How amazing is this video. This is a blast from the past. I teared up watching this. I'm an Egyptian born Dammam, my father was an engineer working for an American company. He used to take us to Khobar on the weekends. Khobar was larger than life bright lights and fancy malls and stores. The Meridian hotel was a beauty, still exists. We used to go to Safeway (Tammimi markets) supermarket and KfC in the Same plaza. We also went to Al Shula mall 12:53 and then Toy Town. I also remember Souls Supermarkets 16:59 It was some of the happiest times of my life. We left Saudi Arabia for the United States in 1992 and we're still here. Thank you so much for uploading this., You've put a big smile on my face. ❤️

I hope you enjoyed your stay there, I think such experiences change a person’s perspective towards lots of things in life and you really grow as a result. This Tamimi store was our regular grocery store, the area has completely changed now. Down to tears thinking I may never get the chance to go back to this wonderful country, that I was lucky enough to call my home. Thank you for sharing this memory Geoff.

Great blast from the past. Brings back memories for me of Friday morning shopping trips to Tamimi (Sameway) Market with my family when the kids were still small in the early 2000s. That and going to the old Azzi Panda in Dhahran.

Thanks geoff for keeping this. After my promotion i moved to Monopoly Village in 1992 and stayed there till 95. I was with the company that built the KFIA airport. We may have worked together for the same company.

So many memories, souks on Pepsi cola road, pet shop, cafe and shopping, the only things you didnt get were the dhows just down from tamimi market and the canon, so long ago, the worlds changed.

This Tamimi store was our regular grocery store, the area has completely changed now. Down to tears thinking I may never get the chance to go back to this wonderful country, that I was lucky enough to call my home. Thank you for sharing this memory Geoff.

Great blast from the past. Brings back memories for me of Friday morning shopping trips to Tamimi (Sameway) Market with my family when the kids were still small in the early 2000s. That and going to the old Azzi Panda in Dhahran.
Thank you so much for this video, it means a lot for Saudi’s from Alkhobar and Dhahran, i was in high school in 1988.
I wish the family are in good health and visits Saudia again and do another recording with the kids who become older now in the same roads and streets.

Wow...sorry for your loss. I was last in Khobar in 1983, and I can hardly recognize the city in 1988. Khobar obviously grew tremendously in a very short time.

So many memories, souks on Pepsi cola road, pet shop, cafe and shopping, the only things you didnt get were the dhows just down from tamimi market and the canon, so long ago, the worlds changed.
