- The Bowser theme from Yoshi's Island, restored using the original synth sources, to create a CD Quality version!
This restore comes to us once again from shutdown, who has contributed allot of songs, and I really like the work he did on this one. I hope others will enjoy it!

Kondo had no business creating something this heavy
Koji Kondo’s teenage son: “You’re so lame dad, you only make music for children’s games and will never be as cool as [insert rockstar here].”
Koji furiously picks up his son's electric guitar, and comes up with this on the spot. His son can not believe the glorious music his own father is playing and tears down all the band posters on his wall. His boss, who had been invited over for dinner, overhears Koji playing and immediately calls various Nintendo higher ups. He begs them to revive the SNES CD just to have a high quality recording of Kondo shredding in game. After insisting it should happen despite being repeatedly told it would be a substantial revenue loss for the business, they compromise by adding an enhancement chip capable of handling a MIDI version. You heard me correctly, the Super FX is there just to process Koji rocking out so hard.
And you thought Taro Bando was the only dude at Nintendo who shredded this hard.

Thank God it was compressed on the snes. This restored version would've melted my 9 year old face off. It sucks Koji Kondo never made another metal song like this to my remembrance. He clearly has the knack for it.
Check out the Darknut theme for Twilight Princess. Not quite metal but goes extremely hard.

I still can't beat him. I do really good, like, REALLY good, then comes the dual-screen monitoring/motion-controls combo. Any ideas?

Hearing the Electric Guitar uncompressed is absolutely amazing. And those drums go way harder here than in the real game.
I think the compression adds a bit to the background, but other than that this is definitely outstanding.

Funny fact. This song used to scare the crap out of me as a kid. IT WAS SO INTENSE!!! My little heart couldn’t take it. XD Nowadays it’s one of my favorite songs now on the SNES.
Not to mention the boss itself being terrifying as hell on top of that.

Different game, but the Birdo boss fight in SMB 2 used to scare me as a kid. The music combined with the noises Birdo made terrified me!

Not gonna lie, this is one of those tracks where I feel like the in-game compression helps a lot, namely on the guitar parts. The bitcrushing compression makes the guitars sound so much heavier than you'd think the SNES can handle. However, those DRUMS, these super crisp drums in this restoration. That kick drum and that snare go so hard.

It's really weird to hear the samples used on the SNES used to simulate rock guitars. It really is an instrument onto itself.

This was too fire for the SNES Koji Kondo had to put it out, and it still is fire but weaker

Probably Kondo wanted the organ/hammond part to sound like Highway Star and other rock songs at the time

This boss fight theme is my favorite of any ive heard!! It sounds so GOOD both restored and from the game!! I wish more final boss fight themes were this exciting! Yoshi's Island has the perfect soundtrack!

This was shown on the DOOM Forums, and I was just wondering: has anyone used this MIDI in a map before?
Imagine if they made a total remake of Yoshi’s Island using the original artwork they had with the original tracks restored and edited to sound clearer and smoother.
Fun Fact: They actually based off the sprites off of scanned artwork they had to draw. They had to recreate it pixel by pixel apparently. At least we got a cool children’s storybook style for the game.
