others move them out away from those and they end up hitting that pinch seam more.
I know all you guys are talking bout 2500 - 3500 rams but i have a 2012 1500 express that came with 275-60-20 now i have probly about 1/2" between tire and upper a arm i would love to go to 35" tires no bigger but most are 12.50 wide so what would you reccomend 1.5" hub centric wheel spacers or if new rims what offset would i need ? My rims are chromed plastic glued on factory im gonna plastiy coat em black if i can keep em what would be my best bet
I had a 2010 Ram 1500 for a while and ran 35's. I did the Bilstein adjustable shocks set to 2.1 inches I think. I never had any issues with the upper a arm. I think there are photos still on ramforum.com
Great vid! Maybe you can clarify, does all of this criteria also apply to the Ram 1500? I'm about to purchase wheels & tires within about a week or two. Thanks
Wasn't sure if I caught it mentioned, however, what about a 2014 Dually 3500 Tradesman stock suspension, currently has 245/75R17 and they are silly small. What's the biggest tire that can be put on those wheels and also whats the biggest wheel and tire that can be put on without rubbing if I was inclined to go with a completely different set of wheels and tires? (Role of the vehicle is Daily/Tow&Haul, also if it matters the tires needs to be All Terrain).
Ninja, did you ever get an answer to your question? I have a 2020 RAM dually and I want to put the biggest tire I can get on it without an lifts, levelers or suspension changes.
@@billymcmillen202 No, no answer, I'm looking to do the same, no lift, spacers, or anything, just bigger wheel and tire. Also what's the biggest tire I can throw on the 17s for reference 🤔. Same boat as you im thinking
Yes, exact same boat. I want to keep my factory wheels which are 17’s, but put the biggest tire I can on just to fill up the wheel well some. Keep me posted if you get any info and I’ll do the same. Thanks for the reply.
I have a ram 3500 dually with stock suspension and 17 in rims and you said you could put 35s on stock suspension would I be able to do that with my truck?
I’ve got a 2012 3500 SRW with AEV wheels and 35” tires. Fits fine. Thuren Fab has a good tech section on what will fit or not and how much you might rub. I may go 37” when it’s time to replace. I would get Thuren or Carli control arms when I do that for clearance. I have 2” coils, but like the video says wheel offset is what you need.
Yes it will! Most will. I've heard a few people with MT's have some difficulty. Tires vary a little in size and tread depth. But most will fit. Two-person job. Need to guide the tire because if you put it on the hoist and go straight up, it will bump the track bar and make you think it won't fit. So you need an extra hand to guide while someone cranks the spare tire hoist.
I can confirm that BFG Mud Terrain 35's on the stock spare tire wheel will fit in both a '98 RAM 2500 360 gasser w/ 8' bed and a '12 RAM 2500 408 CTD w/ 8' bed. It was fairly trivial on my old '98, I would just have to make sure the tire was pulled all the way to the rear so the pumpkin cover wouldn't hit the tire. Plenty of room. On my '12 it's a freakishly tight fit. Even with the tire pulled back, the diff is scary close to the tire. Also, on my '12 I have to air the tire down and push, pry and wedge the tire up into place. Then air it up to around 40-ish. To get it out of the spare pocket, I use the handle of my HiLift to pry it down. Takes a couple of pulls from each side and out she comes. I have on-board air so after the tire is mounted, I air it up to the correct level. Both RAMs were/are stock suspension and the 35's fit. No issues at all in the '98 but I have a monster winch and bumper on the front of the '12 so have more front droop and have some rub issues. Next project is a Rancho 2" lift plus level. Should stop the front rubbing and make the '12 look less like a low rider...
Would the AEV flares help clearance the 39s without having to push the front axle forward like with a true 40? Obviously getting new wheels at the same time.
AEV flares would definitely make this all easier. The opening those flares offer is massive. We are trying to avoid that and maintain the factory fenders; the AEV flares add 4" to each side of the truck.
Good to know. Definitely going to 37s when I get new tires but if I can stuff a 39 under it with a bit of trimming I'm game. Love the stuffed look. Can't stand the 24inch wheels with lowpro mud tires
You already have the tires on the wheels ready for install so you know you want to do it. This is not a matter of need (we don’t NEED anything) lol. #nike #justdoit
I have a 2020 ram 2500 bighorn, 6.4 with 8 speed auto, 3:73 ratio. How much or will going to 35x 12.50 on stock wheels affect towing my 10,000 pound travel trailer (not a 5th wheel)
You probably won't notice it much driving around town. But towing you'll notice it a bit more. Remember, increasing tire size decreases the effective gear ratio.
Offroad Treks I hope to go with Thuren Kit and 37” tires with 4:56 gears soon. Love the way my Cummins pulls my camper so I gotta get gears done first. Already started buying parts so when I got it all gathered up I can take a week off work and transform my stock 2500 Cummins into a Power Wagon Slayer 🤣👍
@@gunfreak1911 I tow an Airstream. Most diesel guys I know go 4:30 but going deeper is always better if you wanna go bigger down the road. All depends on where you want your RPM's at cruise I suppose. Are you at 4.10 now or 3.73 or lower? 5.13's on 37's gives you a lot of extra grunt on the 6.4's power band. 4.88 gets you more of a stockish result.
Most likely. Some shops like Discount Tire might not want to mount it. It all depends. The only way they'd mount my 35's on that 8.5 inch AEV wheel in the video is if I brought the wheels in loose. But they wouldn't put it on the truck. Totally weird, but that's their policy. So you might have to try a few places if the first shop says no. Also, it's what's known as the "Poor man's beadlock"
Thanks for the response. Trying to dodge the new wheel expense but really want the bigger tires. The discount tire website shows 7.5” up for that tire. Had the no mount problem with tires for my jeep at Costco. Certain percentage over stock size =no mount
Great video and loaded with information. I have a 2018 Ram 2500 and currently running 285/65r20 with 20X9 +18 wheels. Your video stated 37x13.50 would need slight trimming or rubbing. Do you know if 37x12.50r20 +18 offset would fit without and rubbing or trimming needed?
Surprisingly the Ryobi (the bigger one) hits as hard as the snap on. There's an in depth torque test on RUclips somewhere. It is very unexpected but that's the way it is right now.
Offroad Treks ok thanks. I’m finding the manufactures of most 35x12.5r17s recommend a rim at least 8.5” wide yet for most 315/70r17 (34.5x12.7) they can mount on a 17x8. Will that extra 0.2” create a rubbing problem or not until over 13”?
@@jamesngotts it really depends on the tire as each one is true or not true to size and tread pattern, tread depth. Etc. My 35's Toyo AT/!!'s never rubbed. And I had mine mounted on the factory wheel.
Offroad Treks yeah I noticed the 315/70s range 12.6” and 13.1” in width. I dont understand why a tire 12.8” wide can mount on a 8” wide rim but a tire exactly 12.5” wide requires a 8.5” wide rim. I’ll either have to go with 285/75s or pick a 315 closer to 12.6”
Ok, so if my 18 inch wheels are +18 offset i can put 37x13.5's on with no rubbing? I was following along good then you moved to the rear and confused me. Im looking to do 37x13.5 on 18s with no rubbing...is that possible?
37x12.50 stock 18's fits with no lift no cutting (I do 2 tricks to No Cut) and hold lock steering slightly rubs the interior suspension as he referenced. So 1inch wider, which is 1/2 inch only on the inside, with your +18mm offset should be right about the same end outcome or a smidge better/less rubbing. An easy/cheap 12mm spacer just over the lug nuts will push them out off the interior rubbing another 1/4 inch.
@@cheeseymccheese7249 and the stock 18's are only 8" wide you know. It's all a mechanical spacial thing. Add or subtract an inch here, counter it there, Yada yada
@@HTSS8 Yea you bet, i just dont have the convenience of multiple different wheels to try back spacing out like these shops and such do.
Thanks!!!
Did you end up doing it? I have a 2019 ram 2500 big horn. Trying to see if this works.
Appreciate the third gen love too. Cheers!
This was a good video on tire fitment for rams not many companies at this time have RUclips videos supporting the platform
Still no idea what that would be, with the off-set and the tires.
thanks for confirming this information. ive been researching this for the last few months and everything is right on. see you guys in moab
See you there!
Awesome video. Made this account just to tell yall great job. Best laid out video on the internet with clear and concise information.

Well done. Guess it's time for bigger tires next round :)
If you add 37s at your recommend size, should you do any gearing changes ? How does it effect towing and mpg on a 2021 stock power wagon?
My Cummins had no issues with gearing. The Power Wagon might be a different story. My friend stuck with 35s for that reason.
35x12.50 WILL RUB on wheel liner plastic under suspension compression on stock height 2019+ 2500
Sounds awesome go for the 39s!

Can I get some feedback
great video. you have everyone covered except the newer rigs. what about 39's on a 75th anniversary wagon ?
Love the vid. Thanks for the info. What kinda front bumper is that?
I have a 2012 2500. Leaf spring rear. What sort of options do I have for a larger tire? You mentioned mostly 2013 and up.
I have a 2012 2500 as well. What did you end up going with?
Awesome video! How about 0 offset with 35x12.50xR17 bf goodrich Ko2 for 2020 Power wagon No lift? Does it need some modification?
Worse offset you can do is zero or negative. You'll be cutting a ton.
@@OffroadTreks I wonder if he leveled it with 2inch thuren he might be ok? wonder if he could then go a little - negative?
Hope to see you guys in May. Thanks for the video. Need to set up my 16 power wagon before then.
Also going to order my engine/trans skid today😀
Awesome man! We'll see ya there!
I might have missed it. But did he ever answer if 35x12.50 would fit 2015 stock 1500. Or is he just talking about 2500 and bigger? Thanks
I have a 2019 ram 2500 big horn 6.4 hemi completely stock with 18" wheels. Just to make sure I heard you correctly, I can run 35x12.5 without changing anything? Great video BTW.
Did you do it? If so any issues? I have a 2017 3500 diesel with stock 18 inch wheels. I would love to just slap on some 35x12.5 and be done.
There are 38's in other brands. 38's & 39's are odd ball sizes, so there aren't as many options as 37's or 40's.
Those are both badas* trucks. Great simple easy to understand video. Thank You!
Thank you for the kind words friend!
I have a bare bones stock 2003 3500 single wheel base. Can I fit 285.70.17 on it with stock rims? I would greatly appreciate and help.
Good Chandel I hope you get more subs
great video !! thanks
Offroad Treks I’m in a similar position regarding a trailer. Thank you for this feedback.
Aev suspension kit allows 40’s to fit Ram 2500
does this hold true for a 2022 2500 ram, I'm looking to put on 35x12.5 Nitto tires on a 0 offset. will this work? thank you
39s hell yeah!
Very informative! Thanks!
Clean ass rig. I just lifted my 1998 in front and I got 17” rims. Curious as to what tire I can fit underneath her.
Well done video!
Re: 4:15 when he says you can put 35 x 12.50 on the stock wheels without any lift. Does that apply to the dually wheels as well which are 17 inches?
That's a great question. And I'm not 100% sure about that. I wish we would have thought about the dually when making this video now, lol.

What gearing are you running on that truck to handle the bigger tires?
4.10's
It looks like you have the AEV 17x10 wheel in that video. Do you think 37x13.5r17 tires will fit on that wheel with plastic and pinch weld trimming?
I do not have that wheel. It's the 8.5 wheel. If you get the 10 you will discover the offset is drastically different. The 17x10 is designed for use with the High Mark Flares and moves the tire further outside the fender. It says this on AEV's website.
"The 17×8.5 Katla features a Ram-specific backspacing that is designed for the perfect fitment with or without factory fender flares when using up to a 37” tire (w/ AEV suspension). The 17×10 fitment is designed for customers who are using AEV’s HighMark Fender Flares with 40″ tires installed (w/ AEV suspension)."
hello thanks for the info, whats the wheel size on the 2019?
Yes do it. It will look bad ass
I am running 37/12.50/20,what offset do I need, with little rubbing
Well that just made this build substantially more expensive lol
Do you know if you can front spacer a AEV LIFT PRODUCTS?
Great vid! Maybe you can clarify, does all of this criteria also apply to the Ram 1500? I'm about to purchase wheels & tires within about a week or two. Thanks
Nope. Just the 2500. Sorry.
What size tires did you go with?
Great video !
Will the same concept apply for the 1500s?
No. Wouldn't go bigger than 35's. And ONLY if you have the 3.93 gearing. Still not great over 33's. (Unless your just a mall crawler)
Good job guys learned a lot. God Bless!

3:50 to 4:20..... 35"s will fit with no trimming. Just put 35"s on my 2023 3500 4wd...... Need to trim fenderwell.
Will a 35" tire on the stock wheels fit where the spare goes?
You don't need to push the axle forward. AEV does that to center the wheel in the wheel well with their flares.
:) I gotta make it happen!
Offroad Treks that’s my motto in life
I have a 2020 ram 2500 bighorn, 6.4 with 8 speed auto, 3:73 ratio. How much or will going to 35x 12.50 on stock wheels affect towing my 10,000 pound travel trailer (not a 5th wheel)
You probably won't notice it much driving around town. But towing you'll notice it a bit more. Remember, increasing tire size decreases the effective gear ratio.
I have the same truck but with 4:11 gears. I wonder if it would be good with 35s. I also pull a bigger travel trailer. I really want 35 inch tires.
Your transmission is gonna hate those 39” KM3. I see axle gears in your future.
gun freak Cool conclusion.
So will a 10 lug conversion with 22 1/2 rims witch is a 40 inch tire fit on a 2017 dodge ram with a leveling kit?
and that will be mainly on the road
3500
No
I have a stock 2018 2500 w/18x8” rims. Will 35x12.5 still fit? Keep seeing minimum 8.5” wide rim rqd
Is poor mans beadlock mounting on smaller rim?
Do y’all think I could fit 20x12 -44mm with 33x12.5R20LT on my ‘06 2500 Cummins with a 3 inch leveling kit?
I'm personally not so sure about 3rd gens.
Why are you supposed to stay away from a zero or negative offset? Wouldn’t that give you more clearance?
Look at the travel path. You end up with your tire on turn hitting the pinch seam even more, resulting in a lot of clearancing.
Yea im asking the same question but seeing yours is a year old im not expecting a reply :(
What battery impact wrench did you use ?
Surprisingly the Ryobi (the bigger one) hits as hard as the snap on. There's an in depth torque test on RUclips somewhere. It is very unexpected but that's the way it is right now.
So if a lift thats
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Thumbs up man!.
Great video, but what about 2nd gen Rams? I have a 97 1500
I have a 2019 Power Wagon and want to put bigger tires on the stock 17x8 rim. Do snow chains on 35x12.5s or 315/70s create a problem?
They become a problem on the front on 37's. But I had V-Bars on my 35 inch Toyo's and they were fine.
@@jamesngotts When I had my 1500 with factory wheels, I ran 315's.
Offroad Treks yeah I noticed the 315/70s range 12.6” and 13.1” in width. I dont understand why a tire 12.8” wide can mount on a 8” wide rim but a tire exactly 12.5” wide requires a 8.5” wide rim. I’ll either have to go with 285/75s or pick a 315 closer to 12.6”
Yes do it
I did. Been that way since 2020 now :)
@@HTSS8 Thank you Sir!
And with the 37s the only thing i worried about is bottomed out suspension and fender clearance which the video showed on the front but surprisingly not the rear
I also made the mistake of putting a 2.5 lift spacer in the front of ram and my front end was going to crap so out it came.
Thanks again for your comment
are those centramatic rings on your truck?
Yes
So I can put 37x12.50r18 on my 05 2500 4x4 with no lift right?
Nope. 4th Gen's 2014+ can.
On an '05 you will have some work to do, there is info on the 3rd gen years towards the end of the video!
Will the 35 / 12.50 fit on my 09 Ram stock setup ?
2500 or 1500 ??
@@OffroadTreks 1500 longhorn crew cab
Can I fit a 37 on a 2001 dodge 3500 with a 4 inch lift
Amazing info!!! 🇺🇸⚓️🇺🇸⚓️🇺🇸 can you make a video going over the ratio next haha even though we talked already haha 🤣
How can you fit a 39. But not a 37x12.5r18 on a -18 offset with an aftermarket front bumper
Wheel offset. the -18 offset is too much.
what front bumper is that
