@@Ganking553 crobat is definitely another pokemon I’m waiting for. I hope it gets an ex and regular version. One to be a focus point for dark cards but the other to still have the option to splash. Although if we get double colourless with the next set and umbreon crobat gonna go hard af
Pocket seems like early Pokémon tcg. To clarify in early Pokémon tcg the best deck was haymaker, a bunch one one energy, high HP, basic Pokémon that would be put in a deck and get set up and dealing damage first turn. I think the pocket devs realized this and didn't add cards quite to the extreme that they could've.
It's more like the complete opposite of the early pokemon tcg. Haymaker was an incredibly slow deck, it dealt damage in small chunks consistently and used energy and field disruption cards to stop your opponent from being able to set up. The meta in Pokemon TCG is incredibly fast, it's about getting a super high damage pokemon online before you opponent can because the only disruption we have is Sabrina. Because you can't whiff on energy and your opponent can't disrupt your energy decks like Haymaker can't work.
@@S4ltyTar0 The deck got set up very quickly which is what im trying to emphasize. Sorry i just knew that haymakers energy cost was low thats sorta it mb
@@Infectedjohn Thats my point haymaker was fast but the Ex pokemon could also be faster but the devs decided to make them less fast but the meta is still similar.
The best counter in the whole game to mewtwo is arbok wheezing. Type advantage high damage no retreat has an over 80% winrate against it. I played it on ladder and when I see that psychic energy I’m just like “oh free win”. However, it’s the worst wheezing variant into any other deck and you generally get a 40 ish % winrate which is not great. As you said earlier it’s a great anti meta pick
Charizard ex runs favorably against mewto too in my experience. The only thing holding Charizard ex back is the lack of consistency building up a stage 2. Once we get one trainer that lets you redraw your entire hand or something similar Charizard EX will soar to the top as it's stage 2 is just a reason to instantly concede
@@MCoTEDDY Agree, charizard is a comeback deck, once the charizard is up, its essentially ggs in many matches, Mewtwo is not the exception, the problem is getting the charizard up, unlike mewtwo who can consistently defend itself in turn 2
@@dorian_cthulhu this build is fun but high skill. A lot of it is based on what your draw first hand and then second turn. If you don't get a single card you need to start getting set up it's a loss. You need two evos and 3 energy just to do 80 ish damage to non psychic decks and not to mention if you use Koga you're stopping yourself from you using game ending supports. Idk it's fun against non meta decks and solo but I don't run into it alot and when I do I'm not too worried. The meta builds just do way more damage.
100% agreed, I started the game with Arbok/Wheezing because I couldn’t build the Mewtwo deck, I was cashing wins left and right. Solid anti-meta deck! Honestly my favorite deck so far.
No respect to the gollurk deck... Ah I'm joking, he's 4 energy flip 2 coins and 100 for each head. He was simply amazing for the player Vs bot challenges making you use a 3 star or less deck. However in a genuine game I feel coin flip decks are always gonna be no higher than A tier. Game really seems to roll more tails
I disagree. This is Pokemon TCG my guy. Coin flips are part of the game unlike YGO or Magic. So definitely a high roller coin flip deck can easily stand a chance against Meta decks.
The raichu version of pikachu can deal with mewtwo and mirrors pretty well, pikachu only needs 2 energy to start dealing 90 and exerting pressure while u build up the raichu on the bench for 140 dmg+gio to revenge kill their mewtwo once they setup gardevoir, there's not much sabrina counterplay too since all your benched pokemon like zapdos/another pikachu ex have 1 retreat cost and can attack with 1-2 energy and they won't have enough time to build up 2 mewtwos with how much early pressure pikachu exerts. I'd even go as far to say that Lt surge is probably useless since u almost always need a gio to 1 shot mewtwo running 2 geos over Lt Surge is probably better for more consistency
Yes, I am one of the many centiskorch supporters, and here is why I think it should be ranked higher: Centiskorch requires only 1 Evolution, It takes very few turns to reach the 4 energies thanks to Moltres (2 turns and u already have 4 energies most of the times), and when he attacks he only loses 1 Energy, enabling him to attack every single turn. Being so much faster than all other Moltres decks (especially the chari), one-shotting every Pokemon in the pika deck, and not even being weak to Electric type, make him a huge counter of pika (I think I have like 80% victory against Pikachu decks). With Giovanni he also One shots starmie and articuno decks, and being able to Attack every single turn and being only 1 Evolution, these things make It way faster and way more effective than the Moltres Chari one.
the 1 less energy cost (and retreat cost) arcanine provides is kind of a big deal against faster decks where attacking 1 turn earlier can be crucial. charizard on the other hand is better in slower matchups when the opponent lets you set up. centiskorch is kind of stuck in the middle between those two. the fact it's not an ex is good but if they end up KOing your moltres which happens quite often they only need one more point anyways. it's a cool budget alternative though
I like charizard ex better simply because all you have to do is put 5 energies on him in the bench and you just win the game. Literally. He kills any pokemon in one shot and with 5 energy prior to attacking it ensures you get to attack twice in a row with crimson storm.
@akiasura Ye but how many turns u need to do that? If u are veeeery lucky u find both charmeleom and Chari very fast, but usually u need al least 4-5 turns and meanwhile opponents starmie or Pikachu already killed your Moltres and now killing your charmender/charmeleom
23:46 spent the whole video talking about the speed aspect but then forgets pikachu is the fastest, most consistent damage dealer right now. They’re not gonna be able to get a shot off
That’s true but if you look at recent results, Mewtwo is consistently outperforming Pikachu now. In the last week, mewtwos won every tournament above 500 players. It’s mewtwos world rn
@@TillyTCG-y8g seriously EVERY single tournament? You’d think there’d be one Pika winning 1st at very least . small sample size ? I wouldn’t mind seeing the percentage when they strictly go against each other in tournament setting… although it would be some digging
@@lude-N-lopsided well the last time I check it pika as a whole has 53% winrate in tournaments while mewtwo has 51% (Total winrate, not against each other)
I think Pikachu and Mewtwo are fairly evenly matched, but a Pikachu has the most consistent coin flip advantage in the meta. Either you get 3 basics on the bench when Pikachu’s ready to attack, or you don’t. The thing is, you can’t change the chances of Exeggutor/Marowak/Misty flipping heads. You can’t put more than two Kirlia/Gardevoir in your deck to increase the chances of getting Gardevoir online. But you CAN stack your deck with 5-6 non-Pikachu basics to help ensure he’s got partners for max damage. No other deck can say that. Mewtwo will win if it gets a Gardevoir set up early, but Pikachu has a greater chance of getting a full bench before you pull all three of the Ralts line. That’s why I think Pikachu is better in a global sense, and why so many decks have to respect Pikachu and build for it.
Great breakdown of the decks and ranking them. Agree for most if not all of it! I think the Venu/Caterpie deck is not the Butterfree version but the version with Venu lines 2/2/2 + 2 Caterpies without the evolutions. I think it would show a Butterfree instead of Caterpie if it was representing the Venu/Butterfree build. The goal is just to have Caterpies help you more consistently get your pieces for Venu EX and let the Venu EX carry you the whole way.
The placement for Muk and Weezing is very accurate. I ended up getting all 45 of my event wins with that deck over the past 3 days, and I feel people not knowing what the combo is for that deck is one of the determining factors to success. And very lucky rng. The God combo came with the help of Dodrio. He helped damage sponge, and he has that zero retreat cost. You have to think pretty far ahead to outplay some decks. Believe it or not, you would think this would have destroyed Mewtwo EX decks (the main reason I was running it), but I had taken more wins from Pikachu EX users 😂 I had also beaten a Charizard EX deck ONCE by being lucky enough. Overall it was a grind, but fun doing a deck not a ton of people were playing!
Hi, Venasaur/Butterfree player here. Can confirm that I already got through the 45 win challenge with that deck and that if you can sack a bulbasaur or pinsir to build something up, it’s hard to stop Idk it’s not as good as other decks but…
@@jonasknorr3790 I don’t understand your question… 95% of the people I play now in the event have the 45 win badge. Did I get it too fast? What does this reply mean
So, im still short a melmetal, but ive been having so much fun with a full metal deck. Melmetal, Bisharp x2, Mawile x2, potions, Sabrinas, balls and professors, X speeds and red cards. You want to spend professors and pokeballs as soon as possible. Ideally, you want mawile and pawniard on bench and active, and a meltan bench only. Step 1: I hope not to get stuck with a meltan first hand active spot, but if given a choice between the pawniard and mawile, i prefer mawile going first and pawniard if i get second turn. Mawile has better hp and his second effect of attack actually works if the enemy put energy on their mon. Pawniard is good to start rolling damage out. Its not a huge deal to have to retreat if your oppo setup made your choice wrong. Step 2: On enemy setup, if they are stalling and placing energy directly onto their bench, wheel out pawniard/bisharp to slice up that first tank. If they use the active pokemon to setup their bench (like a moltres), use mawile and even sabrina to make them waste energy early before they dole out massive energy. Step 3: Decide if you should be spending next 4 rounds pumping up Melmetal, or preparing for mid fights. If they get agressive with my mawile, ill usually have my pawniard setup with a single energy, ready to revenge if he is evolved, ready to swap in if enemy leaves easy prey in active spot. Basically, any chance you get, put energy onto melmetal, but ALWAYS have an energized buddy to tag in as needed. That third bench spot should be bisharp if your bisharp is at risk of dying soon, but mawile if you are close to finishing melmetal. I've even nullified Sabrinas by leaving it empty while sacrificing my other two mons for energy. By the time i have melmetal on the field, i usually still have one potion and one sabrina, x speeds should be used quickly as needed. Dont be afraid to use x speeds on early fights, because itll just clog your deck if a red card comes up red cards are almost better late game, if the enemy has early tanks/EX. But use early and often if they have stage 1 and stage two setups. Seriously, ive been having so much fun with this deck, it doesnt feel slow, and allows me to change my style to counter the enemy. Give it a try. If you have both melmetals, let me know if it feels better to drop the mawiles, or the bisharp. I'll be dropping the red cards, personally.
Melmetal necesita 4 energías para pegar, y tienes el descaro de decir que no parece lento? Tanto texto solo para intentar vender a uno de los peores mazos del juego? Vaya idiota
I’ve been playing Nidoking and it’s been nuts how good it works. Way better than other 3 stagers for me, I also don’t play tournaments, and am new to tcg, life long player of the video game
MetwoEX deck is for me to much RNG dependent, i had so many matches, that i could get a Garde or even matches When i set up Garde on 3/4 turn, but couldn't bring up Mewtwo, I had literally no options for win. So the best counter for this deck, its deck itself
Im a big fan on the centiscorch moltres deck purely because it has a great matchup into starmie. I've played around 9 or 10 starmie decks with it, and it seems to work every time I've only lost once to it when i rolled 6 tails in a row on moltres.
Starmie/greeninja is the best water deck in my opinion add some extra basics like Kangaskhan and he can stall enough to set up greeninja and starmie ex, while still putting up big damage for only one energy
@@keithroberts1401 brother I’ve been playing too much real TCG I’ve defaulted to calling it Alolan because it’s the one that’s been getting good cards for like 8 years 😭😭😭 in my head exeggutor is not a pokemon only Alolan
I agree with you on EVERYTHING except for Golem/Brock. Raven has made some progress in Golem/Brock deck-building and had some surprising stats. As long as grass stays mid, it has low B-Tier potential. Also curios what your thoughts are on MegaM0gwai's Jynx/Greninja deck, I've been playing it a lot and I think its surprisingly high C-Tier.
I’m only going off my first thoughts on the jynx greninja but I’d think bruxish would partner better right? Misty to bruxish, more consistent damage. I’d have to see the list tho, are there other attackers besides jynx?
@@TillyTCG-y8g The list is 2 kang to tank, 2 greninja line, and 1 jynx. You wall with kang, chip with gren, and jynx revenge kills pokemon too tanky for either of the others. It's the only dual-type list I've seen besides dragonite and weezing/kazam that works.
Not planning to play tournaments, but this was still helpful to help me understand what to take on ladder for event grinding. Which appears to be Blaine given my utter lack of 2x any ex pokemon. Looking forward to that Poke Gold giveaway!
I totally agree with your list as a long time TCG player. The only one I was iffy about was putting Mewtwo over Pikachu until you said "best out of 3". Single games he can lose to speedier decks if they draw better, but in a 2/3 its much more consistent and unlikely to lose matches due to luck. I just get annoyed playing Random by how often you cant draw the Gardiviour stuff fast enough when your opponent hits a 2 energy Misty or a on curve Starmie/Pikachu or whatever. The RNG online is kinda wild, but its def better than most decks.
The deck I've been playing the most is a koga deck with weezing Muk and one Arbok. I gotta say, it completely destroys the mewtwo deck, at least in my experience. Even if you don't get a good early game, thanks to only giving one energy per defeated pokemon, you can make a comeback Also since mewtwo doesn't evolve it makes it harder to clean the poison Nice video, btw
The reason Mewtwo doesn’t have a quick-solution counter is because Darkness didn’t get much love this release. Koga/Weezing decks are really strong but the setups required sometimes get outpaced by a Gardevoir setting up a Mewtwo. I’m sure it’ll get hella balanced once they release more darkness. Oh, let’s not forget, I can’t remember a Darkness EX at the moment.
You should probably mention sandscrew with marowak. It's imo as good of a combo as primeape. The weezing arbok deck counters mewtwo pretty hard actually. Poison decks in general can cause major problems for mewtwo.
Most of the rock Pokémon don’t really have much going for them so Brock in itself might be better if it had a different action like a buff in defense for the next turn. Or maybe increased damage by more than a bogus 10
Best thing I think brock can do is give energy to geodude and graveller as well at a minimum, early aggro geo and a turn 3 high roll hitting for 70 sounds better than rn
Did you record this before the lapras ex event or are promo cards not allowed in tournaments for pocket? If so I would’ve loved to see a ranking for starmie lapras deck - very similar to articuno but acts as a better wall with more sustain
Gonna be honest - wasn’t on the list and I forgot to add it bc the card is just worse articuno from all the results we’ve seen. Lapras is just a placeholder until you pull your articunos IMO
Have you tried Raichu/Magneton/Lt. Surge? I have an optimized list that has a strong winrate against Pika Ex and M2 Ex. It just requires a solid understanding of resource management, or you'll brick. Aside from the card draw staples, I just run x2 Sab, x2 Gio, x2 speed, and x2 surge. The list is meant to maximize top decking into meta matchups. Cannot run any Ex's from my testing.
Believe it or not, my best counter to Mewtwo has been Arbok/Pidgeot. No coin flips, both can two-shot Mewtwo (pidgeot needs Giovanni though), and you can often clear the gardevoir before it’s fully evolved thanks to red card/Sabrina/Pidgeot keeping it out of the back line, and Arbok melting it up front. It’s a lot scarier if they get a turn 3 gardevoir, but if I get a turn 2 arbok and a single Sabrina in my hand it’s even worse for them.
Arbox/Wheezing deck has a wins 80% vs MewTwo EX so there are definitely ways to counter it. Even Charizard and Starmie/Articuno deck have a 60% winrate vs Mewtwo, but they have a 60 and 30% winrate vs Pikachu EX respectively. I feel like Pikachu EX is still the better (I also think its slightly favored vs Mewtwo), it's just that during the recent tournament meta overcorrected, with most people selecting their decks counter-pick Pikachu (which the Mewtwo decks feasted upon) while not many picked decks that counter Mewtwo but lose to Pikachu. Also I want to know what do think about Marowak/Sandslash decks? Did you not mention it because you think Marowak/Primeape is just a better version of it? I feel like its a better deck when going first while not being as good as Primeape versions when going second.
I love my greninja/articuno/starmie deck. Has all the strengths of just articuno, but being able to hit the back makes retreating for the opponent less viable and it's easier to quickly knock out an opponent. Also, having a single prize attacker who can hit for 80 for the energy is pretty good too. 😊
I do hope we get some better grass cards soon, because using Erika to heal is so much fun. I have been having some success with an Exeggutor Ex/Vileplume deck, though. I doubt it’s at all tournament, but I think at least in casual play Vileplume is being slept on (no pun intended). Sure, you’re reliant on coin flips for both of your main Pokémon, but the damage is pretty consistent. It’s my most consistent deck aside from Blaine/Rapidash/Ninetails (granted I still don’t have the cards for Mewtwo or Pika)
YOOOOOO THE ONLY EXE/VILEPLUME COMMENT I SAW. i won 9/10 with this deck even against fire type decks. IVE NEVER MEET EXE/VILEPLUME OPPONENTS THO. IM SO CONFUSED THIS DECK SO SLEPT ON
My favorite to play right now is Melmetal. It is slow and relies heavily on your own prediction and risk assessment over any lucky coin flips. I'd put it solidly in B, it's certainly not meta defining, but from my experience probably 70% of the time, it's like a freight train; slowly, inevitably building up to lethal. Early Mewtwo with a gardevoir nullifies it though
I've been having a ton of fun with my Marrowack/Grapploct deck. Grapploct giving you free sabrinas every time it uses a 70 power attack is great. Marrowack needing to hit double heads to one shot the enemy EX is sadly the decks only downside.
Cool video! I do think it may be better to start the tier list from the top since that really sets the context on what other decks have to keep up with to be good.
It feels like nobody has ever played Golem. The card is amazing against Mewtu, haven't lost a single match to it yet. It oneshots mewtwo, and against Starmoe / Articuno it can even take their attack and oneshot in return. I have no idea why people claim Golem DOESNT do this when it consistently does for me every match.
Bold claim that these are ALL pocket decks. My hot takes: the fossils are underexplored. Having a stage one EX plus fossils makes some of the most consistent decks. Sadly thus far we only have marowak and starmie for this. The Marowak/Kabutops and Starmie/Omastar that include the non-EX versions as well play really smoothly, though they do sacrifice ceiling for consistency. I'd put them top of C, maybe bottom B.
Im using a variant of the Charizard/Blaine deck and have gotten good results. I played 13 games in the event pvp the other day and only lost 1 of them. Nine Tails + Blaine 1 shots Pika EX which is huge. There is a struggle against Mewtwo EX decks but it basically just hinges on who sets up faster. Having secondary options in a Charizard EX deck makes that matchup MUCH easier but its near impossible to beat a turn 1 mewtwo EX/Ralts.
Dude it is crazy how big this meta is for a game so simple, I love it so much, also, man I hate the coin in this game, I swear it’s 70/30 tails, shit is so weighted
I am anyway happy that my favorite Pokemon is sitting at B tier at least. I think Alakazam could make it into Top 8 with some good draws, after some experience I think Khangaskan mught bhe a better pair than Weezing for him since he only requires one colorless energy while Weezing requires you to run double color, or only posion which is not useful since they can swap their Pokemon, and Khanga only takes two cards from your deck which allows to get other useful cards such as supportes or red cards ( a good red card will destroy a Mewtwo player )
Bruh. Mewtwo is higher than Pikachu? Damage wise yes. But damn, the setup for Mewtwo is at least 3 turns. Pikachu would start blasting before the Gardevoir will see the light of day. Not to mention, YOU HAVE TO GET RALTZ KIRLIA AND GARDEVOIR within those 3 turns with raltz appearing first.
Yes mewtwo higher. Eapecially depending on how you constructed your deck you dont necessarily need to have a garden until you're 4-5th turn which is more than doable and fairly easy/consistent when you have other cards to also help cycle your deck faster. You can even live 2 pika attacks early with just mewtwo ex if you have potions which again happens fairly often. Not to mention other methods of stall between Sabrina or walling off with another card. Pretty easy to mewtwo over pika
9/10 I see people get their mewtwo setup and at worst they can just play their mewtwo, hit 50's in 2 turns and kill you even without getting that synergy setup. its overpowered
Agree with most, but feel that centisorch could be a bit higher because similar to arcanine it often is just a faster version of charizard since it is stage 1 and loses 1 energy instead of 2 for each attack. Also blaine arcanine can be ok with rapidash to have some decent early turns while you build the big dog.
How about Lapras EX decks? Sorry if you mentioned it in the video but I kinda had to skip to the end and watch with no audio cause of my current position
Charizard has a winning mu against mewtwo, as well as Arbok Weezing. I agree that mewtwo probably has less decks that hard counter it, however the Pikachu deck is by far the most consistent and its floor draws aren’t nearly as bad as mewtwo.
starmie greninja super slept on in this list edit: reason being greninja is probably the best going first line water has and paired with starmie ex being the best going second is really nice
Starmie Is REALLY good against Mewtwo, if you get turn 2 you can usually 2 shot the mewtwo before it gets it's 4th energy and it works amazingly. When I get my staryu/starmie, just those two cards against a Mewtwo, I'm positive I can win it easily. First turn is harder, and you can 50/50 it with a misty, or if they take one turn longer on Gardevoir
this game might actually be the perfect mobile game. fast games where anything can just super highroll and win. hopefully they dont follow this up with a terrible 2nd set
I think Eggs Ex and Butterfree should have gotten a place on the teir list. It has two good leads in either caterpi or cute into ex. Caterpi finds his own pieces so is far more consistent than Venasaur ex. And butterfree keeps your ex on the field longer while healing itself if your caterpi got tagged after a tutor. Combine that with Erica and its more just as tanky as the venasaur version.
I agree. Eggs Butterfree is a much more consistent deck than Venu Butterfree (Venusaur is tanky enough on its own and don't even need butterfree overall). Eggs is a really good pikachu counter and can't get one-shoted by mewtwo without Giovanni. It gets destroyed by almost any fire deck though.
@ true but considering fire really isn't that prevent I wouldn't really worry too much about it. Alternatively, since both use so little grass-specific energy I could see splashing water for a seaking, just running one butterfree and metapod but two caterpi for the better lead. It would be really nice to have a 60 or 30 card format so you could splash greninja instead but not the case.
Venusaur + Caterpie is a different deck than Venusaur + Butterfree, The idea is that you only have evolutions for Bulbasaur so that Caterpie can search them with Find a Friend.
I find this interesting cause I run Venu/Butterfree/Pidgeot and often demolish the A tier decks along with the Mewtwo/Garde, cant say much about Pika though as I never see them
My favorite deck is arbok wheezing, I use farfetched and giovonni x2 and the trick is to KO with farfetched and koffing while trying to save arbok to trap an EX with poison. With poison and giovonni, farfetched does 60 dmg for 1 energy , weezing 50, and because of Arbil’s lock you can count on their turn for an extra 10 damage to do 60+10+20 poison which is 90 dmg. The damage to energy cost of this deck is extremely efficient but it needs a little help via the 1 farfetched and x2 giovonni ( I don’t use heal pots they don’t help vs ex Pokémon damage )
Pikachu gets countered by a lot but mewtwo usually loses to in the head to head because Pikachu is more consistent. I think if two decks are S tier and one wins the matchup that one has to be the better deck
i was trying a weird butterfree and poliwrath deck... it would be so cool if poliwrath did not have 150 hp. But i still encourage you to try it, its fun
i prefer melmetal with butterfree because of the quicker evo butterfree already need 6 cards, so does poliwrath, the tempo cant catch up to mewtwo/pikachu decks
I've been running Golbat on a Zapdos and it's good to weaken Mewtwo enough for the Zapdos in the back to take out. Only problem is it's really reliant on coin flips for Zapdos.
Mewtwo & Pika can swap between one another. Pika 2HKO Mewtwo before Psydrive. Both are currently strong af due to their kit & less evolutions. Cant wait to see what future support brings!
I don't know if your reviewing the limitless database but fro. A top cut player I use pika zap raichu which has a good win percentage in the matchup. The problem with the percentages listed in limitless is the quality of the players. Last tournament I played got knocked out by the champion using an almost identical deck. I say the quality of the players because facing mewtwo with electric you need to focus on the win condition and not just ill get my bench full and swing with pikachu everytime.
Really nice analysis though i disagree Mewtwo being better. Decks having ways to one shot Pikachu isnt an argument against Pikachu EX. I would argue that Pikachu is format defining and demands decks have a way to deal with Pikachu or it isnt competitively viable. Even the decks that have ways of dealing with Pikachu, Pikachu is just so consistent and doesn't crumble to disruption like Mewtwo EX does. If you notice, every top tier deck is an aggro deck because Pikachu EX demands decks to be fast enough to keep up with it and the best way to beat Mewtwo is to overwhelm them with early game aggression
Charizard takes down everything if he sets up lmao love that deck Half of C tier is barely above F tier to me, the lines are really blurred because any of those decks would just get smashed in a real tournament. They have more weaknesses than strengths, some are just more consistent lol B tier and up are my only solid opinions that are ordered because they’re the only real decks to me for a tourney
It's a wash for me between Pika and Mewtwo. Pika is more frail, but it's faster and easier to set up. That being said, I haven't played Mewtwo Ex since I've yet to pull one.
I have won a lot of matches with Ninetales , Rapidash deck but I've gotten a 8/10 win ratio using Arbok , Nidoking against Mewtwo I guess it's because of the quick hits and being super effective
Charizard has been my best matchup against mewtwo. Sometimes mewtwo is just faster if I draw poorly but charizard eats its best attack and one shots it so as long as I can stall to charizard I can switch it in and usually kill mewtwo and anything else they have
@@toooop9 maybe a dragonite ex will change things. The guy also underestimates hypno dragonite, with a couple of meows it’s at least top of c/low b imo.
Melmetal + greninja is a good combo deck. You can ramp with meltan then go into melmetal hit for 120. Greninja can take off 20 on starmie and mewtwo. I would still but it low B or high C. But I think it’s a better combo than the hypno version.
my alolan exeggutor EX just flipped like 6 tails in a row and i lost right before he appeared in B tier in the video lmao. that has to be what comedy is
Charizard stonks will rise once evolution search comes out. Can tank Mewtwo EX hit and return a KO. And honestly Pikachu exists to check the actual strongest card in this game which is the Starmie EX.
Even though Blastoise is C tier, I go positive against Mewtwo with it. Rare situation where it can one shot mewtwo, and mewtwo cannot one shot it. If your third pokemon is Blastoise and it has no dmg, you pretty much just win unless you left a mon on bench for Sabrina
I use onix deck and it sometimes hardcounter pikachu decks, especially if you go first turn, play onix, use brock, then on second turn use brock again, put energy, and just go choo choo train on every opponent's electric card
id personally say weezing/arbok(/muk) (won 2 recent 300+ player tournies) and venusaur/exeggutor are atleast as strong as the blaine and marowak decks in a. also i think that gengar should be played along farfetchd/kangaskhan rather than hypno. id place it in either low b or high c. but overall this is definitely all reasonable and acurate placed
Never mind but the Stermie EX +Arktos EX Combo woth mysti is the best deck for farming EXP sometime you can clear the game in the first round if you pull arktos and mysti and you get three coins!
fyi: if you say if you draw perfectly on the mewtwo deck ur unbeatable, thats basically what all the other decks are about too. i had too many games where that Kirlia was in my last 5 cards, it costs way too much time if you dont have it immeadiatly.
The second we get Steelix ex Brock is going to be a menace

Haymaker was an incredibly slow deck, it dealt damage in small chunks consistently and used energy and field disruption cards to stop your opponent from being able to set up. The meta in Pokemon TCG is incredibly fast, it's about getting a super high damage pokemon online before you opponent can because the only disruption we have is Sabrina.
Because you can't whiff on energy and your opponent can't disrupt your energy decks like Haymaker can't work.
@@S4ltyTar0 The deck got set up very quickly which is what im trying to emphasize. Sorry i just knew that haymakers energy cost was low thats sorta it mb
so the devs realized this and still didnt add more cards? i dont understand ur point
What are you even talking about lmao? It is the exact opposite, this is an EX meta with high hitting, fast menaces.
@@MCoTEDDYor just introduce great ball or something like it which lets you search your deck for the 2nd evolution you need
I swear I roll at least 75% more tails than heads
I disagree. This is Pokemon TCG my guy. Coin flips are part of the game unlike YGO or Magic. So definitely a high roller coin flip deck can easily stand a chance against Meta decks.
@@Navue-cn2txHe right doe
@@Mix_009 I get at least 90% tails. Just give me heads ONCE Misty, stop being a prude!
@@TwinBladeFury that’s what you get for playing missed-y tbh
That's wrong though. Pikachu requires 2 energy and 3 benched Pokemon which can work against you a lot.
@@ZeroPhilosopher if you have pokeballs and luck Pikachu is just so fire.
« Mewtwo is broken in mirror matchups because he can ohko other mewtwo »
Centiscorch is a great budget option. It isn't as fast as Arcanine unfortunately, but being the middle speed option is still pretty good.
The crazy win streak ive been having with centiskorch is crazy.
the 1 less energy cost (and retreat cost) arcanine provides is kind of a big deal against faster decks where attacking 1 turn earlier can be crucial. charizard on the other hand is better in slower matchups when the opponent lets you set up. centiskorch is kind of stuck in the middle between those two. the fact it's not an ex is good but if they end up KOing your moltres which happens quite often they only need one more point anyways. it's a cool budget alternative though

Problem with Pikachu is if you have like 6 basics to power it then you might not draw it
Great breakdown of the decks and ranking them.
Can confirm that I already got through the 45 win challenge with that deck and that if you can sack a bulbasaur or pinsir to build something up, it’s hard to stop
Idk it’s not as good as other decks but…
Already ? What are you talking about. Everyone has it since like 2 weeks. I did it in 56 Games with articuno + Starmie
So the best counter for this deck, its deck itself
finally someone gave ninetales - rapidash - blaine the respect it deserves. such a fast and lethal deck
Im a big fan on the centiscorch moltres deck purely because it has a great matchup into starmie. I've played around 9 or 10 starmie decks with it, and it seems to work every time I've only lost once to it when i rolled 6 tails in a row on moltres.
Agreed. And it fights mewtwo pretty well if you can get 1 attack from Moltres into mewtwo EX and centiskorch cleans up.
gonna try this on the mismatch mission, thanks
Starmie/greeninja is the best water deck in my opinion add some extra basics like Kangaskhan and he can stall enough to set up greeninja and starmie ex, while still putting up big damage for only one energy
why do you think it's better than Articuno + Starmie?
Got into the game recently just playing casually but pretty fun. Was never a tcg player and pocket dumbs it down a lot for dumb guys like me haha
I’m having way more fun with it rn than the actual TCG. Glad you’re enjoying it!!

@@TillyTCG-y8gI need to take the golem list into a tournament i guess, im heavily favored against ladder mewtwos with it,
Not planning to play tournaments, but this was still helpful to help me understand what to take on ladder for event grinding.
Even if you don't get a good early game, thanks to only giving one energy per defeated pokemon, you can make a comeback
Also since mewtwo doesn't evolve it makes it harder to clean the poison
Nice video, btw
Waiting for a 2nd magneton 😞 super excited to try it when I get it
You underrated venu decks way too much bruh...its really good and once venu is charged there is very few things that stand a chance against it
Yup two butterfrees and a venasaur and you are near invincible. His 100 hours of experience didn't show him that.
And what about the consistency of the setup?
@@bradyclayton3249caterpie helps you get your pokemon.
I am definitely looking forward for new set releases. I got the whole Mewtwo deck on day 2 and I don't like playing it.
IM SO CONFUSED THIS DECK SO SLEPT ON
@ yeah I’ve not met a single other person who runs it myself until now!
What do you think of Mewtwo/Gardevoir with both one baby Mewtwo and one Jinx? Baby Mewtwo is for Pika, Jinx is for Zard
Best deck in format actually
Exeggutor EX/Parasect is my favorite version of the Exeggutor deck. More consistent than the other two versions in my opinion.
I’m curious on your opinion on Mewtwo-Koga. The dark type might offer a good match up against other Mewtwo decks.
The last couple 500+ person events were dominated by Mewtwo it isn't even close. Mewtwo shouid just be it's own tier.
did you listen at all to his reasoning, because if you did you wouldn't have to comment about this.
You clearly never faced a mewtwo that used fossil
9/10 I see people get their mewtwo setup and at worst they can just play their mewtwo, hit 50's in 2 turns and kill you even without getting that synergy setup. its overpowered
What's better? A Pika deck with only one Pika EX card in it, or a full Blaine deck?
Arbok Pidgeot might be C tier but god is it fun to play
Having a good time with Mewtwo/Wheezing deck rn. Kobra, Sabrina, Giovanni, potion, xspeed, red card, pokeball
My man... Venasaur/Butterfree was my main. I hate to admit it, but you're right lol
EDIT: Crap... Vena/Lilli was my backup.
😭😭😭 there is a good venusaur combo!!
Wogglytuff and hypno is another deck I've been using. Yes it's based on coin flips but it is very fun when it works 😂
Dragonite hybrid Koga/Weezing Deck does well against Mewtwo. Need a decent draw but ive liked this one.
My dragonite never puts the Draco damage where I need it before it gets nuked by psydrive + giovanni
I just found that agro executor ex and butterfree quite good, can you review?
How about Lapras EX decks? Sorry if you mentioned it in the video but I kinda had to skip to the end and watch with no audio cause of my current position
Raichu decks have the highest Winrate % in the game now. Wins every pika matchup by a good margin and also winning vs mewtwo
Ive been playing blastoise a lot. I like it cause it can one shot most EX, specifically Mewtwo. But the 5 energy cost hopes for some Misty hit.
Charizard has a winning mu against mewtwo, as well as Arbok Weezing. I agree that mewtwo probably has less decks that hard counter it, however the Pikachu deck is by far the most consistent and its floor draws aren’t nearly as bad as mewtwo.
Sweet always interested to hear some competitive meta news updates
The best version of Alakazam's Deck is Alakazam + Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan have 100 hp and need 1 energy to beat 0, 30 or 60 (flip 2 coin). Its amazing
starmie greninja super slept on in this list
edit: reason being greninja is probably the best going first line water has and paired with starmie ex being the best going second is really nice
It would be really nice to have a 60 or 30 card format so you could splash greninja instead but not the case.
where do we find tournaments for this game? and where do people see what cards they're adding in the near future? thanks in advance
Venusaur + Caterpie is a different deck than Venusaur + Butterfree, The idea is that you only have evolutions for Bulbasaur so that Caterpie can search them with Find a Friend.
I find this interesting cause I run Venu/Butterfree/Pidgeot and often demolish the A tier decks along with the Mewtwo/Garde, cant say much about Pika though as I never see them
algorithm brought me here. Liked, subbed, and commented to bring others:) great content man.
Oh and I use 2 energy and a speed pot it withdraw wheezing to allow me to giovonni that same turn
Pikachu gets countered by a lot but mewtwo usually loses to in the head to head because Pikachu is more consistent. I think if two decks are S tier and one wins the matchup that one has to be the better deck
Any ideas for a Lapras deck and where it would go?
Just worse articuno sadly, it can take the spot of it in any of the decks that run it until you pull the articunos
Love some Primeape/Dugtrio. Great for Pikachu and can beat mewtwo a decent amount if it gets going quickly.
i was trying a weird butterfree and poliwrath deck... it would be so cool if poliwrath did not have 150 hp. But i still encourage you to try it, its fun
i prefer melmetal with butterfree because of the quicker evo

Been loving to play with my alalazam deck to counter charizard, mewtwo and articuno decks
I dont agree with a lot here (venusaur/butterfree under melmetal), but it's an interesting list. P.s. charizard takes down Mewtwo decks
Charizard takes down everything if he sets up lmao love that deck
Half of C tier is barely above F tier to me, the lines are really blurred because any of those decks would just get smashed in a real tournament. They have more weaknesses than strengths, some are just more consistent lol
B tier and up are my only solid opinions that are ordered because they’re the only real decks to me for a tourney
Alakazing should be higher imo, perfect counter for Charizard and Mewtwo, i'd argue that Wheezing+Koga is the best combo in the entire game
Charizard has been my best matchup against mewtwo. Sometimes mewtwo is just faster if I draw poorly but charizard eats its best attack and one shots it so as long as I can stall to charizard I can switch it in and usually kill mewtwo and anything else they have
Wish dragonite was better but it is what it is and i agree with you. I like Dragons so i just hope for some better ones and some support in the future
@@toooop9 maybe a dragonite ex will change things. The guy also underestimates hypno dragonite, with a couple of meows it’s at least top of c/low b imo.
Where are you finding tournaments at?
Yeah I totally agree with u. No retreat cost and 2 energy for 90 dmg is insane
I’m throwing Venusaur EX higher ngl Butterfree on bench mid-late for it’s ability and the Caterpie search early game lets you build up fast😊
Even though Blastoise is C tier, I go positive against Mewtwo with it. Rare situation where it can one shot mewtwo, and mewtwo cannot one shot it. If your third pokemon is Blastoise and it has no dmg, you pretty much just win unless you left a mon on bench for Sabrina
i think jynx is a decent counter to mewtwo. in a mirror matchup, if a jynx is in one, they usually win.
I think you’re undervaluing the wheezing deck considering it plays well into mewtwo
A2 comes out January 29th. I guarantee Gengar, Melmetal, Kabutops, so many decks will come alive very soon
I'm surprised you rate Venusaur and Butterfree so low. I've been winning with it a lot beating Pikachus and Mewtwos
