You can use a Philips head screwdriver as well as a ratchet if you want. Put it just in front of the 10mm bolt where you see the teeth of the adjuster.
So I've tried to adjust my driver's side headlight and I used a ratchet to turn the adjustment knob about 10-15 turns and did not see any improvement in lowering the height of the beam. How many times do I have to turn the adjustment knob to start seeing a change? Thanks in advance.
@THEBTS17 hello, Believe it or not your headlight adjustment screw might be worn out. This tends to happen overtime because as we drive over potholes or other roads that cause a lot of disturbances it rattles the entire car which causes the headlights to come out of alignment or if the car had been in an accident minor or major which will require adjustment. Rare times the adjustment screw completely fails but when it does you will most likely need a new housing. I know it sounds tedious but before buying new headlights I would remove the headlight itself and inspect what is going on. Hope this helps, mate.
@@TheMaafiaGarage 2017 LE. I bought it for my wife over a year ago as a lease turn in. The only thing I can think is it had front end damage that was repaired at one point but I dont know if it was in an accident or not. Do you know if there's a left to right adjustment on these? I had to point the driver side light down because people were flashing her and getting so pissed that one guy did a 180° and started following her. Now she says she can barely see at night so I need to get it fixed before I have to deal with some road raging moron.
@@cvdubya5774 oh my goodness that is freaking crazy! So unfortunately sometimes when the car has front end damage, whoever was the shop that fixed it probably didn't bolt the headlight properly back into place. Or one of the mounting tabs is probably broken causing the headlight to be off. Try to see if the headlight housing itself moves in and out if you push on it lightly.
For horizontal adjustments you need to remove headlight assembly and set necessary washers on the bolts in between headlight assembly and vehicle's frame.
I agree, my Rav4 2017 are aimed up. I constantly get people flashing their high beams at me. It is a well know problem with Toyota Rav4 with their lights aimed up
So far I no one has flashed me. And I did a test and had my mom drive up at night while I was in my car and it didn't blare in my eyes haha. So I think my rav is good. But yes if it's too high up and people are going to be flashing me I will definitely lower the light output 😁
Just a couple suggestions, the part where you started doing righty tighty then had to do lefty Lucy could’ve been cut out. And both my headlights are high so I don’t know what the height adjustment should be. A dimension in inches from the ground would be nice. Your video is still better than I can do at the moment so thanks.
Thank you for your constructive opinion, I'll take it and be sure to implement that in my later videos. Sorry about that. As for the inches from the ground, I can't get a precise measurement because I don't know how far anyone should be from a garage door or a wall for it to be properly adjusted. I would recommend parking back enough to get a good idea of how you should adjust it. I just wanted to give a basic and quick instruction on how to do it for those who do not know where to start. Thank you

Thanks I appreciate the time you took to do this simple adjustment...and share much appreciated
You are very welcome, it was my pleasure! I am glad to hear it helped you out ☺️
Thanks for your video. Decent camera work and good description for adjustment.
Great for up and down adjustment but what about left to right adjustment.
Cheers for the vid! I just adjusted one of mine to pass inspection. Thank you!
Awesome! You are welcome!
And I dig your cover photo. Rush hour is fire!🔥
Thanks for the video.. I just had brand new headlight assemblies put in.. and the dealership didn't bother to align them.
Great video ! Nice and simple. I am going to be able to do this myself now.
The lighting looks muuuuch better now, nice work!! Time to go blind some people haha
I did this so it won't blind people 😂

Thank fuck for this vid! Thought I was going blind
LMAO! No problem!

I’m surprise you’re in your video on how to do a left and right?
This was easier than I thought. Thanks for the helpful video!
You are very welcome! Glad I could help!
Any idea on how to adjust headlights on a 2011 toyota rav4? I can’t find any information or a video on it, but the headlights are definitely too low.
Now how do we go left and right? My driver side light is pointing into the oncoming lane very badly and I cant figure out how to adjust it in.
Oh no that is not good. What year is your car and do you know if it's been in any accidents?

Way to not answer the OPs question because you dont know how to adjust them left/right.
Thanks for posting.
Are the high beams adjustable?
You are welcome, I don't think the high beams are adjustable 🤔
No the high and low is the same bulb on this car. There is just a shutter that cuts off the hight.
Is this for the low and high lights? Thank you for your time!!!
Hello, just for the low beams!
Cool so how about adjusting them from left to right? Its kinda like...HALF the process of adjusting headlights that you left out there.
Oh wow I did not know it could be adjusted from left to right. So sorry! I didn't look deep into it, just saw how to raise and lower it😬
You can only adjust them vertically
For horizontal adjustments you need to remove headlight assembly and set necessary washers on the bolts in between headlight assembly and vehicle's frame.
@@stanislavfeifer5095 thanks !!!! My daughters car was hit now I know what happened the body shop did not check the work after fixing the front end
I drive a 2015 RAV4... you have to turn left to make light go higher.
2018 rav4 headlights is probably the worse headlights ever made in car history!! 😅
Agreed, I just ordered an LED conversion kit because screw these flipping halogen headlights
@@briandressel1344 you gonna see the big difference! Good luck!
Tnx for your video my friend 🎉
The right side was good u have to move the left light down

Very good
Time for some new bulbs.
Even easier use a phillips screwdriver
That’s not the aim that’s the bulb being installed incorrectly and not fully in
Oops my apologies on that. Was just trying to help out some people.

WHOA SO SORRY MAN, next time I'll make sure to make it shorter for you specifically! 😃
Make sure the bulb is locked in place and not flopping around that was the problem with mine when it was down like that.
