Update: Thank you sooooo much, Martina. Made the Ragu today. Was delicious and now my 5 yr old daughter loves me again following our argument over whether to watch football or a Disney movie. Was worried that the lack of garlic would compromise taste but it didn’t. I usually buy Dolmio but find find it too concentrated. I used a good passatta in Muzzi, which I think helped. Thank you once again!

This has become one of my go-to recipes; it's quick enough to throw together but always leaves an impression. I usually serve mine with gnocchi, since that was how my nonna used to make it when I was a kid and it always give me a rush of nostalgia. Thank you for sharing!
I'm Australian-born of Italian heritage and that's how I make mine, except I dice the onions but shred the carrot and celery (a throwback from when my children were little and I'd hide the vegetables in the bolognese!) Sometimes I don't have basil on hand but otherwise everything else is the same as yours. I agree it needs to gently simmer for a couple of hours.

reminds me of my sicilian grandmother’s “red sauce” 😭😭😭 not quite this but soooo good. it’s all just the simple but fresh ingredients. we also always had a big pot of red sauce on sundays through the winter. it’s also cool to see how it changes across region and for all of us italian americans :)

Loving this, I have a child and always looking for ways to make healthy tasty family meals! I used chopped onion, carrot, celery and bell pepper. I also used pancetta and minced beef. I added milk which I let evaporate then added Marsala wine and San Marzano crushed tomatoes and added rosemary because I didn’t have basil….and in total cook time was about 2 hours….that sauce could sing when it was done.

Looks so good! Almost like mine but I process the veggies so it's fine and I use pork/veal and white wine not red and I put heaps of basil. No sugar. Love it with tagliatelle.
I sometimes process the veg as well, but most times I’m too lazy to get the mixer out of storage and clean it afterwards 😂 and yes to basil!!!! I put whatever was left on my plant… which wasn’t much at all 😅

Made this bolognese and it tasted wonderful! Everything balanced out. I did add a bit more sugar to cut that acidity. I forgot the Basil, but luckily the marinara sauce had basil in it. 💛💛
I made your Bolognese last night! My partner inhaled it! It was delicious! I wasn’t sure what type of red wine to use so I used a chianti Classico. My veggies of diced onions, celery, and carrots was a ratio of 2:1:2. I used ground beef with a 20% fat. Anything I can improve on to make it like yours? Thank you for posting this. It was my first time making any type of pasta sauce. I can see why you got a 10/10!
That’s great! I’m sure it was delicious! Ratios are a very personal choice really, if you like it sweeter then use more carrots, if you like it saucier then add more tomato… can be absolutely adapted to your taste!
I made it a few days ago unfortunately I didn't have celery 😅 however I did the best I can following the recipe. My family went crazy for it my brother is a picky eater but he woke up the next morning heading for the fridge to have it for breakfast 😂 lol thank you 🙏

I never have add olive oil to my minced meat and break it before adding it into the pot. I have to wait making your version, because I still have chopped celery and carrots in my freezer from my previous cooking and I don't know how much it influenced the results. Do you have any experience with it? But I can't wait to use tortiglioni. They are my favourite shaped ready-to-buy pasta. Normally, I use (homemade) pappardelle for bolognese. Do you notice a difference in flavour between the pasta like tortiglioni that went through the bronze shaper(?)?
I sometimes freeze the soffritto (onion, celery and carrot) if I end up chopping too much, and it doesn’t change it that much - just needs to cook a bit less. As for bronze die pasta.. it’s sooo much better!
I still use your recipe today. . It’s always a hit! To make it a little heart healthier for my boyfriend, I use 93% ground turkey. Still excellent tho 😊

Well, that very much depends how much of a pasta eater you are 😂 My mum would say 80g per person, I’m more of a 120g per person kinda gal. My dad would probably go for 200g per person 😂😂😂

@@bbyle4h You can definitely make your own tomato sauce, but I wouldn’t use freshly grated tomatoes. You can quickly boil the tomatoes then use a vegetable mill to reduce them to a sauce, and let it cook for a bit, and then add that to your ragù. Longer process but homemade sauce is so nice!

Do you have any experience with it? But I can't wait to use tortiglioni. They are my favourite shaped ready-to-buy pasta. Normally, I use (homemade) pappardelle for bolognese.
Do you notice a difference in flavour between the pasta like tortiglioni that went through the bronze shaper(?)?
I sometimes freeze the soffritto (onion, celery and carrot) if I end up chopping too much, and it doesn’t change it that much - just needs to cook a bit less. As for bronze die pasta.. it’s sooo much better!
I still use your recipe today. . It’s always a hit! To make it a little heart healthier for my boyfriend, I use 93% ground turkey. Still excellent tho 😊

Well, that very much depends how much of a pasta eater you are 😂 My mum would say 80g per person, I’m more of a 120g per person kinda gal. My dad would probably go for 200g per person 😂😂😂

Oh, please don’t 😂 I’d skip the basil rather than add dried, it would completely change the taste! But of course that’s my preference :)

@@bbyle4h You can definitely make your own tomato sauce, but I wouldn’t use freshly grated tomatoes. You can quickly boil the tomatoes then use a vegetable mill to reduce them to a sauce, and let it cook for a bit, and then add that to your ragù. Longer process but homemade sauce is so nice!
