This is a tape of incredible importance for any sports car "Golden Years" enthusiast. A sit down with two old road warriors who drove in the same races together. It give a first hand view of what it was like to be behind the wheel at Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, and many other West Coast races. I know from interviewing Phil for his book "Inside Track" he had a great respect for Bill. When Bill started driving the "Black Allard" in 1951 into the middle of 1953 Phil tried everything to beat him to the checker flag driving Hornberg's light weight Jaguar XK-120 and Phil's own Ferrari 212. Nothing worked until Phil got his Ferrari 250MM and finally won at the 1953 Pebble Beach race against that dreaded "Black Allard".

AMAZING!!!!!!! Thank you for posting this! Is there an unedited version? I'd love to hear more of the back and forth between those two.

Legend. MG TC😎. Bill Pollack was of the 'greatest generation ' and piloted B-26s in the war. So interesting to hear them talk about those days, about suspension geometry and drum brakes with skinny tires❤. Racing nowadays is of course somewhat entertaining, occasionally. But it's so sanitized, at least in Sportscar and open wheel. Very dull to watch. There's no sliding, the cars are all on massive slicks and watching them, it's hard to appreciate the speed. Give me 50s Sportscar Racing any day. Roll on the revival!
