Great performance from Garcia after the disappointment of losing a close first set. Also, very positive from Andreescu to see her back at tournaments contesting finals again. Congratulations, ladies!
Haven't heard Garcia speak before but her speech really wins my respect. Especially when asked what this win means to her, she didn't give the usual BS sports talks and instead talked about how every win is a inspiration for the next one especially during tough times because you don't know when the next one will be. It's both honest and inspiring. Life/competition is hard enough, we need to remember/celebrate every win!
The part where she thanked the audience was also very nice. She's a well-spoken girl. Gonna root for her at Wimmby, if only for that (although her tennis is nothing to scoff at either).
When you are 28 and you are still looking for that inspiration after winning a WTA250 against an opponent who is just testing the grass at the end all you have are just some words. When you don’t know when the next win is going to be it means you are relying on chance. The chance that maybe you will get lucky. This time Garcia got lucky . Give it a couple of years of Bianca playing more grass and I can’t tell you now that Garcia , on a future encounter with BiBi will stand absolutely no chance. Good at least that she is keeping it honest and inspiring with her mastery speech tough. I am sure that helps.
@@deanstockwell2396 ...as disappointed as I was that Bianca lost the final, in fairness to Bibi, Garcia did play some brilliant tennis. It's not like Bianca played badly. I don't think many players could've beaten Caroline in that final, with the form she had that day.
What a great match! So good to see Bianca back in the finals of a tournament, and congrats to Garcia for winning and her super strong play. You could see how close and how much of a fight this match was from the highlights. Thank you WTA for posting a nice long highlight pack with all the speeches as well!
Congratulations to Garcia. As for Bianca Andreescu, I am happy she became a finalist for the first time probably after her US Open 2019 crown. Hope she reaches her form of winning matches from 2-5 deficits. Best wishes. 🌷
Congrats to GARCIA - I met her at the WTA-250 tournament last summer in Cleveland, the new 'Tennis in the Land' US-Open Series tournament. Also, congrats to ANDREESCU for making a grass court final especially since she has been out of playing matches after her one big injury a year or so ago.
I liked when the commentator referred to Bianca as Bibi Andreescu. I got teary eyed when she mentioned the help and support of her team. We never walk alone. She played well. She could have had it.
Impresionante la remontada de Garcia. Le ha costado años volver a la senda del triunfo pero aquí lo ha logrado y por todo lo alto. Toutes nos félicitations, Caroline!!
The superstar was up 4 - 2 in the 2nd set and lost four straight games. The superstar was up 2 - 0 and serving to take a stranglehold on the match and couldn't get it done. Garcia showed the overrated Canadian how to fight 👍
@@chiefscheider Garcia has been around quite a while..Bianca has only played 10 matches on grass her whole career..she’s working her way back up the rankings..if she can stay healthy she’ll be back on top in no time

Winning a warmup tournament for a major grand slam is just about the only feat Garcia can root for. Bianca on the other hand is just warming up for grabbing the real titles. Considering that this is her third tournament on grass and after a 2 year hiatus vs Garcia who played grass her whole career I think she did pretty good. She is only 22 and just warming up, getting used to the surface and ready to take aim at the Wimbledon title.
You can praise one player without diminishing the other. I like Andrescu's game a lot and I think she is one of the few who can challenge Iga at this point, but I won't discard Garcia's chances. As they say, the matches have to be played, not won on paper or ranking.
@@juanmanuelportillo9293 My intention was not to diminish Garcia but just stating a fact based on stats over her over 10 years career. With every passing year the chance of winning a grand slam diminished considerably especially when you have never experience the taste of winning a big title. Bianca experienced that in her first year which gives her the edge. Also her age gives her a major advantage over any older player and especially those who are just happy winning WTA250 or 500 titles . I am talking about singles here not doubles where Garcia’s bulk of earnings is coming from.
@@scout7060 She won a total of 7 titles before this one with the most major ones on double. Winning a WTA 250 title although an achievement for the mediocre cannot compare to winning titles like the US Open and even WTA Masters 1000 like Indian Wells or Rogers cup which Bianca grabbed all in one year.
I also used to believe that Bianca's stratospheric rise and grabbing all those wins and championship experience in 2019 gives her an "edge". Now I think it's her achilles heel. As much as she says that she's more relaxed nowadays and she doesn't fee the pressure, her performance and attitude on the court after her mental retreat says otherwise. She has a shorter fuse, tries to hype herself too much and gets annoyed at trivial stuff. She's also overthinking and second guessing herself a lot more these days. Gone is her fearlessness and steely focus that she used to have. I definitely think her way too rapid ascent in superstardom coupled with her personality type is a big contributing factor on why she can't perform under critical moments presently. Whether she finds her confidence again still remains to be seen. Oh yeah, credit got to be given when it's due. Garcia definitely performed better in the pressure moments in this final with her big serves in the critical stages and is deserving of this championship whether it took her 10 years again to win something in the singles. I definitely echo what commenter "scout" above has said.
At Andreescu 4 and Garcia 3 in the second set, and Garcia serving at 15(Andreescu) - 40(Garcia), doesn't the ball go out? This is at frame 5:23. It is glaring; it wasn't a near-miss; and it wasn't called out. What am I missing? Aside from that, it was a great comeback win for Garcia. Sorry for Andreescu. I was rooting for her. But congrats to Garcia!
Garcia and Kvitova the same day unbelievable 👏 😳 I mean I know who they are but only historical doesn't win titles. Garcia is serving like Pliskova in good days almost impossible to break her.
Congratulation to Garcia. I'm more appealed to watch Andreescu though. Her body mechanics is so natural and athletics, hopefully she can play injury free going forward

Having humility and being gracious in defeat is surely lacking in her close inner circle. For the announcer to remind her if she wanted to thank her team is not a highlight she'll want to be proud of.
Bianca up4-2 in the second and up 2-0 30-40 in the 3rd. Identical lose to that against plaiskova. Need to work on her placement and less aggression. Everything is towards her opponent which is very predictable, and she played too close to the baseline
Yes that and also the 46 unforced errors didn't help either nevertheless it was still a great match. If Bianca doesn't take the foot of the gas she would have won this match. But still great practice for Wimbledon coming up.
As someone who watches Bianca's games very closely, it seems to me that 80 percent of her problems on the court are in her head. She's overthinking things nowadays, and she has a shorter fuse and gets over hyped and/or annoyed at trivial stuff. She has doubts and second guesses herself on a lot of her shots. She doesn't have the fearlessness and steely focus that she did in 2019 at the moment. Hopefully, the more matches she has she will start to regain most of her confidence again. Although Abdul Silla is building her up to be more of an endurance type player, I still think her bulky, powerful build in 2019 is needed to beat the likes of Iga and Osaka. Her fearhand is about at 85 percent of what it used to be. She needs to be hitting unreturnables from way behind the baseline again to keep up with the WTA power hitters of today.
