    Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease affecting humans and other animals caused by parasitic single-celled microorganisms belonging to the Plasmodium group. Malaria causes symptoms that typically include fever, tiredness, vomiting, and headaches. In severe cases it can cause yellow skin, seizures, coma, or death. Symptoms usually begin ten to fifteen days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. If not properly treated, people may have recurrences of the disease months later. In those who have recently survived an infection, reinfection usually causes milder symptoms.This partial resistance disappears over months to years if the person has no continuing exposure to malaria.
    The disease is most commonly transmitted by an infected female Anopheles mosquito.The mosquito bite introduces the parasites from the mosquito's saliva into a person's blood. The parasites travel to the liver where they mature and reproduce.Five species of Plasmodium can infect and be spread by humans. Most deaths are caused by P. falciparum because P. vivax, P. ovale, and P. malariae generally cause a milder form of malaria. The species P. knowlesi rarely causes disease in humans. Malaria is typically diagnosed by the microscopic examination of blood using blood films, or with antigen-based rapid diagnostic tests. Methods that use the polymerase chain reaction to detect the parasite's DNA have been developed, but are not widely used in areas where malaria is common due to their cost and complexity.

    I got malaria when I was 17 years old in California. I was living with Grandparents in Stanislaus County, but was from Arkansas before that. The Doctor said I could have contacted it in Arkansas or Cali either, but I am thinking it was Cali as I had gone frog hunting with Uncles a few weeks earlier. I had been bitten big time by mosquitoes during the frog hunt. They have the symptoms right, I started getting very cold in the evening, shaking and freezing, then a few hours later fever would hit and sweated so much it was unbelievable. It took about three weeks to get over and even then several years later it would hit again in mainly winter time. It was pure hell to say the least.

    • @zero00tolerance
      @zero00tolerance 4 года назад +2

      wait what do you mean several years later it would hit again ? this virus just came back in your body or do you have another mosquito bite ?

      I am infected a week back with malaria and I am experiencing that hell. I almost passed out in the toilet due to excessive sweating. There was a blackout and somehow I managed to clean myself up, stumbled in my bed, drank water and went into a deep slumber. I felt like I died. I keep getting those chills and sweats. Waiting for the report...

I have tried running different test from different hospitals but they can't find what is responsible for my sick and i have decided to live my life like that

      I'm sorry to hear about the persistent challenges you're facing with malaria-like symptoms. It's concerning that despite multiple tests, the cause remains elusive. If conventional medical investigations have not provided a diagnosis, it might be beneficial to consult with a specialist, such as an infectious disease specialist or a travel medicine expert, who may have a broader perspective on infectious diseases. Additionally, consider seeking opinions from healthcare professionals at reputable medical institutions. It's crucial not to resign yourself to living with persistent health issues without exhaustive exploration of potential causes. Comprehensive medical evaluation, including detailed discussions about your symptoms and medical history, could offer insights into finding an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan.

      Malaria can infect anyone, it affects certain populations because the mosquito that spreads the disease is only present in some parts of the world, notably Africa, South East Asia and South America.
