He always hated performing in front of other people. It makes his heart race so much he's had 2 heart operations! That's the main reason for hiding his face. The fact it looks really cool is an added bonus. [ and yeah, that's him in the early footage. Note; he looks really uncomfortable. Most guitar players who could play like that would be out front, showing off ]. He's very special.

How does anyone manage to *not* accept that that's very clearly him playing with Class X given the known photo of him in Guitar magazine?! When you think about it, it's remarkable that he's managed to stay as private as he has in this day and age of ubiquitous camera phones and social media. I mean this is a guy of what, 6'7", who manages to get in and out of the venues he's performing in apparently without anyone snapping photos of him and then trying to jump on a "Buckethead unmasked" trip. Not to mention that he was a member of GnR for 4 years, I mean yes, they weren't as much in the spotlight as they were back in 1987 but it's all relative, I'm sure they still had a hell of lot of press following them, cameras on them and media commitments etc etc. I think it's great though, to have someone as insanely talented and successful as he is not be the slightest bit interested in chasing fame and for most of his fans and close associates to be evidently respectful and protective of that.

I find him fascinating haha. Brilliant guitar player, but just sounds like a totally kind person too. I remember when that Ozzy article came out when I was in high school (think I actually still have that Revolver magazine it was in). I never understood why Oz would want a guy like Buckethead in his band, but only if he ditched his whole onstage persona/image. That’s like ordering a McLaren from a dealership & then asking the mechanic to remove the engine & throw it into a Caravan.

Here’s Buckethead’s guitar teacher Pebber Brown ruclips.net/video/Sdoz16LRz9Q/видео.html&feature=shares He recently passed away but his guitar channel is still available. Although he had more than one teacher during his development Buckethead thanks Pebber in the liner notes of one of his albums for teaching him.

I'm too old to have played Guitar Hero, but the influence it had on kids just a little bit younger than me is definitely true. Jas Obrecht (not sure the spelling) has some amazing interviews with a young EVH.

There's people that don't believe that's Brian in the 88 footage? ROFLMAO, there's fools that think Elvis is still alive and McCartney is dead too. Brian was barely 19 in that footage. I still have the original digital quality VHS but it will sit until ir rots as it's not about money it's about history. At that age he could copy just about anything but I would get him to bring his shredding into old Classic Rock tunes such as the licks on the footage song Little Sister. Incredible and great hearted person. Pebber Brown joined that band shortly after Brian became Buckethead. Sadly Pebber has passed away.

So in regards to the pre-Bucket 80s band clip… The guy is holding a Kramer guitar, the hardware, body, and headstock all line up with Bucketheads first known guitar which was that exact Kramer. Same model, literally the same guitar. Same guitar because thats Brian Carroll in the clip. I would like to argue with anyone who doesnt think so… Also Paul Gilbert name dropped his real name in videos over a few years, theres so much info out now. I liked it more when it was the mystery of the guitar world. Who is this bucket wearing, guitar wielding, ridiculously tall figure? That was the question… Stupid Internet. Ruined everything lol. Anyway, I enjoyed watching as I do all things Buckethead. Thanks!

I love the Guns n Roses statement so much. "It turns out, the reclusive prodigy who wears a KFC bucket on his head and does interviews via a hand-puppet isn't very reliable when transitioning between avant-garde underground shred soloism and one of the biggest touring bands in the world. Whoops!"

Buckethead was just Buckethead. He was hard to communicate with because his head is on a different plain. My good friend from High School, Shawn Lane was much like Buckethead in nature. Shawn wasn't looking for fame. His love was for the music itself. Shawn is probably the only other soul that had open communication and understanding with Buckethead because they were literally on the same thought frequency. The genius level....
