  • There’s two things you need to master in order to progress in ballet, whether you started today or you’ve been a seasoned dancer or an experienced student.
    ⭐️ That’s a plié and a battement tendu. ⭐️
So every single ballet step out there, from the simplest (if there is anything as a simple ballet step) to the most complicated one, contains either a plié, or a tendu, or both.
Let’s take a grand battement for example. A grand battement is an evolution of your ‘simple’ battement tendu.
Of course, the tendu is controlled, it doesn’t have momentum. In the grand battement, you add the momentum and the height, of course. But if you haven’t mastered the way that you’re supposed to do a tendu, the grand battement will be axiomatically doomed! 😵‍💫
You can apply that in every step, exercise, choreography… You can define whether there’s a plié, a tendu or both for every single ballet step!
