- The central focus of today’s Sunday school lesson is about “New Beginnings.
God is making good his promises and expanding the borders of the promised land for the remnant of the children of Israel in captivity that would return to reoccupy the promised land. Please note Sunday school Scholars of the Holy Bible that the land mass for the 31,583 from the tribe of Judah and Benjamin that had been the southern kingdom called Judah, and the land mass for the 10,777 other Israelites possibly from the northern kingdom called Israel… was sufficient for the total 42,360 remnant of Jewish souls coming out of Babylonian captivity with their servants, livestock, and gentile sojourner immigrants, and their servants and livestock on their way to the promised land. (See Ezra chapter 2, verse 64, and Nehemiah chapter 7, verse 66). So that raises a question Sunday school Scholars of the Holy Bible!
“Why is God expanding the borders of the promised land for a remnant of the children of Israel with less then 43, 000 Israeli souls?”
The Answer:
God made a promise to Abraham to give him the entire land of Canaan, not just a portion fit for the small population of returning children of Israel. God established a covenant with himself to bless Abraham and his offspring, and make them a nation of people that would be His Holy Nation, a peculiar people, a Royal Priesthood to the world.
Genesis 15: 17 (KJV)
And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
Genesis 15: 18 (KJV)
In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Genesis 15: 19 (KJV)
The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
Genesis 15: 20 (KJV)
And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
Genesis 15: 21 (KJV)
And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
So the remnant that were in Babylonian captivity being prepared by Ezekiel… were going to increase exponentially and need more land and resources for their increased blessings, when they return to the promised land, as a prepared people for a prepared place.
What we need to focus on in our lesson study today is that God is giving the children of Israel a New Beginning, keeping His Word, and expanding their borders to accommodate their increase in blessings as the seed of Abraham, in the promised land, the Kingdom of God, because they are the children of faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob...
