One thing that I have found with myself... being completely honest and open, is that it takes a lot of energy and time to educate about dry eyes. If a doc is tired, or behind on schedule, it can be really tempting to brush over things. That is something that I have to recommit myself with every day... to try and give every patient my all.

I've had dry eyes for the last 6/7 years...The best remedy I've used it Organic Castor oil...Just using a tiny drop on the fingertip and swiping it across your eyeline like a eye pencil every night for two weeks in the beginning...Your eyes will become alittle blurry, red n gritty for the first two weeks...In the morning you may wake up with crusty eyes, this is all very normal as the Castor oil cleanses your eyes...After two weeks you use it once a week, over time maybe once a month...Your eyes will be clear n sharp, no more weeping eyes or feeling of grit...Castor oil will also safeguard your eyes against Cataracts and Glaucoma...I carry onto to use it every couple of months to maintain the moisture and clear vision...

For the last few years(especially around 2020) my eyes have been getting dry and irritated. my eyes were never perfect I never had trouble seeing at night or the double vision you talked about. But I can even feel the dryness and irritation but when my eyes are properly lubricated I have vision like an eagle with amazing detail. I would myself contribute most of my dry eyes issue from lack of exercise/activity, my diet not being the best the last few years, and the irritants of my current home, aka environment. Even when I went to an eye doctor the head lady there couldn't have cared less about what I was saying to her about my dry and irritated eyes that this is a new problem. All she cared about was getting me a pair of new glasses $$$ for which I only ever needed them for the classroom sometimes. She was even nasty to say she would tell authorities or so that I needed glasses while driving, basically threatening me which after I got done with what I needed there I will never return. But from this video I feel this is exactly what I have, true dry eyes because of diet, lack of exercise, and environment and these solutions and reasons make perfect sense.

So many times I'll tell patients that their meibomian glands are dropping out and going away and they probably have a certain level of evaporative dry eye disease and they respond by saying "but my eyes aren't dry". At the same time they are blinking about once every 2-3 seconds so their automatic blinks are accommodating for their evaporative dry eyes and they don't even know it. The next discussion is exactly what you talked about when you brought up "Tear Break Up Time" or TBUT. Good info!!!

But, I am on Medi-Cal, which I am greatful for, that takes a great deal of self-advocacy and perserverance.
The referral to an optomologist came from a doc who thinks it’s a cataract. This may be a challenge to overcome. The eye not tearing up as well as the other, seems to be the underlying problem.

Since I was a child I had a 1/4” grey spot on the white of my left eye which my eye doctor told me was a birth mark. When I was 60 I started to close my eyes in the shower and let the water spray on my eyelids, (eyes closed), turning my head side to side, 20x to improve eye circulation. Within two weeks the mark was completely gone. When I told my present doctor what I did he said it was impossible.
I also asked him what the effects were of preservatives on living cells, or if cataracts were a kind of callus the eye makes from dry eyelids rubbing on the surface membrane of the eye and he didn’t know.

    1. Pain in my right eye only when I wear specs. Without specs its fine
    2. Right eye feels like a stone in my eyesocket
    3. Pain in eyebrows, below eye, nerve and forehead at right side, when I have the specs.
    4. Vision gets blurred after continuous working on the laptop. That's why I follow 202020.
    5. Little overlapping characters not much but worsen with continuous work.
    6. For dryness I have eyedrops 4 times a day which only delays the pain for a while.
    7. I feel sleepy and heavy eyes on my mac all the time and I have to sleep to recover, which I cannot afford
    8. Sometimes I cannot see the fonts clearly the same font and sometimes I can. ( Dont remember when) I think after continuously working and not having eyedrops in the last 2 hours
What can be the reason and solution for this.

Hi, I have similar symptoms, I have met 4 doctors and they have given different eyesight numbers, I got four different spectacles still blurriness is still present. However, I have the following problems--
      1) I feel little blurry in the mornings from 8:00AM to 10:00AM
      2) After breakfast(after 10:00AM), my vision gets more blurry
      3) It continues until evening 6pm
      4) However I feel active from 6pm until dinner. After dinner, I get blurry once again.
      4) Blurriness in the sense, that if I close one eye I can clearly see the vision(closing of any eye). This blurriness is seen both with specs on and without specs.
      5) I feel like there is some substance inside my eyes, I want to get rid of that substance. However doctors say that my eye is perfectly fine.
      6) I always want to close one eye (any eye) and focus with another eye.
      7) Due to this there is headache too, I always want to rub my temple head area due to this headache and always feel sleepy after 8pm. I am not able to hold my sleepiness after 10pm.
      8) Due to this I have become completely lazy. Concentration worsened too.
      9) Especially I feel this in my left eye.
Finally, I feel like torture and none of the doctors are able to treat my problem from the past two years and now I feel my symptoms have worsened by a bit, If you can help me I would be thankful to you.

So beware of any drug like restasis. People have some ideas here that I’ll try, like the organic castor oil. Good luck to you. 🫶🏻😳🤫😝🤨🫶🏻

    1. Should warm compresses be done daily forever or for a period of months at a time
    2. If you get an in office treatment done like IPL or Lipiflow should you still continue doing warm compresses at home?

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy 2 года назад +4

Hi! Excellent Questions. 1) this really depends on the person, and you will want to coordinate this with your eye doctor. Usually it will be a common treatment done in the daily routine of dry eye treatments. 2) I usually recommend to do warm compresses after lipiflow and IPL. Almost as a maintenance technique to keep the oil glands working well.

    • @DrEyeGuy

      You are correct.
Dry eyes is usually a multifactorial condition with many possible causes depending on the person. I have a playlist of dry eye videos that I am striving to add to to help out as many people as possible. But what it comes down to, is that each person should have a dry eye exam to determine the root cause and develop the proper treatment. I would be unable to do that in a video, even though I try my best to talk about different causes, symptoms, and treatments to give people a better understanding. I try my best to treat the core issue with my patients that I see.

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy 2 года назад +1

Good questions! Omega-3 dosages are heavily debated. I usually recommend at least 1000mg, close to 2000mg if you can, of the triglyceride form of Omega 3, with a 3:1 ratio EPA to DHA (again, this is debated). Technology is the same for the PF bottles. I haven't heard of any reports of fungus recently in the PF bottles.

I have been using PF formulation for my glaucoma and dry eye for 10+ years. Instruction to not touch tip of dropper to lashes or eyes must be adhered to strictly. I have never had a fungus or infection.
