You're an inspiration Dan. The story about how you struggled with learning English in Canada as a student inspired me. Now you speak with such fluency... I have a lot of respect for you because of that aside from being a great mentor. I say this because as an American living in Japan trying to start my own business here, I have a very steep uphill battle to fight against... it's already challenging to do business in a language you can understand but now as a second language, it takes a massive amount of focus, patience and effort. It's beyond challenging however not impossible. So much to learn! Thank you for the free value you bring for aspiring business men and women. Cheers!

Very well explained! I do a combination in my IT business, have Hourly, Service Level Agreements, and often price to the value of the job. I wish I could measure their productivity gain just because things run better, and price on that! The biggest improvements I have made is making my service contracts monthly with no end date, and getting quarterly in the pockets of clients who only call me 2x/yr. with remote management and monitoring per machine. I get them to do that by only offering my fastest cheapest service with the RMM tool.

10 Years Making Websites, and just in the past 2 years, it seems like I have finally found the niche pricing model that works for me. Price to value wins every single time. If I have the opportunity to present my numbers to 10 clients. 8 times out of 8 the deal closes; AS LONG as I have the right client.

Knowing your customers affordability rather than your worth demand is what matters most. That's how most Chinese excell more in business because affordability is the key. Not the value of the product. High valued products often left unsold on markets or ignored if it is too costly or a bit high. Public selling is the key. Not the brand.

I sell phones for a living and at a prepaid level. Our store only makes money off accessories and service plans. So it is always important to find the right fit. The biggest thing that helped me literally climb to the top of the power ranker in my whole company is having the cost up front. I would have an accessory bundle perfect fit for the phone I had in mind and cost of service all up front. I stopped the objection before it even happened. Now time to time I will have a customer say, "no that is to much." I will then recustomize the accessory bundle to fit their price or give them reason as to why the price is what it is to give value to what they are buying.
Prepaid sales are way harder than contract sales. But I found this way that works with ease!

Thanks Dan... I’m assessing how to price my line of women’s wear that I make myself. I’ve decided I will scaffold my prices with entry level skirts that are not as detailed and finished as well or made from as a high a quality denim as my higher priced items so that I can allow the customer to see the VALUE in the QUALITY of what I do. This is a very difficult area for designers and makers like me. You have helped a lot. I am seeking long term clients who come to me for quality but I need to move product at the same time. So having a VARIETY of prices is probably the best start. I hope!!

I sell books (my own translations), and I price to the package. For example, one book has 1,200 pages, in two parts, with 38 chapters. I sell it whole, in two parts, and by chapter (sometimes, if two or three chapters are related, I'll sell them as a package). Another book is a series of shorter books. I sell the book whole as well as by series. I get good results, and can price way below cost, because I sell the books as e-books and use Amazon as my platform. It is the only way I can generate consistent royalties. I also only translate material that is in the public domain.

Hello Dan. This has been a very informative 20 minute video. This is what I learned.
For the last month, I have been creating pixelated NFT murals for people who want to see their digital assets in real life. Since I am entering a new market, the Price to Pay the Bills method has allowed me to test the waters, and perfect my craft. However, this video helped me realize that the focus of this method is to acquire more customers while breaking even. All of the profits is going to come from the follow up offers. Thank you for opening my eyes, and I hope to build enough steady growth to move to more success!

Working for a food ingredients company, it is mostly a commodity business. Generally I do not like to discount unless it is significant volume involved where competitor is using a breakeven pricing strategy to get into a market and we are forced to defend market share by reducing profit margins. It's all about knowing your customer and the market

I love this pricing tutorial. #Pricing. I think the 'Price To Package' would work best if you are providing a service that doesn't cost a lot of initial capital such as well development where you mostly spend your time and effort. Or even business planning. You don't need initial costs, you only get profit from the client as all that payment becomes profit due to less initial costs on the project. Who's with me‽ I also like the price to positioning because then you're able to various down your target market and drive them only one stream down the valley which leads only to you ❤️❤️🔥🥵

Base on the current pandemic situation right now, im more comfortable with using the Price to your competition. Most sellers here have the same products to offer. So the buyer would mostly prefer to the seller whom they think they knw and offers much cheaper cost.
I found your videos very useful. As a first timer, it helps me a lot to be more knowledgeable in putting myself and my business into correct position. Would u recomend me tips on how make my product more enticing than the other similar products?

Great Input Dan. I always set the price higher then my competitors and that works very well. But everything needs to be aligned to charge a higher price. That is one of my success factors by selling on Amazon FBA.

This is similar to how I consume goods. Your favorite model is how I live out of my own pocket. For example, now this is not a successful outcome or is it. Once I emailed Billabong and O’Neill to request they make me a wetsuit for surfing that looks like the comic of Aquaman. I offered to pay $1,200 on top of the cost of the material and labor. Nobody came back with a yes but I was not willing to go higher because this would now be outside of my value scope or limit lines and perhaps they saw it the same way.

The problem I notice from clients as a contractor, is that they themselves should be the ones to offer up a better deal when it comes to negotiation. If I charge you say 20k for a complete remodel of your home, you don’t say “can you do it for less” you say “what’s the charge if I pay you in cash”? Because at that point you the client don’t make the contractor feel less of a businessman for wanting something cheap! Anyone can get things for the right money, but not everyone knows how to negotiate. The same thing when buying a car. I was able to get a 25k brand new car for about 17k and all I did was offer 10k in cold hard cash! Theirs a reason that there’s a saying “money talks”

All of your videos are so helpful. I love them. There is just one thing: won’t paying a bonus to someone for doing something cheaply and quickly just cause them to cut corners in terms of time and materials just to get the bonus? Yes they made the project cheaply and quickly, but you end up with a substandard, terrible product. Surely that isn’t something you want. How can you avoid this happening using that pricing strategy?
