I primarily struggle with sequels because I tend to forget what happens between books. 😅 Picking up a sequel if there is time in between usually involves one of two scenarios: I remember bits and pieces of the previous book and start the sequel but am not as invested in the characters/story or remember absolutely nothing from the previous book except that I liked it and struggle over my decision to reread the previous book in order to read the sequel or spend that time starting another series. I've also found that I'm one of those people that loves first books because they're the start of the adventure and intoducing the characters and then I get bored with sequels. I feel your pain, Heather. I should honestly just start series once they're finished so I can just binge if I really like it; I'm doing that with Naomi Novik's Scholomance series right now.

You’re not alone. I currently have 5 series that I need to finish before i can even think of starting a new one.
SJM’s Crescent City and Throne of Glass are on my wishlist but it’s so daunting. I also have Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn on my TBR.

The last beartown book - read it but I suggest listening to it. Also ... comfort foods.

Ah yes those loved but dreaded sequels that simply taunt us from our bookshelves. I thought I'd be smart this year and start a 'series to finish' pages in my journal! Going to take up half my journal if I'm not choosy! Loved the vido.

Its a hard struggle. I recently promised myself that I would make more ruthless book choices. I have let go several unfinished series I was on the fence about or made myself finish. Like i set a date and said if its not read by June I m not reading it so I let it go. It sucked at first but its helped. I m reading more of what I like and I m not buying anything that is just okay and if I do I am not finishing them. So my advice is this unless you loved the series let it go. If you loved it set a date put it on a post it stick it to the book. Let it go if you don't get to it.

I have a really hard time finishing series when they aren’t all out. I’ll read up to whatever is out and if I have to wait, there’s a good chance I won’t go back to it because there’s just so many books out that I’m wanting to read 😅. I definitely get distracted. This year I’m trying to keep track of them in a spreadsheet so that I don’t get so distracted - fingers crossed it works! 🎉

Omg heather!! I am in the same boat with u! I am terrible at reading sequels! I have so many of the ones u talked about on my shelf! Just to let u know the inheritance game series is now 5 books but book 5 doesn’t come out till July and it’s such a good series too! And they have short chapters in all the books

Read Ruthless Vows!! I liked it more than Divine Rivals! I also need to finish the Beartown series...
I usually read the first book (sometimes the first two) and then forget to finish reading a series 😆

I struggle with series. I feel like i am reading too many. Years ago I used to be able to binge a series from start to finish but times have changed. Those Sarah J Maas and Frederik Backman books look like a project. They are so long. I don't blame you on those. One look and I'm out. I'm sure they are good but they look daunting.

I would highly recommend to continue with the Inheritance Game series. I need to read The Brothers Hawthorne soon as The Greatest Game is coming out this year. I still have yet to read Fourth Wing- the size of it is a fair bit intimidating at this point. I ended up dnfing The Stolen Heir as it just wasn't for me but I hope you enjoy it if you get to it.

I am about to get on the Sara Maas train, I am going to start with ACOTAR. I have the same conversation with myself when a book is as thick as Cresent City books. I have not read Winners yet either and I have read the other two books in the Beartown series and like you I don't know if I can handle my emotions being on the roller coaster that he takes me on. I did read Iron Flame and wish that the third book was already out because I need answers. I would say wait a little bit to read Iron Flame closer to when the third book is coming out. I have a lot of series that I need to catch up on, I have like 20 series going right now. And here I am thinking about adding Sara Maas to the list.

I'm not a booktuber. I read maybe 15 pgs. a day. I have over 100 books. If i buy a book that's 367 pgs. I don't want to find out that it'snot finished, there is anouther 367 pgs. to read. ...

A lot, and I do mean a lot, of The Winners is recap of books 1 and 2. I would highly recommend having some more time pass before attempting that one.

I have to say I really enjoyed the entire A Good Girls Guide to Murder series. The Inheritance Games series was okay. The first one pretty good but it was like reading the same book 3 times.

honestly? probably close to a hundred. give or take a handful. seems like many books are part of a series, these days. and while I do have a lot I'm not sure how many I will actually continue with.

As Good As It Gets is not good and I was actually kinda mad about the direction it went. Holly's standalone she published right after is one of the worst books I've ever read!

If you DNFed book 2 of Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, don’t waste your time reading book 3. It’s not worth it.
