    WHAT IS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO
    A common symptoms and complaint of astigmatism is blurry night vision. This symptom can be from other conditions as well, but astigmatism is one of the top causes. It all can depend on the size of the pupil The large and more dilated the pupil is, the more peripheral light rays can be unfocused due to astigmatism.

    I had a question, I do have a astigmatism it’s at 100, I wanted to know if they have color contacts for It online ? my Eye Dr told me I could do no prescription color lenses and wear my glasses , would that help the astigmatism change in number to go down ? As well since I only where my glasses at night when it’s day time and I take my glasses of would that be okay to have the lenses on .I can see good during the day it’s just at night I need them.

    Hi Dr. Guymon, Great video. I have a quick astigmatism related question - I had LASIK years back and my distance vision is still pretty good, but I do wear glasses for computer work (+1.0R/+1.25L) and close up reading (+2.25) (books/iphone). I have astigmatism (-0.75/90) in my left eye, so should I be getting VR Lens inserts the mirror my computer work/astigmatism prescription, or lenses that just account for the astigmatism? Keep up the fantastic work and thanks.

      Optician here. Your computer prescription is based off the distance between you and your computer, which is typically about arm's length. If you are going to be sitting in front of a computer or monitor about arm's length distance from you then you will likely want the computer rx in them as well as the astigmatism correction

    So I've already been diagnosed with Astigmatism and I noticed a weird thing about it so I am wondering if I have something else. And your video made it even clearer to me that what I'm noticing exists.
    Using that dial test the horizontal lines are the dark ones that are very clear and the horizontal ones are blurry. But at say book distance away, on my phone, the vertical lines are the ones that are dark and sharp but the horizontal lines are the ones that are blurry. Which has me wondering why am I seeing this as it makes no sense if it's the shape of my eye I would expect the bluer to be the same direction no matter the distance. What might cause that?
    Also am wondering about my glasses prescription as perhaps it's the thing that is making my eyes so tired during the day as I'm much closer and looking at a computer all day. But the prescription was set for the distance based upon a chart. That and pretty much all of my vision issue is in the cylinder as the sphere is either around .25+/- or plano. What might be causing this as perhaps I'm misdiagnosed? I've asked my eye dr about it but he says he doesn't know why.
    Me, engineering mind, has me really puzzled as to what is going on here as it makes no sense. It makes me wonder if my vision issue is somewhere else in the system. What might I talk with my eye Dr to help make sense of this?

    • @mleii1169
      @mleii1169 Год назад

      If it helps, my current prescription is at around OD +.5 sph -3.25 cyl 95 axis and OS +.25 sph -3 cyl 77 axis.
      I'll also add that night time I don't see all these lines mentioned or shown. It's mostly just text that's an issue for me, even looking out the window without glasses or at the TV (again except for text) it all appears most clear to me.

    • @mleii1169
      @mleii1169 Год назад

      Curious if you've had any patients with a similar issue and how you handled their prescription. I'm noticing the zone for where it seems to switch is right around where I normally have my monitor distance. Perhaps me using computers for the last 40 or so years has caused some other thing to occur/change with my eyes or some part of my visual processing.

    What are your recommendations for someone who still has issues seeing at night even with lenses? I have seen my eye doctor, but they just say it's a low grade astigmatism (1.00 vs 6.00). Is it common for lights to still look like stars at night even with glasses? Glasses make it a bit better but I sort of expected the scattering to go away completely when wearing glasses at night, given how low my prescription is. I am just curious because so far my doctor hasn't suggested specialized testing but I am still having vision issues at night due to light scattering.

    • @bendietrees

      Try to upgrade the material your lens is made out of. As an optician I put most of my customers in trivex if i can. It's clearer. You may be in basic polycarbonate lenses which aren't as crisp due to how they are created. You want to make sure you have a very good premium anti glare coating as well. They all have different strengths. Crizal Sapphire HR is one of my favourites as it is one of the best with reflections.

    I see everything doubled. I first noticed it only on very fine text on the screen but it's gotten progressively worse. Glasses fix it. I see things nice and sharp at a distance (only close stuff is actually blurred which is just age-related normal stuff) but yea everything is slightly doubled-up whether close or far.

    I was told I had astigmatism when I was younger but I never thought I had bad vision. I thought I saw crystal clear until I started to notice that when I read words/number or try to focus on something, I see them slightly blurry. It’s like the middle of the words are clear but the outside of the words are blurry. And I noticed that this happens when I see from a distance, up close I see just fine. I also remembered when I took driving tests at night, and I looked in the mirrors, the lights from the cars were bright and blurry with strong glares, it was hard to tell if the car was close to me or not. I was like “wait so my vision wasn’t crystal clear vision all along??” I thought my vision was the normal but it is not Lmao
