Great location. Quite a scramble toward the top. Scree always makes me think of some sort of tortured landscape out of Lord of the Rings. But, what a rewarding view. Nice sunset. Now that you've taken your sister hiking, she'll have to take you dancing. We'll be waiting for the video. Hope the smoke has blown away by now.
Love the Vid. First time for me on EEOR was at Sunrise and I can recommend the spot for that too. Was just a bit scared about cougars and bear's in the dark on the way up :D
I tend to prefer a sunset on hikes so I can see the trail in the day first which makes getting down in the dark a little easier! Always a bit unnerving hiking in the dark though! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful! I have so many questions! I am arriving in Calgary sept 7th and I would like to catch the sunset that same day. What time do you suggest I start the trail? How long was the hike? Bottom to summit? And the summit is Rundle 1?
The summit is East End of Rundle. The hike could take from 2 to 3 hours or more to the summit depending on your fitness and comfort level. Take a head torch a friend and a map if you plan to come down in the dark it's easy enough to get lost!
Time wise maybe a couple of hours. Trail finding in the dark on that hike can be pretty challenging. There are a lot of potential intertwined routes so it's best to be familiar with it. I have met people who have gone the wrong way and got into a bit of a pickle in the dark.
She was very lucky, it was terrible the day before she arrived but honestly cleared up for most of her trip. A little hazy the last couple days but all good!
Awesome video!

Bad luck that your sister had to contend with the smoke during her visit -- looks like you still made the most of it!
