This though is a different thing.Nuclear deterent was never intended to or thought capable of preventing the Falklands War ,Northern Ireland or any of the spurious examples used. The linking of this Unilateral nuclear disarrmament /CND line to the other VFP stance is wrong to me . It muddies the waters and makes the clear cut argument of most VFP ex -soldiers less clear. The use of armed force in complex situations is unjustified and disasterous in Afghanistan,Iraq,the early years of Northern Ireland and so many other places.A foolish ,childish,macho mailfist lashing out because we can. The nuclear issue should be not linked to these clear cut cases, it loses support and appeals to those who believed it in the first place.Preaching to the converted.
