They always say putting things back together is 10x harder than taking them apart which is definitely the case with my #bmw #x3m #rebuild project. This could be the most challenging video to date too as now we need to reinstall the 6 cylinder S58 back into the car and try to get it started!

P1 auto keys is a great guy as you can see from this video, very down to earth type of guy.

Swear there was a little (comedy) dig at Mat Armstrong in there.....a little comment about the starter motor having an earth that needed to be connected 🤣 Anyway, great build and so glad you got it started. If I looked at that, I would cry and walk away!

Great video Chris, you could feel the despair and then the relief when it started, you can tell you are really invested in your builds and the channel has come on leaps and bounds. You are following the Mat Armstrong mould and that’s no slight on you at all, it works, you’re good friends with Mat so I’m sure you can get some really good advice of how to keep moving the channel forward. What you are doing is working and it’s genuine. Keep it up and I can’t wait to see the X3M on the road👍🇬🇧

always check the transfer case oil and dont forget to recalibrate it after mount the engine..

ME PERSONALLY.....I would of left that windshield out. Until after the engine was in. Ive seen too many times things pop off...hit the windshield. But loving this series

Chris you’re doing an awesome job, if you have someone else do the alignment when you’re done, I’d ask them if they can break the front arms loose (on the subframe side) and retighten. Those arms need to be tightened when the suspension is under load or they can make a creak or popping noise. I leave the swaybar drop link off and then use a jack to push up on the suspension to normal ride height then tighten the arms down. Hope that makes sense but will save you time trying to figure out why the front end makes noise.

Oh this is brilliant, my heart skipped a beat when it didn’t start at first! But yay team work and you lads sorted it!!’ 🤩and yes Dips definitely knows his stuff.
For the gearbox, the way ZF fills oil is by running it and filling at the exact same time.
My dad's 330d had a cracked sump. Replaced it and filled oil, ran it and switched it off, filled more. Afterwards it wasn't changing gears as quickly and it was slipping. When we went to ZF they had the car running and they filled it even more because strangely it was 2 liters low even though oil was flowing out as we filled it.
So running it while filling AND OIL MUST DRIP OUT LIKE AN OPEN TAP

So sometimes it just takes the ECU a moment to catch up with reading the car . But chuffed for you mate a lot of hard work paid off.

your ecu connectors prob wasnt in all the way. When u disconnect and reconnect the ecu, if its not locked in place it wont start. When u reassemble the ecu jiggle the connectors to make sure its in.
I’ve got the notifications switched on, but never get one from this channel for some reason, love you and Mats work!
interested in this video (s) because i have the same car, so cool to see it completely apart, you left nothing for the imagination, would not see more on the factory floor, kudos for even attempting this project, that is how you learn. I would not run the engine without coolant though, the thermostat is still closed therefore not activating the pump yet for circulation, but things get how real quick and there is no coolant to act as a heatsink until it starts to flow......looking forward to seeing it roll now under full power.

I have to admit. After watching what happened with the Supercharging of the M3 I really doubted that this thing would go as smooth as it has. Mind you he did bring in outside help for starting it. But everyone must start somewhere and hey why no start with it posted where all the world can watch you struggle and screw up LOL. Great Job guys!!! Keep up the fun!!

I dont really recomend using always the same picture for all the series of each car… see a new video uploaded and them the same picture is like it loose a like bit of hype. Just a small recomendation. Nice build!!!!!!

its advised to install windshield after engine installation, since due to weight, and slight deformation windshield can crack, hope it wont happen!
