I started these with my craft club kids yesterday. We will donate them to the animal shelter here in Lawrence, KS, when they are finished. A quick note: I used a utility knife to separate the sections of the large mat, and I removed the little scalloped edges. I thought that either the kids or the dogs would tear them apart. Great project!
Thank you for sharing this tutorial! Brilliant idea, plus they look way better than any of the ones I have seen for sale. Keep up the good work, and may I say a big THANK YOU on behalf of all the animals you care for ❤❤❤
Can you tell me how you wash these? Dishwasher then air dry? Hose off and let dry? I’m not picky but wouldn’t want the plastic mat in my washer or dryer.
Snuffle mats are supposed to hide the treats underneath the fabric. I do not know if tulle is dangerous for the animals but it would not do a very good job at hiding the treats.
@@bishopanimalshelter8838 thank you. But I am italian and I don't understand really good English. Can you tell me yes try or not it is dangerous? Thank you so much ❣️
That kind of snack you are using and the number you are putting in the mat is way too much for any dog. Better off using the kibble you feed the dog and then back off on the meal amount to off set.
I love that this shelter has a program like this! amazing :)

We hand wash them and rinse them in a bathtub and hang to dry.
@@bishopanimalshelter8838 Thank you!!!
Do you have a link where I could get the mat from?
But how do you take it off the mat though
Hello ❤️I really like it. Is it good also in the summer? Thank you
Yes they can be used year round.
@@bishopanimalshelter8838 thank you so much
How will you wah it?
Thank u for this tutorial… wks for me cuz I need to mk multiple mats cuz I don’t want my dogs fighting over them
Where do you buy the mat?
The video shows a 3 ft x 3 ft purchased from Home Depot (TrafficMaster Rubber anti-fatigue comfort mat) - it's about $31
what is the size of both fabrics
Which material you are using in cloths?
These are cut up fleece blankets.
I got this same mat off Amazon. The smell is awful! Is this harmful to my dog? and Is the one you have smell?
Can these be washed somehow as I am sure they will be kinda stinky after time?
We hand wash and hang dry.
Where do you get the rubber matting from please x
We purchased them at the local Home Depot. They are fatigue mats that we cut into smaller squares. One mat made 9 snuffle mats.
what is the size of both fabrics?
We cut 2 lengths, about 12 inches and 18 inches, they do not have to be exact.
@@bishopanimalshelter8838 thank you 🌷😊
Would you use shorter lengths for a kitten or cat?
they dont reply soooo......
Hello, can we add tulle too? Or it is dangerous? Thank you.

Hi there, where was this mat purchased please and thank you 💙🐾
home depot :)
This mat was purchased at The Home Depot. Check for availability in your area.
My piggies aren’t very smart and eat everything. Will it make guinea pigs sick since it’s not natural fibers?
These are meant to be used for dogs.
@@bishopanimalshelter8838 yea I know, I just have seen people use it for guinea pigs.
Is it dangerous for rabbits if they eat a piece of fabric?
If your rabbit has eaten a piece of material you should contact your veterinarian's office as soon as possible.
@@bishopanimalshelter8838 ok thank but it is a play also for rabbits?
@@cleoblog194 This was designed for our dogs at the shelter.
Did you tie those in double knot?
Yes, they are double knotted.
How do you wash these?
I toss the ones I made in the washing machine then let it air dry.
@@namastedogtraining5930 Is this pvc washable in machine though

Don’t use these type of mats, your dog will become like a hoover picking up everything from the floor
