I have a Barbour that has a few small holes and tear near the pocket, does the wax have to be removed before applying Stormsure, what happen if I just apply it, then rewax the whole jacket after ? thanks
If you can remove the wax before applying the glue it will have a much better chance of sticking properly. As with all repairs, "Time spent in preparation is time well spent"
White spirit may remove the wax but it is oily and will leave a residue that takes a lng time to evaporate. There are may solvents which would b better to use. Rubbing Alcohol, acetone (nail varnish remover, petrol (gasoline in American English) all work well.
Saved myself from having to replace the old Barbour jacket which I have had for nearly 20 years. It is an old favourite.
