I love how blue lock doesn't throw away common sports tropes like friendship and teamwork, but just emphasizes that if you don't have an ego, individual talent, and individual goals, it doesn't matter how much teamwork you put together. Yes, isagi and his team do work together, but they work for themselves toward a common goal, which helps them push themselves farther.
THIS!!! is why I feel people miss out on this. they don't fully get how great teamwork is but if you aren't winning they are deluding themselves thinking 'least I have my friends with me'. Like bro yall wanted to win right?
@@animelvr99 Yup! it's why I relate to the newer sports anime. Haikyuu, Blue Lock and Aoashi all have characters (especially the MC) that are very much driven to be the best they can be, having friends along the way is cool and all but winning is still the end goal.
actually though lol this guy literally didnt want to give it a try even though its popular, its fine if u dont like it ONLY if u have tried it but thinking it wouldnt be good before watching is an L move
@Anochi dawg he reviews, he has to have a level of objectivity to be a reviewer, and someone who doesn't want to give something a chance because it "feels wrong" aint it
Blue Lock is honestly an anime/manga where I can't truly tell if the MC will succeed. 'But it's the MC, he'll win anyways.' I know that but I actually like how it allows an 'almost' suspense. I'm in love with it. I'm currently reading the manga and trying to watch the anime.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Even though Isagi's control of the field and predictions are absolutely insane, that's the only weapons he have at his disposal so far, and it's not even striker exclusive things. Meanwhile, we have monsters like Rin, Nagi and Bachira, who will completely overwhelm Isagi in a pure 1v1 scenario. So his ascend to the best striker in the world is a very long road. Isagi might as well take a note from Sae and become the best midfielder, he has a lot of potential in that role.
@@DemonerLycan Isagi has no real talent outside of his outdtanding ability of looking really hard and thinking harder, an ability that while most use as a secondary piece to their weapon for success, it's Isagi's only real piece, with his other being a relatively weak and easily outclassed weapon. I can't wait to see Isagi finally develop something that only "he" can do
Tbh I do kinda want Isagi to just have 1 really good game and get a hattrick and dominate just for once in the manga. Getting a bit repetitive with every match being really close and leading to a sudden death last play for the win.
@deeznoots6241 spoiler . yea true but atleast now he got one of the arsenal of top players in the world . the meta thing . now he needs some physical/mental training to use that 25/7 then learn some skills to goal and reproduce it . hes getting there .
I basically got tired of power of friendship and teamwork bullshit and I just wanted the characters to be arrogant egotistical bastards and I ate up 194 chapters of it and still want more. It's a fresh take of sports anime/manga, it's a literal battlefield where if you hesitate for a split second, someone will "devour" you, making you lose your worth and if they do devour you, you either stop there or do the same thing to them. The series is the definition of the saying "Dog eat dog". Everyone is an enemy, doesn't matter if you're team or a close friends, because end of the day, there can only be one best striker. No fucking "We will go to the nationals!", nah it's damn "I'm going to the world cup and show the whole planet who's number 1".
Honestly as much as I love that kind of trope it does get too cliche and too much especially if done wrong But bluelock when I first known of it around last year I was HOOKED and a breath of fresh air. I binge it a lot lol I love it sm and I'm so excited to see the other manga scenes animated- literally so hyped.
W fucking description, thats how everyone feels while reading the manga Ive been caught up for a while now.. But I am so temptedto reread this masterpiece of a sports manga...
The thing with Blue Lock is that you have to read between the lines. If you take only the text, then the message of the story is that being a POS and stepping all over your frineds is the only way to win. If you read the subtext however, you realize that it's a story about personal ambition and the importance of self esteem and defining who you are, while forming relationships with those around you, who're all on the same path of personal improvement
Blue Lock really hit me well. I played mid-field for many years and all the best forwards I played with always had a bit of an edge and ego. You have to really believe you’re the best to be playing that position. You HAVE to make the play.
the thing i love the most about blue lock is that it makes you think about the concept of "for me to win, someone else has to lose" and the whole idea of "am i a jerk for being happy about this?" makes you question why defeating someone feels so good, it's a concept that amuses me, playing a single player game or even co-op game is nothing compared to a competitive game, and this is coming from someone who loves basketball, i understand that feeling, and it's freaking awesome!
In football you can’t defeat someone, but a team can defeat other team , That’s why you will never feel is you the one except if you were arrogant that you don’t care or trust your teammates
@@everythingsfine1395 I have been playing football for 10 years and what you said made no sense, every player wants to contribute individually, the team winning is the goal but being able to play well should be every players objective
@@everythingsfine1395 dude I don't even play any sport and I know that you're wrong. There's a reason why the term "star player" exists, it brings a sense of accomplishment to be the "best player" in a team full of the "best players", of course the "best" is subjective but that doesn't make it less true for athletes who always strive to be the "best"
Another aspect that makes blue lock so refreshing is it is an absolutely antithetical piece of work to the massive body of sports manga/anime. We often forget that manga and anime all come from the same country and culture, so we, as readers, can often forget how intricately the two are tied together. Bluelock's birth comes from ego recognizing the limits of the Japanese mentality in creating a singular transcendent striker. You can almost feel the subconscious friction and the discomfort while watching it because it goes against the anime culture we've naturally adopted. It's a great exercise in how incorporating different perspectives can create unexpected growth, and how fear of change can create stagnation towards certain goals.
The sort of counterpoint to this us it appears to go against every nit of football knowledge most have, it does offer some real methodology for developing strikers. Strikers do need to be a certain amount selfish, have an ego etc. Had a strikers on my travel team growing up who was that way. He'd lose the ball taking on defenders he didn't need to, take low percentage shots himself instead of passing, but he would also always find the back of the net when we really needed it.
I'm so damn glad that people are loving it and finding it unique, I stumbled upon blue lock manga through a Instagram story I started it for two reasons one being the artstyle 2nd being soccer related. I really love artstyles when it comes to comics maybe that's why I love comic variant covers so much and after I read blue lock I am glad read it, Blue Lock is one of the edgiest manga I've read and its edgieness is good kind.
Blue lock is definitely my favourite series this season, looking forward to a new episode every week. Thanks for making this and also for using my piano cover so well ;)
When I heard this anime would be the new best sports anime, I thought people were tripping since Haikyuu was a thing but now...slowly but surely I kinda understand what they mean. 😭 Every episode gets better and better and is slowly catching up to Haikyuu. It's only a matter of time now...
its only gonna get better at the second selection arc and so on. the first selection arc was the weakest arc in Blue lock not saying its bad but if comparing to other arc of the series its the least.
i don't get the obsession of comparing blue lock with haikyuu. they are completely different takes on sports anime (that is the entire point of blue lock's popularity, the whole "ego" thing over the power of friendship). as far as i'm concerned, haikyuu is already untouchable in that realm, the best thing that blue lock should do is creating its own realm without being compared to other sports anime
I literally watched this on a whim knowing nothing about it. I think it popped up in recommended right after I finished assignation classroom. So far I’m hooked, it’s so hype when they get in the zone and their eyes do the thing
the more I read Blue Lock, the more I realised that it is legit the same as other sports manga/anime, just in another perspective. The concept of having the biggest ego that is backup by your talent (every antagonist team leaders ever), devour your teammates and your opponents then exceeds your best (simply put, to want to win, to be challenged, like Sakuragi vs Kurawa, Hinata and Kageyama), the whole match will reconstruct around the current "main actor/king" of the match (the monster duo (Haikyuu) always make enemy change strategies and Karasuno themselves change in order to block other teams' ace), the change of "main actor/king", be devoured and then devour others (the monster duo shines -> be blocked (or see other players are getting the spotlight -> exceeds their limits and fight 101%), you cannot do what your body not allow, only change your way of thinking (that's why strategies exists) or change your way of doing (Hinata learn the way other players move and receive), the "flow" (Kuroko's "zone"), chemical reactions (or teamwork) are created between 2 people showing their best, and finally the lost teams/players are lost because they can't "improvise" or "adapt" or simply because of "luck" (which are also concepts explained in Blue Lock) I find Blue Locks so fucking interesting and fascinating as it look into the aspect of what really make a win. They explained the abstract of teamwork, exceeds your potential, what is in the player who can change the match, luck, adapt to the enemy, etc. in the form of real, logical, physical words, plays, thoughts.
Yes. It still has the teamwork, the character development, the character/philosophy conflicts. But it is through the eyes of people who want to be the very best like no one ever was.
It is similar in formula, but very different when looking at each part individually. For one, these people will leave you behind if you aren’t good enough( isagi and random not barou guy) (reo and nagi). Devouring is a selfish act of taking others abilities so you can beat them. Flow is in pretty much every sports anime. Spoiler It’s also way more obvious as the manga goes on that on the field, isagi is just a master manipulator. He uses his pawns expertly but it is definitely not friendship.
Takes alot to admit what you did, and welcome to Blue Lock you diamond in the rough. The unexpected nature of what Blue Lock goes does down is by far nothing to be seen in other sports animes, so i can't wait for others to experience what it'll bring.
blue is absolutely one of my favorite sports anime’s cause even tho it has their ‘power up’s’ and stuff making it a bit unrealistic. as an ex soccer player i can confirm that it really gets in their about the dog eats dog world that i haven’t seen many other sports anime get too much into (you’ll see more examples of this in later episodes) in top tier soccer clubs (like i was in) you have to be an absolute beast, eat, sleep breathe soccer. and if you don’t ah e that then you’re screwed. and i’m a training facility i was in they had two rules i apply in daily my life. 1. if you have the ball and don’t fully intend to score 101 % then pass it to someone who will 2. if you can do it yourself, then do it. don’t give up or pass the ball until you absolutely can not. even tho that’s not how pros play, (focusing on passing and trick plays) we were there to focus on ourselves, to better ourselves for our separate teams, not become a big team. my god was it a blood bath. absolutely awful
8:00 - Blue lock is much more deep and profound than other sports anime out there. I’ve learned more from this manga for both soccer and life than in any other sports show. It gets deep.
As someone who was a former college athlete, granted I was a swimmer which isn't fully a team sport, ego plays a huge part in athletics. You never get to be the best by not thinking you're the best.
I got inspired by bluelock in a rlly weird way, it helped me unlock more potential for martial arts (especially the spatial awareness part instead of keeping a peripheral and narrow view combined with certain movements and muscle activations + movements)… It was truly an eye-opener as well as lots entertainment.
I'm so glad Blue Lock didn't flop and its amazing seeing the manga I so dearly love getting so much recognition... Blue Lock will prob be one of my favorite manga in general with ofc Berserk and Vagabond maybe soon to be Vinland saga just because of how it stands out in the sports genre.... The anime seems amazing so far and I don't doubt it will end amazingly... So yea Def a W anime and manga...
This show kinda hooked me in a way no other sports anime has not only is it hype but its the closest thing to a cross country or distant runner type of anime in terms of characters sense football and cross country runners aren't that different only just one group is good at football/soccer and the other group is insane and this group of characters have that level of not being right in the head that group encouragement and rivalry and individualism in competition you would get out of a hypothetical cross country anime If that concept would not be boring as hell
Yes you never watched football and Bluelock fans never have so or too low iq to understand it , football is way amazing and beautiful and entertaining, and it’s nothing near to Bluelock
As for the “Haikyuu vs. Blue Lock” debate: while Haikyuu and Blue Lock are both sports anime, they fundamentally excel at different things. Blue Lock its hype and shounen-like power-ups, Haikyuu its characters and philosophies. That’s why I think it’s hard to say if Blue Lock will “surpass” Haikyuu as a sports anime. Nevertheless, I can’t wait to see where Blue Lock goes. Great video btw!!
It's not a competition. It's better to appreciate the uniqueness of different sports Anime than to compare them. Eyeshield 21 is not Kuro no basket. Inazuma eleven is not diamond no ace. And it doesn't matter.
Yeah, I agree. It definitely wasn’t clear with my comment, but I don’t think they should be directly compared just because they are both sports anime. I have seen countless people comparing the two and saying that BL would surpass Haikyuu, so this was my view on that.
Just to add to the Haikyuu part, it makes me quite mad when people say it has boring characters and stuff when in terms of modern sports animanga it has probably some of the best character writing
Both are absolutely amazing. I have read both manga and I can't just decide which is the best. In the first place, they have a very different essence. That's why I don't want to compare
So... this is like having teams of 6 Ushiwakas and Bokutos play against each other? I could see Washijo trying something like that. Thanks for the video, I'll give it a try))
Don't forget to throw in some Kageyamas, Oikawas, Atsumus, Hinatas and Sakusas. Basically anyone who makes their sport, their life. Nothing wrong with it, but describes these characters to a T.
@@gaaraxnaru Sakusa too, but I only thought of spikers and mostly aces, because they can be compared with strikers in football. Setters are more like midfield players and playmakers to me. So if Blue lock was about volleyball, I think there would only be spikers like Asahi, Iwaizumi. Mad dog could be there too probably. Other than that you are right, everyone with that passion and love for the sport can be here.
@@amonra8393 Hinata is technically a spiker, but I get your point too. My main thing was pointing out that all these characters made the sport their entire life pretty much and were willing to put everything on the line for it, much like the Blue Lock characters.
This man can’t miss, gonna watch after I leave the mosque also do videos about the soccer manga called be blues and it’s characters and themes, I think u will like it, pls post more we would be ready to support in an instant
Blue Lock tackle the issue of being a 'star player' . It's that Kobe mentality shit where anime like Haikyuu tackles how important team work and friendship is in your life Blue Lock tackles something of the opposite. People who sees BL as an only shounen type power up hype show don't understand how important individuality is. Think of Kobe as a play maker that is what is all about. Play makers often be considered assholes: Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, Messi, and many other play makers because in the end of the day, they play to WIN. These people MAKE their team who they are by showing themselves as their most valuable asset and thats that, therefore forcing the others to push their limits or else they got canned or worse forever known by fans as the weak link. It's toxic for regular corporate work, it's annoying for regular people, but for people who HAVE BEEN a professional athlete the message is more than relatable for us
thats where you are wrong, messi is not asshole. ur opinion is already invalidated. messi assisted a lot more than his goals. he is a playmaker that creates chances for the team even for himself.
@@stevtacular3855 your argument just got FUCKED over without even answering my questions. I don't think you understand the whole theme of this show itself. The point is being the PLAYMAKER. You're just self inserting your loser self by not accepting what the show is trying to highlight. Which is the same POINT the Last Dance Netflix special was all about.
Actually I really resonate this, I didn't think I could stomach an anime so individually focused because I was always a team-first player in sports and in life in general. I think Blue Lock is something beyond that though, and I'm very excited to see where the story goes. I think Blue Lock reminded me a lot of the innate desire to chase glory and to succeed through your own merits; it reminds us that we all should strive to become the best that we can.
The beginning is so perfect the way you bring up how i and so many others think of sports anime and how blue lock just shatters it is such a necessary thing to say
"i was wrong blue lock is phenomenal" Me: well duh Blue lock is amazing for many reasons, but the biggest reason is that you can tell a lot of thought was put into this "crazy" concept for team sports. So much so that it starts to stop sounding crazy. There is some truth to how ego plays a role in any sport where a player scores especially high. Blue lock gets into the mind of someone with the mentality first and foremost "ITS ME. I'm scoring this one". Then they pit 100s of people exactly like that against each other in a battle royale, Except you kill the others by scoring goals. It sharpens the ego of each one there by pitting them against each other, because it forces you to never give up the will to score and stand out among the others. Its simple yet smart, its exciting, but most importantly its different.
Nah bro I thought that blue lock is some non-intersecting anime ,but when I started to watch it I could help but it was so exciting, interesting and as ya said fun I don't like to read mangas but blue lock made me read it
I love blue lock because its different from other sports anime. It's the complete opposite of haikyuu and kuroko no basket. When you win a game in most sports anime, you shake the opponents hand and they hope for you to win too and everything is wholesome. When you win a game in blue lock, they crush people's dreams and feel good while doing so, growing their ego. The opponents have a hatred for them, and in blue lock, you have to survive and become the top. You eventually have to eliminate your own friends, and you friends try to eliminate you. This concept is unique, and this is now one of my favorite sports anime.
Just from hearing the beginning of ur vid I feel like what blue lock is targeting is being the absolute best at what you do which imo has a lot more nuanced and deeper things involved (for example restructuring how we think about ego). A quote I heard from a sports scientist that works with lots of athletes went something like "I can make anyone an Olympic level athlete but making them win multiple gold medals ? now that's the trick". I like blue lock because the only real difference that athletes can have is mindset we see it in kobe bryant for example not especially physically gifted when compared to players like shaq lets say yet he still excelled, same with steph. What makes bluelock interesting is how its targeting an aspect of sports in anime which is overlooked and thats the mindset + harsh realities of what it takes to be the best (Ao ashi also covers this idea pretty nicely as well while also having the more traditional sports anime vibe so maybe you will prefer that, would recommend the manga over the anime though). Its interesting you thought you wouldnt like it because its "different" because for me that was exactly why I thought I would like it XD not to say that I dont enjoy the traditional sports anime approach but the opening explanations Ego gave made so much sense that I just new this would be a hit.
There are a lot of Blue Lock haters out there, and a huge majority of them happen to be Haikyuu fans because in reality they don't even fucking play any sport. I am a manga reader, and I am here to say, if they keep up this level of animation for the next seasons, this will become one of, if not, the best sports anime ever as the Manga is an absolute banger, I am not a sports manga fan and yet I picked this up because it's just different man.
Passionate football fans hates Bluelock as well and I’m one of them , because i love football that much and it’s the only sport i care about and practice i disliked bluelock , and because im literally a progressive leftist i hate this ego B.S and nationalism and shits in this manga that has nothing to do with the actual sport
@@everythingsfine1395 I guess you really hate Karl Heinz Schneider from Captain Tsubasa then? Because he is everything you just admitted to hate. He is way more egotistical and is a greater patriot than even Tsubasa which is why Tsubasa is never able to beat him 1v1, but from the power of "friendship and teamwork", because plot armor. However, through Blue Lock, we will witness the creation of "The Young Emperor" of Japan and you bet your ass I'm excited for it. The 5 qualities required in Football is Speed, Skill, Strength, Smartness and Spirit. Spirit or Ego is the most important out of all of them.
@@bachelorsensei9437 I didn’t watch tsubasa to begin with , i’ll never watch it , i’ll bever watch Bluelock, ao ashi was really in spot but i’ll not continue watching it , because i don’t really feel it , And about football aspects , ego , spirit? Wtf is that , every position in football does need certain requirements and that also depends on the philosophy of the club itself, bayern and barca and man city who are more into possession and attacking philosophies needs whole different tasks than those players who playes in a defensive and counter attacking philosophies as madrid and spurs ect But ego ? Why the fuck players need that , desire to win its not ego , players can have that much ego and arrogance and will up ending warming the bench or playing in unknown team if they don’t play well . And messi who statically the best football player doesn’t have EGO , and he’s not overconfident, and he’s still the player who scored the most in finals , ego is B.S
@@bachelorsensei9437 Most qualities you mentioned are wrong , It just show that you have no real knowledge on football, pace it’s needed on wingers and side backs in modern football Strength is needed in forward strikers and whole defenders And football intelligence it’s what makes the player average or superior
@@everythingsfine1395 Pace is better on everybody. Strength is better on everybody. And intelligence is better on every position. Stop pretending like you are some great wizard of football, you don't know shit. There is no "perfect quality for a perfect position". Football isn't such a straight-forward game. Go do some research on Miroslav Klose. He doesn't have the skills of Ronaldo, or the pace of Messi and yet he is the all time top scorer of FIFA world cup and a champion.
Personally I love how they present the message of the show. On the surface it’s about this mad sports-scientist trying to condition these athletes into being unflappable egoists willing to claw and scratch at each other to be the last one standing. But notice how the most important players in most matches tend to be essentially playmakers, like Isagi, whose unique ability revolves around reading the game and his teammates and “sniffing” out the best ways for his team to score. And when that one dude ratted his team out and switched squads in the middle of a game, his selfish behavior wasn’t celebrated, it was scolded. So it does an amazing job of depicting why having a healthy ego is important, and the difference between toxic ego and good ego. An unwavering belief in yourself, a striving need to top your competitors, a hunger to be the best. You can still have that and be a great teammate. I promise you there’s no top athlete in the world who doesn’t have an ego.
It is really something to watch this genre compared to others. It even got me motivated to play Basketball after watching kuroko no Basket. I hope that the Sport genre will get gonna be more epic in the future
one of the best things about blue lock is how thematically consistent it is. every time someone willingly gives the spotlight to someone else and stops playing for themselves, you can bet the story is gonna punish them for it eventually. ALSO the point that you being the best you can possibly be and playing for yourself which ends up pushing everyone around you forward too is actually kino
To my amazement, Bluelock turn into the show I am the most excited this season. I normally don't care for Sports Anime with exception of Hikyu!! , and I watched the first episode because of the hype, fully intending to drop. The premise isn't realistic, yet I cannot say completely bogus, either. The initial speech Ego made about Japanese being so good at team work and perfecting our own part well that we don't easily produce an individual that utterly stands out and pull the rest of the team -- that was so real. Japanese Soccer team hasn't been anywhere close to winning the World cup. Who to say that this is a wrong way to find/grow our own David Beckham? So I am buying it for now, and now I want to see how these boys navigate the elimination. So far, it has been unpredictable and massively entertaining. It is so cleverly set up, that work with team and win as team is not the only strategy. It is fascinating.
I have watched only watched a couple animes so far, One Piece, haikyu, Demonslayer, 4 seasons of bleach (like 100 episodes I dont remember) and 10 episodes of black clover but and I had a tendency to when they tried to get me hype easily predict the outcome and just get bored waiting for it to end but blue lock- it was amazing it was the only anime I have watched in just one day and its so unpredictable and crazy its just amazing.
This is the first sports manga that I ever read because I watched the first episode of the anime and I couldn’t wait. I got caught up to date on the manga in 2 days. I seriously could not stop reading and I’m so excited to watch when it finally all gets adapted to anime. It’s going to be unreal watching some of these things go down.
As a football fan I got interested after the Japan vs Germany game. It's definitely growing on me with each episode. Watching it as a football fan I find moments that are frustrating but also some that are impressive.
I love the contrast of the slow, powerful realizations and rapid action conveying the feeling of time being inconstent in a way that many athletes experience in their sport.
And now that the anime is about to end it's season let me tell you that despite going against what sports anime is about, one pillar of the genre never went away: comradeship. And despite being in a dog eats dog environment, every single character values and treasures the bonds they forged with their teammates, especially the mc Isagi, especially because with them, Isagi is playing a soccer he never thought it was possible.
This anime is more psychological than anything else and I love it for that. Sadly I couldn't get into other sports anime, the power of friendship is cool and all, but it felt kinda tame, I really liked Hajime no Ippo though, but that's an old time favourite of mine, before i even realized "oh it's a sports anime". Blue Lock is phenomenal on more than one level and the thing they talk about is completely true, if you don't look after yourself or prioritise yourself, you'll never get anywhere and you can't help anyone when the time comes. As much as I hate the admit, the whole "it's the thought that counts" doesn't exist. What exists are results.
@@HarshReviews I gave blue lock a chance because i love football so much that i watch it daily and playing it from a young age as hobby , while i was reading it i was getting angrier and angrier , i just dislike football getting ruined that way , teamwork , collectivity, chemistry , tactics, strategies was all dropped to watch a screaming self obsessed arrogant fighting to get an assist instead of goal , Messi who is considered the best player football have ever witnessed and he’s exactly the very opposite of what Blue lock B.S . Football it’s the best teamwork sports and sport to ever exists , messi , yes people are after the hype and animation but the manga is providing toxicity instead of real football knowledge
@@everythingsfine1395 let me guess, dropped chapter 1 like i said, missing out fr NOOOO YOU HAVE TO LE TEAMWORK(mc's skill literally requires teamwork), LE CHEMISTRY NO WHERE ARE THE TACTICS dont even get what is so hard to understand about what ego is talking about, its just that japanese players lack the "im built different" mentality to the point they're too scared to 1v1 the keeper, so blue lock is built for them to discover that ego, confidence, drive to succeed
@@everythingsfine1395 It's toxic if you consider it a football or sports anime. It's battle royale stylized as football. I haven't read other football mangas but Ao Ashi is the better one if you want something sports-centric. That's where I first learnt of the "triangle" and "5-lane" principle and made me love the sport more. It's a series of turning a selfish striker into one of the best assist/playmaker ever while scoring for himself as well.
Blue lock always felt right to me. The concept of friendship and bonds are kind of overused for me and i love that this anime is about Egoism since it goes against every other sports anime. Hell even episode 1 they spit in the face of the concept of teamwork. It also shows all the best players are also kind of Egoists. Egoism is always looked down upon. Negatively it is arrogance, but positively it is Overwhelming confidence
same fr i feel like the ppl who have the idea that egoism is arrogance are sore losers and are projecting since when was egoism ever arrogant if anything egoistic ppl tend to be smart and more compassionate
I - as a general rule - hate sports anime, I've only had 1 other anime I've enjoyed that's sports related in all the time I've been a fan and that was Hajime no Ippo, that's primarily because while each character had their amazing actions and visuals, there was no over the top nature about it, it was about BOXING and that was what drew me in. So when I learned there would be a football anime I thought to myself it'd be exactly like every other sports anime and the main protag is the best ever and is refining his skills with his teammates and that it would end up being him and a rival dukeing it out at the end for the best position. Then I saw the trailer and I had to shelve that thinking because the only thing I saw was football being translated to an anime in perfect format. and I was so there for it and still am, each of the team have their own skills that are being refined by the Block Lock process and I can see what Ego is doing by forcing them to all try and figure out a new way to play the game. and I love it, everything is so damn cool, I haven't been this pumped for any sports anime but this...this is freaking brilliant!
I watched the first six episodes out so far and next thing I know I'm at the most recent chapter of the Manga and I'm still hungry for more. Also, I feel that the main conceit of Blue Lock can be summed up with this Michael Jordan quote - "There's no I in team, but there is in win."

Ikr, it feels great to have an Indian creator who feels the medium for what it wants to express. Most Indian anime creators I see just care about the fights and powerscaling. That's fine too, but a lot of us enjoy looking into the medium's finer points, and the message it wants to convey. This is such a good channel.

if you guys like blue lock, i highly recomend picking up the manga. After a friend recomended it to me i sat down and read almost 200 chapters in one sitting. The blue lock manga is 200 chapters of pure high octane and hype matches with some amazing art! 10/10 highly recomend, just give it a few chapters ;)
The author kaneshiro muneyuki is the author of jagan, by the will of the gods, and other brilliant manga. He knows everything we love- Hype, stupidity, and over the top ideas that are so crazy, they just might work. If you like chainsaw man, this is the manga for you. Somehow, there's no way to predict what will happen and the visuals and CGI as well as the manga art portray such perfectly. Something cool happens all the time and it never stops being interesting. Similar to how haikyuu depicts the essence of hard work and winning- Blue lock depicts the struggles of young boys being forced to do anything for what they love. It has the same themes, but does it in a new way saying "I can't let it end here!" "I want to win" and eventually "WE WON!!!!!"
Blue lock is that one anime that SHOWS egoism is good when done right. I CANNOT explain how hype and competitive and fired up I get just seeing the rivalry between these neck to neck matches go.
i picked up the manga after i watched episode one and as someone who is now caught up on it, id say its definitely worth the read if you enjoyed the episodes we have so far!!
What I love about it is it doesn't try to be a real sports anime, that follows on teamwork and friendship as its main themes, but as you watch/read you still see it tackle these themes while remaining true to the main one. We have players becoming close friends, while still hyped to become the best. They KNOW there's only going to be 1 BEST. But I can't help but love how each of them realizes their individual strengths with each match, thus their auras turning their own individual colors from blue as they come to different realisations.✨️ Plus the total unpredictability always has me clicking on the next episode!! And the ridiculous moves🤯🤯😂😂 I love it!!
After Haikyuu ended, I was desperately trying to find a new manga to get invested in. Haikyuu is my all-time favorite manga!! Furudate is a genius. I love how it inspired many to create character studies and discuss philosophy. The community is so fun to interact with! It was such an amazing manga to experience. I truly did not expect the hole in my heart to be patched by Blue Lock. The main idea is so insane.. One person's crazy philosophy being put to the test?? The over-the-top dialogue. Every second of a single match being broken down and explained in the wildest of ways!? Blue Lock's insane storytelling has me hooked! I've never read a sports manga like this. I won't call it a philosophical masterpiece. Not yet at least. But it's fun, and that's all that matters. I'm glad I gave it a shot. The hype Blue Lock produces is insane lol
The thing is, Blue Lock isn't really a sports anime. It is a shonen done in the *style* of a sports anime. And while I appreciate that people like the show, as someone who played the sport and still watches it extensively, for me, blue lock is simply too antithetical to how the sport is actually taught and played. Spain literally won a world cup by using teamwork and passing other teams into oblivion. And if all you needed to win the world cup was a single world class striker, then Poland should be a title contender (they have Robert Lewandowski, arguably the best striker on the planet), yet they aren't even likely to get out of their group in this world cup.
i have never watched blue lock, but I will. It reminds me of the vibes I got from watching Kuroko no basket, which I believe is the best sports anime ever created (lol, yes that is totally biased). Cant wait to watch this one.
I have never watched sports anime. It just never appealed to me. The volleyball one looked fun but I never checked it out. A streamer I watch just mentioned it out of the blue saying he was excited for the anime. He explained the premise and I was hooked (I did think the players died after being eliminated). Since then I’ve been reading the manga and buying the volumes. I’ve been loving this series so fucking much.
I used to play goalkeeper then later defender due to an arm injury but the start of blue lock reminded me of PE lessons at school where all the strikers were on one team and it never worked out for them because the none football players realised strategy was important and the idiots would just not work together. The ego reminded me of a few games were I would play midfield and get a chance to score too bad I was a fucking terrible shot
The first episode is really trippy and misleading but after some few episodes especially the new episode today, I can say it deserves the hype that it had. Comparing to Ao Ashi, they have the same weapon which is spatial awareness but Ao Ashi did it better I think for now but Ao Ashi still my favorite from this two.
After catching upto both manga, I personally love Ao Ashi more and simply think it's much better. But that doesn't mean Blue Lock isn't good, it's also one of the best mangas I've read. But then again both of them are also very different from each other. Like everyone says, Blue lock is more shonen type. While ao ashi is much more realistic and raw. Even while being realistic, the author still made it just as hype or even more hype than the blue lock matches. The characters there are many more times mature and the character development is through the roof (talking about Akutsu, others too). For now Haikyu and Ao Ashi are still a league above for me and that might not really change. I still love blue lock for what it's going for though.
I daresay I'm loving Blue Lock more than basically any sports anime at the 5 episode mark. Good video! EVERYTHING is raw HYPE. 20 more episodes of good food ⚽
Isagi reminds me of Thomas muller. Like isagi muller doesn't have that much weapons in his arsenal but in his peak muller was just class there are not many players like him. He is always 2 or 3 strides ahead of the def line when a pass is played and he is not a quick player either. He is called Raumdeuter for a reason.
I've learned so much about my views on anime recently. there's so many animes that I've refused to watch either because of the animation style or the concept sounded strange. like for sasaki to miyano, now considered my all time favorite anime, I refused to watch it becuase the promotional posters looked weird to me. but the anime was amazing 100%. for blue lock, I didn't want to watch it simply because I'm not a sports fan. and I tried watching haikyuu but couldn't really get into it. but I decided to give it a try and best decision in my life. even though I'm not a sports fan, I guess I can enjoy sports animes simply because of one thing. it's animated. meaning they're able to go beyond the laws of physics and human capabilities. such as episode 7 with chigiri. (won't spoil what happened but what he did was incredible. and no feat any real human could pull off.) and it seems they have 24 episodes planned in one go. instead of 12 and us having to wait around for a year till season 2 to get the other 12.
Same like basketball anmie that I forgot the name but it feels like anmie giveing out anmie sports
@@animelvr99 Yup! it's why I relate to the newer sports anime. Haikyuu, Blue Lock and Aoashi all have characters (especially the MC) that are very much driven to be the best they can be, having friends along the way is cool and all but winning is still the end goal.
Well you are in for some pleasant surprises

Getting a bit repetitive with every match being really close and leading to a sudden death last play for the win.

yea true but atleast now he got one of the arsenal of top players in the world . the meta thing . now he needs some physical/mental training to use that 25/7 then learn some skills to goal and reproduce it . hes getting there .
@@Randus1058 No spoilers but it takes him a while but he finally realizes that his is glaring weakness
Honestly as much as I love that kind of trope it does get too cliche and too much especially if done wrong
But bluelock when I first known of it around last year I was HOOKED and a breath of fresh air.
I binge it a lot lol I love it sm and I'm so excited to see the other manga scenes animated- literally so hyped.

Also, it doesn't follow the normal Sports Genre formula either
this by far is the best point i ever read, especially with how you got to connect/reflect Japanese culture in such a way to Blue Lock o-o
@@georgem1874 well, blue lock also teaches you to play rationally.

@Manga Enthusiast 😂😂 Oops, I forgot to say my favorite sports anime. Mb mb.
its only gonna get better at the second selection arc and so on. the first selection arc was the weakest arc in Blue lock not saying its bad but if comparing to other arc of the series its the least.
And it's the 1st season lmao
i don't get the obsession of comparing blue lock with haikyuu. they are completely different takes on sports anime (that is the entire point of blue lock's popularity, the whole "ego" thing over the power of friendship). as far as i'm concerned, haikyuu is already untouchable in that realm, the best thing that blue lock should do is creating its own realm without being compared to other sports anime
@@lvl1asianondrugs102 fully agree this is the arc that has like no hype comparing it to other arcs
The concept of having the biggest ego that is backup by your talent (every antagonist team leaders ever), devour your teammates and your opponents then exceeds your best (simply put, to want to win, to be challenged, like Sakuragi vs Kurawa, Hinata and Kageyama), the whole match will reconstruct around the current "main actor/king" of the match (the monster duo (Haikyuu) always make enemy change strategies and Karasuno themselves change in order to block other teams' ace), the change of "main actor/king", be devoured and then devour others (the monster duo shines -> be blocked (or see other players are getting the spotlight -> exceeds their limits and fight 101%), you cannot do what your body not allow, only change your way of thinking (that's why strategies exists) or change your way of doing (Hinata learn the way other players move and receive), the "flow" (Kuroko's "zone"), chemical reactions (or teamwork) are created between 2 people showing their best, and finally the lost teams/players are lost because they can't "improvise" or "adapt" or simply because of "luck" (which are also concepts explained in Blue Lock)
I find Blue Locks so fucking interesting and fascinating as it look into the aspect of what really make a win. They explained the abstract of teamwork, exceeds your potential, what is in the player who can change the match, luck, adapt to the enemy, etc. in the form of real, logical, physical words, plays, thoughts.
anyone who doesnt get this is low iq
Spoiler
It’s also way more obvious as the manga goes on that on the field, isagi is just a master manipulator. He uses his pawns expertly but it is definitely not friendship.
Takes alot to admit what you did,
and welcome to Blue Lock you diamond in the rough.
The unexpected nature of what Blue Lock goes does down is by far nothing to be seen in other sports animes, so i can't wait for others to experience what it'll bring.
blue is absolutely one of my favorite sports anime’s cause even tho it has their ‘power up’s’ and stuff making it a bit unrealistic. as an ex soccer player i can confirm that it really gets in their about the dog eats dog world that i haven’t seen many other sports anime get too much into (you’ll see more examples of this in later episodes)
in top tier soccer clubs (like i was in) you have to be an absolute beast, eat, sleep breathe soccer. and if you don’t ah e that then you’re screwed. and i’m a training facility i was in they had two rules i apply in daily my life.
1. if you have the ball and don’t fully intend to score 101 % then pass it to someone who will
2. if you can do it yourself, then do it. don’t give up or pass the ball until you absolutely can not.
even tho that’s not how pros play, (focusing on passing and trick plays) we were there to focus on ourselves, to better ourselves for our separate teams, not become a big team. my god was it a blood bath. absolutely awful
Best manga I've read this year. It truly deserve all the hype.
8:00 - Blue lock is much more deep and profound than other sports anime out there. I’ve learned more from this manga for both soccer and life than in any other sports show. It gets deep.
Agreed! I have caught up to the manga at this point, and man did that statement not age well 😂
As someone who was a former college athlete, granted I was a swimmer which isn't fully a team sport, ego plays a huge part in athletics.
Yea the manga also has great art and some of the colored panels are godly
This show kinda hooked me in a way no other sports anime has not only is it hype but its the closest thing to a cross country or distant runner type of anime in terms of characters sense football and cross country runners aren't that different only just one group is good at football/soccer and the other group is insane and this group of characters have that level of not being right in the head that group encouragement and rivalry and individualism in competition you would get out of a hypothetical cross country anime If that concept would not be boring as hell
I was about to ask you for a Blue Lock review very well made, as always. I hope you can do more as Blue Lock progresses!

@@everythingsfine1395 okay bro 💀
Blue Lock is ABSOLUTELY my favorite sport anime. TOP 1 of my list.
The only thing with Blue Lock is that as a football player there are too many things that are so wrong in there
Both are absolutely amazing.

@@gaaraxnaru Sakusa too, but I only thought of spikers and mostly aces, because they can be compared with strikers in football. Setters are more like midfield players and playmakers to me. It's toxic for regular corporate work, it's annoying for regular people, but for people who HAVE BEEN a professional athlete the message is more than relatable for us
thats where you are wrong, messi is not asshole. ur opinion is already invalidated. messi assisted a lot more than his goals. he is a playmaker that creates chances for the team even for himself.
messi didnt score a lot in copa america but did create a lot of scoring chances.
Egoist is part every person not only in one sport, but ego does not make you better, dont let that ego consume you which blue locks does.
@Manga Enthusiast oh yes i forgot but he didnt much scored in the finals or semi finals. he did one score tho penalty area due to penalty shootout
If he's like this after only a few episodes then boy we're gonna have a new video every week or so 😂 Glad you are enjoying it.
The beginning is so perfect the way you bring up how i and so many others think of sports anime and how blue lock just shatters it is such a necessary thing to say
"i was wrong blue lock is phenomenal"
Me: well duh
Blue lock is amazing for many reasons, but the biggest reason is that you can tell a lot of thought was put into this "crazy" concept for team sports.
The satisfaction of him calling "FOOTBALL "-FOOTBALL
and not soccer is f*cking phenomenol 👌
This anime theme is on next lvl
Totally separate from the rest of sports anime

@@bachelorsensei9437
I didn’t watch tsubasa to begin with , i’ll never watch it , i’ll bever watch Bluelock, ao ashi was really in spot but i’ll not continue watching it , because i don’t really feel it ,
And about football aspects , ego , spirit? Wtf is that , every position in football does need certain requirements and that also depends on the philosophy of the club itself, bayern and barca and man city who are more into possession and attacking philosophies needs whole different tasks than those players who playes in a defensive and counter attacking philosophies as madrid and spurs ect
But ego ? Why the fuck players need that , desire to win its not ego , players can have that much ego and arrogance and will up ending warming the bench or playing in unknown team if they don’t play well . And messi who statically the best football player doesn’t have EGO , and he’s not overconfident, and he’s still the player who scored the most in finals , ego is B.S
@@bachelorsensei9437
Most qualities you mentioned are wrong ,
It just show that you have no real knowledge on football, pace it’s needed on wingers and side backs in modern football
Strength is needed in forward strikers and whole defenders
And football intelligence it’s what makes the player average or superior
From first episode, I know this is going to be a classic. Some animes just have it.
What exists are results.
at least you woke up, some guys are going to miss this their whole lives because "NOOOO YOU CANT BE LE EGO PLAYER"
They do be missing out fr

I gave blue lock a chance because i love football so much that i watch it daily and playing it from a young age as hobby , while i was reading it i was getting angrier and angrier , i just dislike football getting ruined that way , teamwork , collectivity, chemistry , tactics, strategies was all dropped to watch a screaming self obsessed arrogant fighting to get an assist instead of goal , Messi who is considered the best player football have ever witnessed and he’s exactly the very opposite of what Blue lock B.S . Football it’s the best teamwork sports and sport to ever exists , messi , yes people are after the hype and animation but the manga is providing toxicity instead of real football knowledge
@@everythingsfine1395 let me guess, dropped chapter 1
like i said, missing out fr
NOOOO YOU HAVE TO LE TEAMWORK(mc's skill literally requires teamwork), LE CHEMISTRY NO WHERE ARE THE TACTICS
dont even get what is so hard to understand about what ego is talking about, its just that japanese players lack the "im built different" mentality to the point they're too scared to 1v1 the keeper, so blue lock is built for them to discover that ego, confidence, drive to succeed
@@everythingsfine1395 how many chapters read? Because teamwork is one of the most important parts of blue lock.
Negatively it is arrogance, but positively it is Overwhelming confidence
same fr
i feel like the ppl who have the idea that egoism is arrogance are sore losers and are projecting
since when was egoism ever arrogant
if anything egoistic ppl tend to be smart and more compassionate
Glad you like it bro, it's one of my favorite anime this year 😄
I - as a general rule - hate sports anime, I've only had 1 other anime I've enjoyed that's sports related in all the time I've been a fan and that was Hajime no Ippo, that's primarily because while each character had their amazing actions and visuals, there was no over the top nature about it, it was about BOXING and that was what drew me in.
I didn't want to start watching this anime, but when I started i realized how AMAZING IT ACTUALY IS! This definetly goes on MY 10/10 animes.
AND IT ONLY GETS BETTER, amazing manga work and everything.
you have my respects for saying in alot of details bleu lock is that someone who has'nt watched it yet would now what bleu lock really is
I watched the first six episodes out so far and next thing I know I'm at the most recent chapter of the Manga and I'm still hungry for more.
Also, I feel that the main conceit of Blue Lock can be summed up with this Michael Jordan quote - "There's no I in team, but there is in win."

Seeing an actual good indian content creator like you as an indian is just a pleasure. Glad to see you know actual good entertainment content like anime. unlike these cringe majority of indian let's player which get millions of views literally just playing games with no qualities and selling point.
Yo he's Indian? Such quality content that I never would have guessed it until I saw your comment. Must've been me confusing the word harsh with the English harsh
if you guys like blue lock, i highly recomend picking up the manga. After a friend recomended it to me i sat down and read almost 200 chapters in one sitting. The blue lock manga is 200 chapters of pure high octane and hype matches with some amazing art!
10/10 highly recomend, just give it a few chapters ;)
"Blue Lock Is Fucking Phenomenal" bro I felt that with every fiber of my body lol exactly how I felt.
I've been holding off from watching this series, but man you got me so hyped to start.
and I actually started watching. I absolutely love the premise and the animation. Phenomenal indeed.
Honestly I was so happy bluelock got an anime 😭❣
Never been a fan of sport anime....However bluelock, locked me in straight away...Absoutley amazing and different
Oh man those frist two episode had me questioning if I wanted to keep watching, so far I'm glad I did. Feeling like it's going to be a wild ride.
THANK YOU for recommending this anime to me. Definitely one of my favorites now
After Haikyuu ended, I was desperately trying to find a new manga to get invested in.
In short term, end of 2021 and most of 2022 animes are chefs kiss.
I remember when I put my friend on blue lock almost 3 and a half years ago
you guys have no idea how the manga is better on showing the will to win it's crazy art

Dude you're so right, At first I thought its bad and like power of friendship sh*t but I was wrong now I'm recommending it to my friends
I used to play goalkeeper then later defender due to an arm injury but the start of blue lock reminded me of PE lessons at school where all the strikers were on one team and it never worked out for them because the none football players realised strategy was important and the idiots would just not work together. The ego reminded me of a few games were I would play midfield and get a chance to score too bad I was a fucking terrible shot
manga is unpredictable and i cant wait till the U-20 arc gets animated 🔥
this is the best editing ive seen on yt for years bro this is like the best yt vide ive seen for years
The first episode is really trippy and misleading but after some few episodes especially the new episode today, I can say it deserves the hype that it had.

In Blue Lock we learned that sometimes you have to be selfish to reclaim your own respected thrown
“Run With The Wind” so your saying I need to get into it!

I was also confused whether to watch it or not, but u made it clear, it's a must watch for me!
blue lock and dokkan ost in the same video?
The best video on RUclips!
(won't spoil what happened but what he did was incredible. and no feat any real human could pull off.)
and it seems they have 24 episodes planned in one go. instead of 12 and us having to wait around for a year till season 2 to get the other 12.
