***I'm writing this as the video is uploading because I'm inevitably going to get a lot of comments about it. I know the audio is a little laggy during the Japanese Beauty and the Beach segment--it's unfortunate but I just couldn't get a good enough copy working in time. I also think I say "Beauty and the Beast" once. Whoops!
*I give a warning for inappropriate content because my original card game show brought be a lot of viewers from the Junior division, from ages 10 and under. I'm personally not offended by anything in these videos (I'm pretty anti-censorship myself), I could do without dozens of angry parents thinking I'm a bad example.
*Yes, I know the difference between a Dragonair and a Dratini. The episode is about a Dratini, the clip happened to show the Dragonair from the end of the episode.
* I say that laser guns and rocket launchers are "kid friendly" because they are over-the-top weaponry that is often used to create non-lethal explosions. Physically holding a gun to someone's head is a much scarier image that invokes much more deadly imagery. I am NOT saying that rocket launchers are kid-friendly in real life.
*The Meowth/Hitler commentary is more of a joke than an actual suggestion that they made him Hitler.
*Not all of these episodes are still banned today. This is just a comprehensive list of all episodes banned for any period of time.
I do something a little different today and talk about the banned Anime episodes of Pokemon. It's an exciting bit of Pokemon history that a lot of you might not have ever heard before! I hope you enjoy it, and stay tuned for more fun Fact of the Days each week!

Guns aimed at shot several times is not inappropriate because Pikachu thunderbolts team rocket in almost every single episode, there is no difference.

I've watched all the banned episodes, except the Whiscash episode and Team Rocket vs Team Plasma episode thing(haven't reached that far yet with my 'pokemon marathon').
I did watch Beauty and the Beach, but it didn't have that James Boobs part...pretty obviously, I guess.
I also did watch the Porygon episode, but I didn't notice the blinking lights at all while watching it - not even when Pikachu shot Thunderbolt at the missiles!
Why do these have to be banned completely? Why not just edit the bad parts out?
Change the color of all the black Jynx.
Remove the breast scene or replace it with some other joke.
Replace the guns with Pokémon, or something like Team Rocket's comedic machines that never work. #WereBlastingOffAgain
And slow down all the seizure clips, just like how the first episode looks when Pikachu thunderbolts Ash's mom.

They did show guns before in the show before the Dratini Episode. Remember the Squirtle Squad Episode? After Team Rocket steals from a store, Ash goes in to get a Super Potion for Pikachu, and they point riffles at him until Officer Jenny shows up. Even James had a gun while Jesse wielded a Bazooka.

Jonas h Maybe because "Pocket Monsters" are viewed as animals and hunting animals with rifles is fine but pointing a gun at another human being is wrong and you dont want to influence kids to do that to other kids. You need a rifle to hunt and a license for even that so its unlikely a kids going to manage that. Just like how they are very unlikely to obtain a Rocket Launcher.

Something he missed about the Dratini episode: this banning of this one actually caused minor plot holes in the English dub. Conveniently every other banned episode on this list was pure filler so could be skipped with no issues, but remember Ash's 30 Tauros? They're kind of a thing that gets brought up every now and then, and he used one in one of the Pokemon leagues.
Turns out he caught them in that episode. So in the English dub, the 30 Tauros appeared at Oak's lab with no explanation.
The Beach episode left a minor plothole in the episode following it with the two sisters.

What is the problem in using a gun that looks like a gun?
I had a toy gun as a kid, same goes for Japanese kids. For us outside of the states, guns are as real as rocket launchers. Sure they botg they exists, but one of them are allowed while the other is not.
Meowth's costume wasn't supposed to be taken as Hitler lol it's unfortunate how the U.S. And Japanese cultures clash and there is miscommunication that at times is interpreted as offensive.

Whole Ash wanted to catch a Pokemon in the safari zone, a wild herd of Tauros used to appear in front of him, so when he threw a Pokeball, it actually caught a Tauros, at the same time Team Rocket were using Mewtwo to catch the same Tauros, but they were out of luck, instead Ash caught every single Tauros in that Safari Zone. That's how he got 30 Tauros.
A youtuber, Enter The Unown, tried to do a challenge in pokemon where he used the same team Ash used in the anime, he explained to the viewers about the 30 Tauros and says about the episode Ash caught them in, whilst featuring the clip of Ash catching them (They were in japanese but he added english subs), after that he explained that they were in Japanese because of how the episode was banned in America due to the gun scene (He even featured it).

There are many theories about this actually and yes I've heard of the coma one, but let's be honest here. He can't grow up b/c Pokemon is a cash cow for kids... Sadly if ash grew up I think it would throw some balance off or something... It would be really weird too - like imagine him growing up and having all those poke girls as his companions... It wouldn't really work unless those girls were grown up as well and since Pokemon journeys begin around the age of 10 or so.... well you see my point :/
Ever since the Pokemon episode that caused epileptic seizures, there is a seizure warning to stay away from the TV on almost ALL anime now in Japan at the beginning of the shows.
Or just stay away from TV altogether if they have epilepsy, if they have it purposefully watch TV they are knowingly putting themselves in harms way and at risk of a fit as you can't blame the TV in this scenario at all in any way shape or form. I don't understand why these are banned... this tv show is supposed to be for 11+ year olds not 6 year olds. I've seen the 'Regular Show' have guns in an episode, come on people don't be so strict about this. If some parents think that this is inappropriate for child then watch something else for fuck sake! And if this is PG (Parental Guidance) then Im really pissed off because... well... LISTEN PARENTS to the rating... I know a 10 year old who convinced their parents to get them GTA 5 (R Rated - 18+ only) because he said to his parents it was Golf Tour Australia 5, Parents: "Rated R 18+?" fuck that, its golf let my kid play it. Well, these episodes were aired in the late 90's, almost 20 years ago. Times have changed - nowadays stuff like Regular Show has guns and innuendo, whereas that wouldn't ever have been allowed in the 90's, at least not for children's shows. But I guess the reason that they don't dub and air them now is because the animation is somewhat dated, and these episodes are from the first season, so it might not make sense to a kid who watches the current season.

This isn't the first episode to feature guns. In 'here comes the squrtle squad', Team rocket holds up a shop at gunpoint With Jessy having a R.P.G shooting pellets. James however had a smg. When ash arrives at the shop About 5 ppl had sniper rifles, guns, machine guns, ect. Also later in the episode team rocket is bombing people.

The funny part about the whole Seizure incident was that most of the seizures happened not because of the episode itself, but from a news report made later on which showed the seizure clip in a way that caused seizures easier (and likely faster) than the original episode.
I feel so sorry for Porygon. My favourite normal type, and it's been quite literally banned from the TV show, all because of Pikachu and a bunch of missiles.
Like I've said before why let anyone with epilepsy watch 5v? They're knowingly put themselves in danger. If in this case was children then the parents are to blame

Because the family go to Japan and Bart is watching TV, it's not Pokémon on the screen, but he says "Isn't this that show that gave everybody seizures?" According to Bulbapedia, The Legend Of Dratini also has an English dub. It also says it wasn't 4Kids that banned the episode, but WB (the network that aired the show at the time). So all three original banned episodes have English versions just sitting in a damned vault somewhere. Release them, Pokémon!

WAIT A MINUTE... I've had the VCR tapes for a while, and I've had the Tentacruel episode, the Tower of Terror episode, and the Holiday Hi-jinks episode. Those tapes were bought in the 90's.

Dominick Spencer Well, the Tentacruel and Tower of Terror episodes aren't banned now, and the 90's was pre-9/11 (Obviously). Jynx wasn't racist in the 90's - only in the early 2000's, she started getting hate for "resembling Blackface"
Back then, Pokemon episodes were bad, but it's 2014 now. It got better now...I think. They did improve a lot with the animation, the ideas, and the games. Don't you guys agree?

Coming back to this unlocked a memory of me, my brother, and my sister watching this on RUclips XL on our Wii. I remember my sister asking if I was alright after the Electric Soldier Porygon part and I was. While I don't suffer from epilepsy, the flashing colors do irritate my eyes. I can see why it was banned from airing outright in Japan and that the English dub didn't fully happen.
Again for your information it wasn't the pokemon episode that caused the fit's or epilepsy attack, it was the news that reported the incident that caused it as it was later in the day after the viewing of pokemon and you can see this for yourself, the other is that the news show repeatedly showed it over and over again. You have even said so yourself no attack happened

Rocket launchers are more over-the-top and indirect than something gritty like a revolver or machine gun. It's also been used constantly in cartoon media as a substitute.
I can't tell you how many times Team Rocket has actually used a rocket launcher in the anime.
