im Radford (1 October 1928 - 6 November 2020) was an English folk singer-songwriter, peace campaigner and community activist. He was also the youngest known participant in the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944..

Sixteen years old when I went to the war,
To fight for a land fit for heroes,
God on my side, and a gun in my hand,
Chasing my days down to zero,
And I marched and I fought and I bled and I died,
And I never did get any older,
But I knew at the time that a year in the line,
Was a long enough life for a soldier,
We all volunteered, and we wrote down our names,
And we added two years to our ages,
Eager for life and ahead of the game,
    Ready for history's pages,
And we brawled and we fought and we held where we stood,
    Ten thousand shoulder to shoulder,
A thirst for the Hun, we were food for the gun,
And that's what you are when you're soldiers,
I heard my friend cry, and he sank to his knees,
Coughing blood as he screamed for his mother,
And I fell by his side, and that's how we died,
Clinging like kids to each other,
And I lay in the mud and the guts and the blood,
And I wept as his body grew colder,
And I called for my mother and she never came,
Though it wasn't my fault and I wasn't to blame,
The day not half over and ten thousand slain,
And now there's nobody remembers our names
And that's how it is for a soldier

Fucking amazing by a fucking amazing lad is Jim, wouldn't expect anything else from him, total respect for him!
Always give between £5 or £10 to the British Legion every year and it's money well spent that, my way of saying thank you :)
Seriously even with my Great Grandfather my Fathers Mothers Father haha he was funny too legend literally whom I consider my hero of my family and quite happy being named after him partially at least, fucking love Andy Bruce, heck he had a sense of humour lol (died before I was born but is why I'm a descendant of clan bruce and take it incredibly seriously, what makes me a fighter even with the way my health is, not a quitter lol)!
Got almost in tears when he sang about the mother part, yeah....... :)

@@dollar_store_slim_shady6374 “1916” by Motörhead from the album of the same name. A rare occasion that Lemmy wrote a slow song.

One of these guys was in Southampton a few weeks back abusing soldiers calling them baby killers etc and upsetting members of the public, all this in front of young children and then was argumentative with the police when they were involved as well. A very different scene from seen on here.
