The raccoon needed to leave. It was getting smelly and probably close to toxic. If you left it, your guard dog could have gotten very sick. Cute donkies, very calm. Donkies are good. They also act as guard animals for the farm.

I have a giant breed he’s four years old now) and have him trained to know me as his alpha. He will give me anything I tell him to. I decided early on that since he was going to be so much bigger than me (I’m 120 pound, 54 year old female) that for both of our safety that I needed to train him early on to behave well, just in case he picked up something that I deem dangerous either to him or others and that dog of mine makes me so proud everyday! I preach train your pups from day one, no matter the breed to know who the alpha is but to do it with love and you’ll be amazed with the results! Love your content Kevin!

Go pick the coon up with a shovel and if Leski tries to bite you just tune him in with the shovel. Hopefully it is an aluminum one because there is only one boss and it ain’t him !

I do think you should have removed the raccoon after a day or two. My Belle was born wild, her prey drive is incredible. However, through training her "Leave It" carries a lot of weight. Especially if I use my correction voice. This was the most important thing I could have taught her because if I say Leave It she does. It saved a neighbors cat. It also has given me the chance to keep her from being bitten by a snake that she mistook for a stick.

I had a mini poodle pet dog many years ago. One day, I tried to clean his ears, apparently he had ear infections which I did not know. He turned to the side and got my middle finger. I went to the urgent care because the hand was swollen shortly after the bite. I then ended up five days in the hospital. The swollen first started from my hand, it then went up to my arm. By the four day, I saw the hand surgeon who had to cut out the infection spot on my finger. I was not sure if I would loose my hand, because the swollen was so bad. Thank God for the hand surgeon, he helped to save my hand. Be very careful even though it's your own pet! Thank you Keven for the video, it reminds me of my hand incidence. 💖💖💖

We always keep ham bones in the freezer for the dogs. When they chase off or even kill predators they get ham bones and we get rid of predators. Never had any trouble.

Hello this is just an observation and a suggestion but to save yourself the heartache please don't rever give your dogs any kind of pork bones as the dogs are chewing on them pork bones can splinter and the splinter become lodged in there throat, stomaches, band intestines = an emergency trip to the you know the on the chicken bones that has a bone that is attached and they come off and it'll puncture you know this gets hung in their throat or puncture their stomach or their intestines and a lot of times the dogs bleed to death before you can do anything about it save the beef bones and your dogs
e and they're not going to

Hey Kevin , we always let our dogs keep their "prizes" for the night and if they didn't eat them we would take it out immediately. The Buzzards would smell it come in and attack the chickens so we had to remove the carcass. Y'all have beautiful humble ,caring and loving nature and we need a world full of more folks like Y'all !
    God Bless y'all always 💯🙏❤🇺🇲

We have to lock her in her kennel, remove carcus, then set her out. Once it is gone she looks for it but soon forgets.

@jennieboothe7953 …I had a cat that used to bring mice into the house to kill them by popping their heads it could get messy 😱 I would try to get him out of the house before he did the act and as soon as I walked towards him he would start growling and run outside with his prey in his mouth.
He’s the only cat I’ve had that ever growled at me, any other time he was the sweetest boy ever.

So, we purchased a high end DNA test, and he is 100% Siberian Husky. The old gentleman we bought him from had the parents on site. Big gorgeous Sibes, he called them “ working stock”.

Letting him have his prize is fine BUT! What if the thing was rabid? If Leeske caught rabies as you very well know, he would have to be put down and possibly Cora too, which would be tragic! But even if you took it from him right away he could still be infected so I don't know what the answer is, I would just hate to see anything happen to either pupper!

  • @Acadian.FrenchFry
    @Acadian.FrenchFry 11 месяцев назад +7

I've worked with dogs since 1988 and I have done bitework with them. One thing that you do when working them on the sleeve or the tug is to always let them win and carry off their "prize". They always parade it around and celebrate their win. It is something that does seem to be very important to them and if you are trying to encourage that predatory behavior like killing predators then I would allow him some time to enjoy his "prize". But, like you did here I would also not allow that to go too long or they will become more aggressive with the resource guarding. I don't know what a good length of time would be, maybe a couple days at the most. You were smart to distract with goodies for them to eat while removing it. I was legit nervous watching you do that. lol

3 weeks ago, my 2 1/2 yr. Neutered Boston Terrier, startled when I sat down next to him. He bit me once, when I told him (nicely assertively) to move over in bed.
This time, he got me hard in the chin, lots of pain and blood. Checking him out, the vet said it was I’ll breeding. He had started resource guarding, me, food, toys, our house. Picking fights with his old couch potato brother and I could no longer take the risk. When he was sweet, he would play, roll over for tummy rubs, and an utter sweetheart. I’ve had 16 dogs in my lifetime (all indoor pets). He was my 5th Boston.
He was becoming frantic over his belongings. Lots of obedience training. Medical attention. Etc.He was still a loose keg.
Now he is in Heaven with his previous brothers and sisters. My situation was not like yours, but I appreciate your teaching. Owners know what is best for their situation. Sometimes, any animal can become confused. Be blest ☦️and have a nice Thanksgiving🦃🥰‼️Great channel 👍☹️

Our two young pups were about 50-60 lbs at 7 months so we expect them to be good sized by the time they are fully grown. Our daughter is teaching them to let her take anything out of their mouth. We are following her actions and think it is a good way to treat them. We do want them to be sweet when they are fully grown. Your lessons are good for us to be aware of the repercussions of the best way to treat those animals who are more powerful than we are these days. (we are in our mid 80's) So thank you so much.

Not a thing wrong with what you did and it’s even smarter that you allowed him to keep his reward for awhile especially trading scraps to remove it like you did.
He may be upset when he realizes it’s gone but he will get over it.
I had a shepherd wolf mixed in the past who caught any squirrel she could catch and I let her have it for a day or two mainly bc she carried it everywhere and never left it alone. A day or two later I’d give her a new treat when she wasn’t so protective over her squirrel in order to remove it.
You did exactly what a great master would do. All ur animals love y’all and Leske will keep the next predator he catches as a prize just like he did this one and you just repeat the process.

I know some vets say donkeys don't need grain at all - grass and hay only, with a salt and mineral block. I don't really know about donkeys though - we raised cattle, chickens and hogs when I was still at home on our family farm/ranch. We also grew a lot of fruit - apples, cherries, some peaches, and one pear tree :)

I don’t know if it was right let him keep it a while( I know I would have ), but what I do know is you took it and removed it from the pasture safely by using the scrap food treats to keep him occupied and not watch you get it, bag it and get it over the fence. Now he won’t be leery of you taking another one in the future. 👍🏻 Smart thinking, Kevin.

I've always heard that donkeys need very little feed if any. They can live quite comfortably in desert climates with little food.. beautiful family

I have had ranch dogs all my life. They learned early on to "drop it". A necessary command to follow. Plus--My dogs eat what I or my family give them. Only that, important lesson to teach and learn.

Personally I wouldn't have left it in, I would have given him a treat instead. I'm sure raccoons carry diseases

Teach them to be halter trained,to be led, and stand tied. You'll have to vaccinate and trim their feet yearly.
