@@nomorekings How do y'all feel about the attention that "Cobra Kai" has been getting? This video is a prophecy to that new series, amazing! That was a GREAT video by the way!

Thanks, No More Kings! I believe your song and the clip "Sweep the leg" have influenced recent Karate Kid's sequel, "Cobra Kai". The plot is basically the same. BTW, I love the clip and the sequel as well.
5:58 hilariously enough, this is close to what Johnny says in that Cobra Kai scene "I kicked your ass right over there" I love ho excited Ralph is I guess for him, it;s like visiting a childhood home years later lol
Seeing Ralph back at the South Seas apartments in Reseda, reliving the different scenes...that's so amazingly cool. I've sprinted up the 'Rocky Stairs' at the Philadelphia Art Museum (several times over the years), and if I ever get out to LA, I'm going to visit the South Seas and run across that field and then do a flying side kick into the fence.
Yep, I live in the area and drive by that apartment complex everyday to work. The field where the Cobra Kai boys chased Daniel and beat him up, is now all developed with small track homes.

I was born in the USSR. I watched The Karate Kid in 1987, in 1988 I went to my first, still semi-underground karate section (karate was banned in the USSR, only sambo was allowed)) under the cover of the military-patriotic club, then there was just a karate boom. I'm almost the same age as these guys, I watch this series and you can't imagine how I feel...) I'm looking forward to season 6! This song should be in Cobra Kai!!!
Its interesting you say that because Cobra Kai is rooted in the Korean Karate art known as Tang Soo Do, which roughly means "Way of the Chinese (Tang Dynasty) Hand", which was invented primarily by two Koreans: one who traveled to China to learn Martial arts, and the other, Won Kuk Lee, went overseas to Japan to go to college at Chou University which was right next door at the time to a Karate studio owned by Gichin Funokoshi, an Okinawan immigrant who is known as the founder of modern Karate. This is because at the time, Japan had occupied Korea and banned martial arts altogether there. Incidentally enough it is Gichin Funokoshi who came up with the term "Karate" which means "Empty Hand", though back in Okinawa, which ar the time sas not part of Japan at all, and had friendly trade agreements with China, who would in good gesture, send over diplomats, s hokars and martial arts experts to Okinawa to teach and train their elite residents who would then pass rha knowledge down to the citizens there. There were no known styles yet there so it was just called "Chinese Hand" or Tou De in Okinawan. Obviously around the 1920's and 1930's China and Japan werent in good relations, so Gichin Funokoshi knew "Chinese Hand" would be marketable in Japan so he changed it to Empty Hand. Plus, the whole reason Gichin was wven brought over to Japan, as well as some other masters like Chojun Miyagi, founder of Goju-Ryu Karate, as well as the founders of Shito-Ryu and Ishin-Ryu, because Japan's head Olympic committee president who was also the head Judo coach, was instruced to being over aeveral Okinawan masters to help formulate a style to be shown in the Olympics. Won Kuk Lee studied Karate under Gichin Funokoshi for 2 decades, and then when the war was over, moved back to Korea and formed Tang Soo Do. The Korean government also wanted to have a martial art in the Olympics to represent their country and asked Won to help design one based off his style. He refused saying he didnt want his art to be watered down for sport. They imprisoned him on accusations of Japanese spy. They created Tae Kwon Do as a result on the 50's. He was later released and moved to Virginia years later. Interestingly enough, it woukd take 100 years for Karate to become an official Olympic sport in 2020. Tang Soo Do would be studied by Chuck Norris when he was in the military, and he then went on to fame competing in tournament and was discovered by Bruce Lee who got him to into Hollywood. Around that time in Queens NY, a teenager was bullied and beaten up at the World's Fair event. He then decided to take karate in NYC at some school called Black Dragon but he he when he found it too violent and strict and didnt like the teacher. He then ran into a Japanese immigrant who would train him by himself and this man was a student of Chojun Miyagi back in Japan. As a token of honor, the man would create a character with the name Miyagi as tribute to Chojun Miyagi. This man was Robert Mark Kamen, the writer of Karate Kid. He also went to DC Comics to ask permission for the name Karate Kid as they had owned that name from a character in the comics. Chuck Norris also had opened his own Tang Soo Do studios and one of his top students, Pat Johnson, would go on ro be the fight choreographer for the Karate Kid and this music video years later. Years later, when Cobra Kai show was created, they would dive deeper into the lore and Terry Silver and John Kreese would be shown in flashbacks during the Korean war where it was shown they learned Tang Soo Do. Also, when Daniel went back to Okinawa in one season and met up with Chozen, it was shown in a scroll a symbol of a crane and that many people from their village werecin the fishing trade. This goes back to the real world roots of Okinawa as Gichin Funokoshi was a fishing businessman in Okinawa before he moved to Japan as was many others like him, as mentioned Okijawa had fishing business trade relations with China and that the roots of Tou De/Karate in Okinawa in terms of martial arts styles were two main styles: Northern Wudang mountain style of Xing Yi Quan, which was a hard hitting linear style created by a famous general adept with the spear, and Southern White Crane, a softer, circular style developed in the Fujian province of China's southern coastline by a woman who was the daughter of a former Shaolin monk, and who created the style after observing cranes that had entered her garden and would avoid her broom attacks as she'd try to shoo them away. In fact Chojun Miyagi created Goju Ryu name based off those as it means hard soft style. Then if you look back at the Jackie Chan /Jaden Smith Karate Kid movie (known as Kung Fu Dream in China), the style they were using was reminiscent of Southern White Crane.
They need to use all this footage of Pat Johnson from the behind the scenes and put it in the Sekai Taikai in Season 6. Especially the shot of where he and Martin Kove are speaking to each other. That should be put in.
They should have shown more footage of the tourament, or done a movie and sequel right then and there. Really ausome video though! I like that magic was made here. That's what it's all about.
I remember watching this video back in 2007 and never would’ve thought that 10 years later we would have Cobra Kai with 5 seasons into Cobra Kai in 2022 and we have seen the whole cast of the 3 movies share the screen together something I only thought of in my wildest dreams being a Karate Kid fan watching the 1st film in 1984 as aa 7 year old in the theater and Johnny being my favorite character.
