Very interesting, my mother was born in Peak Hill in 1902,my grandfather worked inthe gold mine,and grandma took in washing they had 8 children and lived in corrugated tin house.
Thankyou for you efforts.... my husband and I were alone on a station halfway between Brokenhill and Mildura..catching goats....over 30 years now, we left due to ill health... Nagella Station... we loved it..... Thank you for respecting the houses etc.. even though the property’s are abandoned... snubbing a cupboard door ,closing an exterior door , can preserve a house for another family to takeover.... I hope you continue to enjoy your life on the move....enjoy, keep safe.... 🇦🇺🦘🐨

There is a Peak Hill gold mine in NSW..It was closed for many years,but is a working mine again now.

Hi Jack I worked at Peak Hill mine in 91-92 at that time we were starting a pit called 5 way and back filling an old pit called Tankard which was right along side.
Nice mate! Would’ve been a completely different place back then to what it is now I bet! 🍻
I go there every year and my grandmas friend that recently died used to live in the bank recently if u see the sign on the old bank it said Tim that’s him!

Cheers mate. Fingers crossed it'll be nice weather. At least no rain hopefully. I reckon the water in the gorges will be freezing cold though. We're definitely looking forward to it.

Do you a metal dector. Most airport on the mines. Have gold on then and its flat. No plant to screen gold. So they use the grown. To build up the land for wet season. And just maybe the roads. Grades move much land. Thank for the videos guys. I work for ausdrill. I have seen alot. Take care guys ) thank you
Cheers mate! I’ve got myself a detector but haven’t really had the time to learn about it or really use it, would love to but it also comes down to a lot of the footage I show is already some one else’s mining lease

I lived in Peak Hill in around 1957 as a kid. Was bugger all there except a 5 stamp battery and 3 huts for the stamping crews
Would’ve looked completely different to what it is now!
@@JS_Adventure Yes, the camp where we were living was about one mile or so from the hotel and like I said had 3 huts. The foreman had a home close to the battery, I think his name was Frank Christie. One hut was ours, one was for another married couple and the other was for 2 single blokes. The battery operated in 2 shifts. Our weekly shopping was delivered from Meekatharra [along with my weekly lolly ration]. The delivery bloke was murdered some years later. It was one of the best places I have ever lived in, no school! After the rains, I used to follow the creeks and find small nuggets. Yep it was a good life. The video you placed on Y.T is hard to follow because the place has been cut to bits by modern means [open cut etc] and time. Our water supply was delivered by a wind mill and tank and the battery was a few hundred yards from the huts. Water was drawn from a well to be used to work the battery. It was an experience for me when the plates were scraped and the mercury and gold was then smelted and poured into ingots. Lots of kids would have missed out on that. I never ventured into town because the old sheriff didn't like kids about the place so I stayed away. His name from memory was Walker and the publican was Moran [I think]. I often thought of returning for a visit but by the looks of the place it would not warrant my efforts.
That’s fair mate! The memories you have of the place are unreal and not something you’d want to change if you were seeing it again! Sounded like a great child hood out there!
@@JS_Adventure As far as a return to Peak Hill, it's not going to happen - too old to do the trip. I'm in my mid 70's now and slowing down pretty quick. When I lived there, I had the opportunity to ride in the truck that carried the ore from the Horseshoe Mine to the battery. Horseshoe itself was a bit of a ghost town back then and I don't know if any of it exists today. It was owned/run by the Edwards Bros Hank And Ronnie.
Base metals are copper, lead, zinc, etc. Not gold, but there might be some gold by-product there.
Another good episode Jack! You do manage to attract rain don't you?! Maybe you could hire yourself out to drought areas! 😂😂

I went detecting there about 6 months ago. So much rubbish unfortunately.

Hi Jack another interesting video, not many other tourist out in that area. The old machine at the art sites was a very old square Hay bailer. Still looks like there has been plenty of rain a out. Thanks mate, see you next video.

'not even worth looking at really'-your opinion of Peak Hill,but,it depends on the person looking Jack,I found it quite interesting & thanks for the footage,but,remember what may not interest you,might well interest someone else,as did with me.I find its like looking into a time warp,imagining when it may have been thriving.

Free plug for the " big green warehouse " 🤔 if your going to " promote " anything why not have you channel printed on your clothing and not give free plugs out?
Happy to wear their gear as it is a quality jumper that was sent out to us by a viewer, also we still wear our clothing just that I don’t think our jumper made this trip 🤔
