Sam, just to clear something to your audiance: SD joysticks are not universal, so SD LCD joysticks and SD OLED joysticks are not compatibles. They need to be careful in this regard so they won't buy the wrong one.
I will say: you should be able to take the thumb stick itself from the rod of an OLED one and place in on the rod of an LCD one. It requires de-soldering/soldering one wire each. I did this with my LCD deck just to upgrade my sticks lol
I heard something about aftermarket joysticks being "cross-pattern" vs Circle pattern which the circle is preferred. Do you know if the magnet ones he is recommending are circle input pattern?
difference between sony, microsoft, and valve 3:00 is, that sony and microsoft build their console toys to break. you are SUPPOSED to buy several controlers, so they make profit on you. valve on the other hand doesnt need these scumbag tactics.they can afford to just want you to enjoy your device because they already made big buck in the past/ resume to generate a wealthy income through steam.
Sam , I just bought a steam deck OLED thanks to your breakdowns and reviews that I happened to stumble upon. Excited to see what the hype is all about!
Great vid Sam. That heat sink on the back plate makes it well worth getting one. Thanks on explaining the joysticks drift as well. Nice to know what causes it and that you can make it better with the magnet joysticks where it helps fix the issue.
Honestly, Sam, I'm probably going to try to get a few of these. I just ordered my steam deck and am looking at any videos I can with tips or accessories, etc. So, thank you for making this video!
Thanks for the tips Sam , just finally saved up enough to buy a steamdeck OLED yesterday and it'll be here Monday. Even if I don't get lucky on the giveaway, I'm probably going to do these mods as soon as I can anyway, especially the sticks. Big stick deadzones drive me crazy.

Hey Sam, the backplate looks great with an external fan, the intake and heat spreader should really benefit from more airflow, HandheldDIY also has some tighter Hall Effect joysticks that look really interesting to try for shooters
Sam, awesome video brother! My left joystick just developed drift out of nowhere and so I could so use a pair of those Hall effect ones right about now! 🤣
Hey Sam, I’m a newer subscriber and have been enjoying your Steam Deck content. Your videos did helped me decide to get one. Looking forward to watch more videos from you.
ohhh i actually have a lot of thoughts on that, mostly i think its dope but i personally wouldn't want it also Good news brother :) email me: sam.alexander.reviews@gmail.com
