Love that idea! For that, I would sew little suction cups to the outer edges so it secures to the floor and doesn't move around easily when the dogs play :)
Honestly, I've got a snuffle mat, but most days, I just grab a blanket, scatter kibble all over it, fold it up, scatter more, and then fold it up again. Then it's game time for my pup as she digs through the folds to uncover her treasures. It's a blast and takes her around 20-30minutes. :)
I had a stroke 5+ years ago and have left sided weakness, this will be challenging yet therapeutic. I will make onefor my 3 yo boy & hopefully just keep on making to give as gifts & donate to the SPCA where I volunteer 💛👍
I just now ordered that exact same sink mat from Amazon for $10 (comes with two of them) and tomorrow I'll go to my local fabric store and pick up two colors of fleece. I don't know how many yards, but I can't imagine it would take more than a total of two years of fabric. We have three Chihuahuas, and one of them is a little white five pound ten month old female who we just can't seem to keep entertained enough. This should be a great little game for her.
We're going to make them at the shelter I volunteer at. Thank you, now I know how! I love how your furbaby was patiently waiting on the sofa behind you 😂
What a great money-saving idea! I made my own version after watching your video yesterday. The plastic sink mat was a genius idea although the one I used had sizeable holes so instead of fleece I used my son’s old (but clean!) multicoloured t-shirt scraps instead. My little chichi LOVES it. Thank you.
Thank you so much!! I used a bath mat and some old shirts and it worked wonderfully. My pit loves it and she usually isn’t interested in toys. I’m super happy 😃
I considered using some tshirt material I had cut and balled up like yarn a while back. I think I'm going to have to make a 2nd one, to be fair, and not make the girls share. Lol. I think the felt may be poofier, but I think the t-shirt material will work fine as well. I also may add a couple suction cups to the bottom so they don't just pick it up and walk off with it!
Thank you, I enjoyed your explanation to this DIY snuffle mat. It helped to see the pattern on the back. I also just loved that you went straight to the craft. I'm going to make a snuffle mat for my kitten. :)
Cute! I am making one! my little cavalier is getting bored while I am on the computer working from home, she’s started licking walls and stealing socks. 😂 love this idea
I completely understand! My dogs are not happy that I am home but not dropping everything anytime they want me to... this is going to be great for them. I just happened to have one of those plastic things from dollar tree laying around!
My Dollar Tree didn't have a sink mat, so I ordered one from Amazon for $6.00. I have some old leftover fleece from when I made PJs for my grandsons, who are now in college. I think my little boy would really love a snuffle mat from Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons fabric! 😂
I was just buying food for my dog and cats. I wanted to gift them a new toy and these snuffle mats were so expensive. Thank you so much for this video, I have dozens of cardboards laying around the house and so much unused fabric. My DIY heart is pumping up again :DDD
Amazing 🎉 Thanks so much! We have a doggie whose temperament is required some entertaining. Among all other chew and tag toys these mat will be wonderful addition to her collection and it's easy to make. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 P.S. Just remembered, that i have some old place mats made of material that will work perfectly for the base. 👌
(12x12)x2=288 one inch strips. eight inches long. So depending on how wide the fabric is (most fleece is 60 inches wide) a proximate 58 1 inch strips. If strips are 8 inches long you would need so about 40 inches of fabric that is 60 inches wide, total. So depending on how many colors. You decide. This is if you use a mat that is 12x12. I would always get more fabric than needed.
I think I’ve got some leftover chicken wire from puppy proofing my porch and some old fabric, I’m going to make one of these first thing in the morning
Hello and thank you for video. Is there another place with I can purchase the sink mats with holes? I have looked at the dollar stores here in Canada nd they dont sell them. Thank you
This is fantastic! I love your channel and was wondering if you have any suggestions for food toppers to make kibble a little better and a little more fun at meal time? My dog is around 3 months old and she likes her kibble but not in love with it. I've been looking into salmon oil or other toppers but wondered what you would suggest that I could make at home instead of buying it from the pet store? Thanks so much
i would like to know where you bought the plastic base, i want to make one for my dog, i know i can buy it already made, but. it makes me very excited to make it myself. where did you buy the plastic base, it is very difficult to find something like this.
Fleece is good because it doesn't really fray or unravel like some fabrics. T-shirt strips hold together decently, so that might be just fine, but it may not be as durable over time
Hi, I am a fan. I hope it is fine with you. I need to just take a few seconds of this clip for my video promoting the use of dog toys for our dog's health. I will give credits at the end of my video.
I use regular novelty fabric too. Sometimes an old sweatshirt. Just want to pick it up once they're done searching just so they don't eat or destroy it if your dog has that tendency. My young Dobe doesn't even want his lunch in his bowl anymore. Has to be his snuffle mat.
Hi, quick side note. Instead of cardboard, try to use a square of the same cloth so that is washable.
Love that idea! For that, I would sew little suction cups to the outer edges so it secures to the floor and doesn't move around easily when the dogs play :)
How? Poke holes in the fabric then tie it?
Dollar store command strips would work perfectly and not be a problem for washing and won't ruin the floor
So glad I saw this post
Approximately how much material was needed?

Dawn, how did it go?
Much easier and better than buying an expensive one 👍

Dollar tree has similar mats!
I found a sink mat just like that at the Dollar Tree.
Dot Gale That’s amazing!!
That's the best place to buy it! $2
Amazon charges close to $8-$10!!
We're going to make them at the shelter I volunteer at. Thank you, now I know how! I love how your furbaby was patiently waiting on the sofa behind you 😂

So happy to hear this!!
What kind of shirts, dress shirts or t-shirts?

This was the best of 5 youtube videos I saw on this topic. Thank you for posting.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed the video. Happy crafting - hope your pup enjoys their new toy!

Starting my first snuffle mat tomorrow with what I found as a base. Thx so excited!
Definitely making this matt for our puppy! So easy! Thanks for the tutorial!
Great quick video with clear instructions
Nice and full too. Sara Ondrako also shows how to put a pocket in so it's a different way that the dog has to search for the treats.
Grand pups presents for sure!! Thanks
Theyre also great carpets 😝
haha and dog beds! When I leave mine on the floor for a while, my two small pups usually go relax on it lol
I will be making one of these for my dog soon. Great tutorial! Thanks
I bet your pup is going to love it :)
Amazing 🎉

Thank you. Great idea.
i made one and my dog Loves it!!!
Hi, you can use canvas fabric for that instead cardboard
Wow
My dogs would just play with the mat 😂
I think I’ve got some leftover chicken wire from puppy proofing my porch and some old fabric, I’m going to make one of these first thing in the morning
I don't have old fleece blankets. How many yards of fleece are needed for each color?
That great idea's
Love this easy diy! Do you think it'll be a good toy for a puppy?
Would this work for cats too?
How do you clean this?
Hand wash and hang dry :)
What size is the mat base?
This is so amazing just subscribed!!! Can’t wait to get my dog to try out these creative diys!!!
Question: My 10yo 33 pound dog will growl when someone will pet him and talk to him near his face or be rough with the petting. What should I do?
At a certain time I think you need to wash your mat and with cardboard base???
Hmmmm...Interesting
Would it be okay to do it with old jeans?
Love that idea! I think that would be great :)
Hello and thank you for video. Is there another place with I can purchase the sink mats with holes? I have looked at the dollar stores here in Canada nd they dont sell them. Thank you
I'm in Canada and found them at Dollar Tree
Thank you. Finally found some at our dollar tree store ❤
Would to work to use the minky type of fleece?
what if your dog tries to bite it and shake it?
How do you wash this? I'm sure it will get full of drool!
I don’t even have a dog lmao
How much fleece did you use ?
A Lot
@@funnyandrew7782 How many yards would you say? Guesstimate.

.... My chihuahua was picky until i found it...
My husky loves tuna mixed in once a week!
Hola soy nueva mi nombre es dominga me encantó tu canal pero no subes videos traducidos al español 😔

Does it have to be fleece? Or can you use old clothing/towels?
Fleece is good because it doesn't really fray or unravel like some fabrics. T-shirt strips hold together decently, so that might be just fine, but it may not be as durable over time
What size sink mat did you use? I'm making some for my local shelter.

Where did you get the kitchen mat?
I am going to the 99 cent store near me home tomorrow and see if they have some or maybe dollar general
Thank you!
I got mine from Amazon! Here's a link: amzn.to/2CNQZY7
I found mine at Dollar Tree....
How much fleece do you buy?
Buy the sink mat at Dollar Tree
I would not use peanut butter as the treat here.
Would I be able to do this with a stretch knit material/tshirts instead of fleece? Fleece is a dog hair magnet! Lol!
That's what I was thinking too. I have a pug. 😅
I use regular novelty fabric too. Sometimes an old sweatshirt. Just want to pick it up once they're done searching just so they don't eat or destroy it if your dog has that tendency. My young Dobe doesn't even want his lunch in his bowl anymore. Has to be his snuffle mat.
Anyone in Australia know where to find these mats? 😊
Angel Chempel I used a door Matt from Bunnings x the rubber ones with holes
Candece Kenrick thank you. Life saver 😊
After you insert each fabric strip do you tie them or was that just for the first one?
I think you tie all of them.
I would knot each one twice for added security. I also heard these can be made with rubber perforated floor tiles. They are heavier and more durable.
Are these washable? 💛
I've read comments &people said that they just toss them right in the washer
As long as you don't make the cardboard version then yes :)
The sink mats are not phthalate free. I would not use them.
She has a poodle in the background
Can I use wood and drill holes in it?
I wouldnt. If any if the wood were to chip off the dog would swallow it and get sick
You could but it would be very hard to wash and these need washing occasionally.
Oh okay so u dont take offf the mat just leave it on there
So what is the point to this? Is it bad for a dog to scarf down their food? Or is this just for the owner's entertainment?
These are for cats aswell
