Wooden kazoo may sounds better for some folks, but I like my aluminium one :C (also eg. The Addams Family theme sounded better on aluminium rather than wooden)
Thats true. Wooden Kazoo sounds like someone is imitating the kazoo with dung dung voice. The alluminium and plastic one has its own character.

i heard that changing the membrane with newspaper like material will make it sounds more like a sax
but you need to blow it from the other end and cover the other end with your hand and play it with falsetto voice

I've always preferred the plastic Amscan Kazoos. I have an aluminum kazoo but the power isn't there, it just feels like not enough is belting out of it.
I may try wooden soon to see how I like it. But what I really wish existed is a large wooden kazoo the size of a Xaphoon. I'm thinking it would give the player more power and more tonal control.

If the wood resonates, what is the difference between straight kazoos and tapered.
If the wood resonates wouldn't the size of the kazoo make a difference? Why don't we see bigger and different shaped kazoos?
Also the sound is primarily generated from the membrane, so has anyone tried to add resonators from the membrane like a trumpet?

One of the reasons I made a wooden Kazoo is that I had to break my head into mixing when using Aluminum, I had to try really hard for it not sound like a toy. Wooden Kazoo made that really easy.

The after taste of wooden is awful ..
There is a way to play it. You have to keep the Kazoo on your lips and not like your holding with it. This is the better way to play plus it avoids the taste. Wood was never a delicacy.

Yeah but they don't sound right. They are making these thin ones that sound more like kazoos but these things sound like a lazy broken clarinet or something. They're supposed to sound kind of nasal. That's just what a kazoo is. And why is that sound "nasal"? My nose doesn't sound like that. It's high end. Heavy on the highs and low in the lows. But so is a banjo. A kazoo is a humorous instrument. You can't play a kazoo and expect to be taken too seriously. But it does go kinda well with a ukulele for that old timey sound; as long as it's not too serious. But that wooden thing wouldn't work for that. If I was playing live I'd rather the audience go "Oh look. He's playing a kazoo now. Ha ha." then "What is that sound? What is he playing? Is that supposed to be some kind of instrument?". It sounds like a moose and a saxophone, through an abominable unnatural union, produced a mutant inbred deformed love child that was born vomited and died.
