You killed all of your credibility by calling these clowns musicians.. Rappers are not musicians with the except few such as Pimp C and Dj Quik. In order to be a musician first off you need talent.. There has been no talent in rap since about 2007. They all say the exact same crap and the all sound the exact same. 2nd off in order to be a musician you have to play musical instruments. Pimp C played several instruments and produced most of UGK's songs, Dj Quik plays many instruments and has produced for many artists. Talking over a beat that a musician made doesn't make you a musician

The worst part of being a semi-known rapper that fell off is trying to find a normal job and then being harassed by coworkers and “fans” that used to or still listens to your music. You feel a mixture of pride, embarrassment, and then depression. I knew a couple artists like that as a recording engineer, they’d rather do solo jobs away from everyone because of the shame. That’s why they do Uber or DoorDash.

Tbh Lil Mosey did not fall off, he got hit with a false rape charge which took up a huge amount of time effort and money, he was also young when it happened and it so it affected him mentally too, when he was finally proven innocent (which took over a year, around 2-3 I think) he wasn’t in the best state mentally so he didn’t drop and when he did it didn’t hit the same as his old music because of his mental state, another factor was that he simply grew up and matured. Right now he’s still getting carried by hits like “Blueberry Faygo” and “Noticed” along with his current music being a couple singles that are actually pop songs to express his mental state and he is getting a bit of traction on TikTok for them because they’re good and because some people are asking for his old rap music and sound back.

Tpain as usual is spot on. The money they gave you is a contractual loan, you are given a big stack of cash to make a great project that sells well. The sell well part is apart of the contract cause they obviously want you to repay that loan and make em some money. Are they evil sometimes yes, but you signed the contract assuming you read it over you agreed to all the terms. You broke the contract so they're just waiting for you to be done circling the drain.

I think in the past it was much harder to get into the industry (no internet), but once you got a record deal companies were willing to see if you succeed for 2 or 3 albums. So even if you never blew up you still had 2 or 3 years of trying to, and being a full time artist.
Nowadays anyone can reach a large audience by themselves on sound cloud. So the barrier of entry is much smaller. You can blow up alone, and more quickly (just upload a youtube video).
The downside is that shit moves much faster and there are more artists out there, so you can become irrelevant in a year.
Its good and bad. People should always stash away their cash and not waste it all because its a popularity game. Unless youre also getting sponsorship deals and on ads, you arent getting a steady paycheck

Now you're not seeing a decent check unless you get hundreds of millions of streams, getting placements in movies/games or you're independent and you can honestly fill venues in different cities.

I'm gonna tell you why this happens. The magic word is PAYOLA. Also, most artists now days are disposable. Their music holds no long-term value. They'll make a bop or 2 with no meaning that real people can relate to so their relevance dies out typically in under a year. So when they get "dropped" by the label or get out of their contract, they have already "fell off" by that time and since their music isn't timeless and the label isn't using payola to market them anymore, they fizzle out quick when they become independent because they don't know how to market by themselves and they become broke. Also, the label usually holds onto their masters which in turn the labels get a big percentage off of artists royalties even after they leave the label because its in their contracts if they don't meet the labels standards. So they can technically still own a part of you even after you leave.

I know a lot of people like to make fun of some of these rappers, but here's the thing: At least those people had a moment in the sun and at least they tried to use their gifts and abilities to be someone great. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there like that. I would rather try and fail versus never trying. Most people are average because they never tried to become great. At least these guys tried.

In DaBaby’s defense, his falloff wasn’t due to poor sales or bad music. He got cancelled and lost all his upcoming performances, including headlining rolling loud
