    The higher refresh rates are still relevant for stuff like panning and scrolling. For 3d art I’m sure it helps as well.. so, still a bit of a bummer.

      exactly high framerate monitors are not just for gaming, it gives a much smoother experience as you know from your mobile phone, no one want 60hz on a phone anymore. So why is it ok on Desktop ?

    Great review! I’m also a digital painter and I also had trouble matching my external display’s color with my MacBook. Wish I can see a side by side comparison between this one and Mac Studio display, just want to see how accurately BenQ matches Mac’s color. Other than the contrast, how well do you think it matches with MacBook in terms of saturation and hue? Thank you very much!

    • @AdamDuffArt
      @AdamDuffArt  7 месяцев назад

      They match very reliably - and even more so in the blacks due to the improved contrast ratio
      The studio display does have slightly better contrast but it’s a reliable enough match to not be problematic
      That said, my opinion is that I wouldn’t use them as side by side monitors - I would use this as a standalone or use two BenQs or two Studio displays for perfect color matching

  • @aleks_ivic
    @aleks_ivic 7 месяцев назад +1

    Excellent video as always Adam! How does the color profile match up with a studio display or macbook pro? I currently have the older BenQ 32 but no matter what color calibration tool i use (SpyderX, etc) I cannot get it to align with an Apple display.
    The BenQ color profiles have a thing called "mbook" but colors are quite off and always have to drag the photoshop window back to the laptop screen to ensure colors are where im expected to be at.

    • @AdamDuffArt
      @AdamDuffArt  7 месяцев назад +1

      It matches up beautifully - the Studio Display does have a glass finish with slightly darker blacks but the color balance and contrast holds up nicely - I didn’t feel the need to calibrate right out of the box but you’ll most likely want to calibrate later on down the line once colors start to shift (as usual)

    If it's not 5k it is not a true apple studio display contender. BenQ should drop the speakers and pairing software-we only care about a matching 5K resolution for a truly crisp display! I don’t understand why no company gets this. It's so obvious, yet no one has done it. What’s going on? I’ve been waiting for BenQ or Dell to step up with this for years now. My for 4k display makes me feel I am going blind cuz I am not getting that delicious crispy display after waiting for so many years. I am starving to death and think that from now on I will no longer await a single beat for this company's to step it up. They just keep adding bells and whistles but they don't add what truly makes is a studio display contender.

    • @AdamDuffArt
      @AdamDuffArt  6 дней назад +1

      Yeah - many companies budget in things that really don’t contribute to the overall experience, like speakers or accessories that nobody will ever use.
      I would 100% swap budget on build-in speakers for a superior panel or specs. Nobody’s going to fork over a large chunk of money on a monitor and use the built-in speakers. They’ll obviously spend a bit more and get decent ones.

    Apple might drop a 6K 32" 120hz soon, as all of you are wishing. But don't expect it to cost $999. Even the current 6K 32" 60hz is $4999. So the question is, would you spend an extra 4K (pun intended) to move up from 4K?

      its the same as all 32 inch 4k monitors. It does not scale perfectly but as its 32 inch you would usually put it further away and thus get a crispy image. If you put it very close you will instantly notice a soft or blurry image

    For making digital (2D) art for digital viewing and print, is there actually some big advantage to have one of these designer monitors, aside from the personal enjoyment? Since the people in the audience who look at the art on their own devices wont have a super monitor, instead they probably have the cheapest available - so it's best to make sure the image looks good on most average screens. And then the printing... the stars have to align for a print shop to even know what is a colour profile, I just make the art assuming the print will surprise me every time (and no new run of the same print is gonna look the same either).
    ~10 years ago I used to have an ok art monitor and a calibrator, but I never figured out what the real benefit there was, nobody else is ever going to look at the drawing from my screen.
    Since then I've gotten majority of my gear from recycling bins (I'm the real legit furry trash).
    Even with traditional media trying to be precise is kinda silly, the result will look so different under different light conditions.
    This could be taken even further to how our ability to even perceive colour and values (especially the light and dark ends) is so dramatically different per individual.
