I installed a fulton fold away hinge on my boat trailer last year! I use to unbolt the tongue and slip it under the boat to fit it into the garage, folding the tongue is a lot easier!
How’s the gadget holding up? Needing this on a brand new Tracker trailer but on the fence about my DIY skills and a new trailer. I’m assuming my dewalt grinder and a couple good cutting wheels will make a neat cut. Then just drill holes and bolt it on right? Did everything line up good and easy and does the trailer still pull true? Is there a certain area you suggest making the cut?
So I just installed this also. And after I read the directions I put the"MALE" end on the wrong side the same as you did. I really don't want to remove this thing after installing it did you have and issues with it the way you installed it?
I think what the previous owner had in mind was a “removable tongue” to discourage theft. That would be the last thing a thief would want to mess with, especially if he was previously unaware. - keep your tongue area hidden from view so thieves can’t do reconnaissance.
Good job on the install. For added support, I would have left the inner tube in place and just cut through it. This would have added more support in that area.
@@TinyBoatNation unplug it first and palm the locking nut and disc, lock the lock and tighten the nut with the disc by turning it all at once. Gets it more than tight enough you'll never use the wrench again. Same way to loosen it..
Hey man is the Fulton really fuckin wiggly? I received one, thought it was loose/wiggly, sent it back and the new one is just as loose fitting. The play actually causes the bolt on the hinge to bend and it becomes a NON fold away after a couple years. I had one on a pressure washer trailer and i assumed it was due to the smaller diameter. The new sloppy one is a full inch bigger and it’s still sloppy. Pls let us know how tight it is.
Don’t use Fulton they break after 2 years of use and mine smashed the back of my truck. The boat company that used to use them said they are no good and are going to a better product!
Next step would be to replace the $9.99 tow hitch ( buy wholesale for $3.99 lol) and put on a proper reliable cast steel flip latch.... That way those long chains will never need to action a cable restrained. Just remember in a cost instated market EVERYTHING is built down to a price! Not up to a quality
It's probably in the comments, but this was a removable tongue to fit into the garage, just needed to replace the back bolt with a pin, like a bear removable tongue copy cat mod
@@TinyBoatNation I talked to the company that uses the trailers with Fulton swing away, they said they no longer use the Fulton swing away because two many failures

All the grinding and painting next to a white car was freaking me . And that is a badass mod
Yeah. He will have tail dust on his car for sure. Was thinking the same thing.
I came here to say this. RIP glass and clear coat
lol, watching the video I was thinking there's no way I would have ever driven home with that trailer until I saw it had the inner steel beam hahaha.
Moments! my life is just a bunch of moments haha, sweet project , I really need to put the fold away on my trailers
How far away did you cut it,from trailer folding swing wheel ?4 inches?

Michael Lopez thanks for the update.
Think I’m gonna do it.
Need to figure out what size, get some good sawz all blade s and bits then dive in👍

No, it works fine
Will this work on a triton trailer with an aluminum tongue?
What size is your boat?

Can’t find these anywhere!!!

I seriously regret not doing that
*grabs bolts* says "these are really big screws" lol
Your aware of how to tighten the grinders disc and locking nut with out using the wrench right?

@@chipsammich2078 If you are on a production line! LOL
Nice job, nice video! Slow down before you have a heart attack! LOL
Instead of a very long chain couldn't you just add another set of small chains between the swing away?
Just a guess - that piece sticking up may have been for a hydraulic brake actuator attempt.
Great video, thanks
Hey man I see you do.alot with rivets. Have you ever thought of investing in the milwaukee m12v river gun?
Instead of a fold away tongue you should of done detachable tongue they work really good. Same principle as a fold away.

Drill press makes that kind of work much easier.
get a step bit for the exceptional large holes
Run the chain on the inside of the box

Very nice
I watch the video right now a that was a extension it’s for people that won’t like to put trucks on water 💦!!
Don’t use Fulton swing away ! Mine broke after three years. Then the boat came around and hit the back of my truck punching a hole in my tail gate!
@@TinyBoatNation I talked to the company that uses the trailers with Fulton swing away, they said they no longer use the Fulton swing away because two many failures
Previous owner extended the trailer to make the boat fit that trailer.
Be careful with the direction of your carpet. If it’s not all laid the same way it will appear to be a different shade of color!
I found that out
Changed disc with cord plugged in? Huh? Really?
Nice job, but it’s getting dark!
an old blanket over the white car would help
..well I just found a way to straighten my trailer neck.
What's a trailer neck?
Nice catch in the safety chain. I checked my winch strap today and the sewing was tearing apart. Time to replace all if my straps for next season.
Why am I watching this video? 🤷♂️
