    Placement of rocks calculated very much! I want to look the time when the flower of the lotus blooms there. Koi are beautiful, too!

    Hello Guru, nice to hear from you. I secured the boulders with construction foam, it is a triple expanding foam, non-toxic to fish etc. I use the same type of underlay, and we use underlayment on every project. Nice to talk to a brother across the biggest pond!! take care

    Pricing on a pond this size, not as a renovation, would begin at about 10K and would go up depending on what the exact design is.

    Thank you! In this video series I try to play out the entire installation and care process whenever possible. A little peek into the world of pond building. Thanks for the feedback!

    Typical pond installation pricing is around 6K, but prcing always depends on size and other factors.

    Hey, thanks for checking out the videos and commenting, please subscribe! Most of this type of pipe I actually get from an engineering company in my area who does roadwork etc. Its basically culvert pipe and I get it for free because their scraps are my building tools, it comes in 20+ foot lengths so when they have a bunch of 3-4ft. pieces to be trashed I asl them for it.... "one mans trash".... thanks again!

    Understood!! That goes for us both..when the time comes if I can be of any help, let me know. Take care.

    Off hand I do not remember how many feet of liner exactly I used to construct this pond, but a good way to calculate liner is the length of the pond + twice the depth of the pond. In other words a 10'X5'X2' pond would use a 14'X9' liner. I ALWAYS oversize the liner by a foot or more to allow for creativity as I build. If you ever want some feedback or suggestions send me some photos of your pond, I've sone that for others with good results. Every bit of help helps!

    Hey, I am always looking for an excuse to travel and build a pond. If the project is right let me know!! I know a good pond builder over in England I could refer you too if you need help. But in all seriousness travel to England to do or help in a build is not out of the question. Makes for interesting video too....

    Another great pond. The style of cascade seems to be common in the U.S. Are the boulders fixed with cement or just carefully placed. The reason I ask is that when I build a pond / cascade I always assume kids are going to climb all over it, hence I always fix with cement so if it withstands me walking all over it it will stand the test of time with children. The ground looked sweet there, I always use a polyester underlay under the rubber - our soils aren't too good in England. Did you underlay?

    Hey Arteom, I'd need a whole bunch more info to tell you exactly how to keep it clean, but a great new piece of equipment out there is called the IONGEN and it is supposed to practically eliminate algae growth. I just installed one for a client, and one is going onto my personal pond and my public display ponds too. I'll give you feedback on the results, but it is supposed to be great!! Tell me more specifics about what is going on with your pond and I can make some suggestions. thanks

    One more thing, were can i get my hands on a IONGEN i looked around online and can seem to find it. Seen pictures of it though, looks that is really cheap, price wise.That's a good thing!

    What if you have punctures, with slow leaks? How do you find where the leaks are in the black poly?

  • @thePondHunter
    @thePondHunter  14 лет назад

    @Moleculow When it comes to design, a major consideration is what my customers are asking me to do and what THEY find attractive; then that's what we install. With the addition of plantings and giving the pond time to mature this "rockpile" does naturalize very nicely. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    The water itself is clear - Really clear because i have a UV Clarifier. But i spent to much money and it doesn't work! The rocks have green alge all over them! You can't see the color of the rocks, for example on character boulder there was a yellowish color - it's green now! I have no clue how to get rid of it, i had my pond for only three months and so soon i am starting to regret it! Can you give me some tips on how to keep it clean?

  • @Arteolike
    @Arteolike 15 лет назад

    Hey there Mike! Well I have filled my pond with water and added five 3"-4" koi from a online website that ships directly from japan good prices too! But i am disappointed because i can seem to keep clean, there is algae growing on the rocks and it looks horrible! What can i do about it to keep it clean?

    very true and you keep changing things you are never done .I have to replace my liners as some animal chewed through my liner .45 mil liners are not light and doing it my self .Any good ideas on how to move 2 ft long koi to a holding tank with out stressing them out

    • @thePondHunter
      @thePondHunter  10 лет назад

      Hello Sissy. A pond is never done! If you need to move a large koi use a "koi sock" it is a type of net for larger koi and keeps themas calm as a captured fish will be! Thanks for checking out the videos and commenting!

    Hi, there is a definate method for finding leaks, fast or slow. It is a step by step process but I have used it for many years with problem ponds. It's too long to describe here BUT you CAN find it on my website under the FAQ's, the method is described in detail. Just about any leak can be found.....just about ;-)

  • @N0zProductions

    awesome how much do you think it would be to get a pond built by you ?

  • @Moleculow
    @Moleculow 14 лет назад

    @dkj1835 The falls area needs much bigger boulders to keep it from looking like a rockpile. using 1 or 2 ton boulders adds tremendously to the cost of the project.
    Adding strategic plantings in the rockwork would do much to camouflage that barren look. It takes about a year for it to start looking more natural.

    With a pond this size, using liner, how do you deal with a puncher?

    • @thePondHunter
      @thePondHunter  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Dillon. There are a few ways to deal with a punctured liner, it typically would require a patch placed over the puncture point.

  • @bigbear587

    How many feet of liner is there in that pond? my pond is 4 foot deep on one end and 12 inches on the other its 13 foot wide by 17 foot long its a big rectangle wish a 12 foot stream well its almost 15 inches deep I have a creek running into my pond. I wish I had done more planning I did it when I Was 22 now 25 and its still a mess trying to figure out ways to make it look more like a pond than a pool.

    Hello Arteom, get in touch with me directly by phone or email and I will have a unit shipped to you. They run about $400.00 per unit. I have installed the unit and plan on installing more on my display ponds that I have open to the public. This unit will likely become part of every installation that I do from now on.
