Maybe it's the movie sound, because I'm astonished at the criticism of the singing. These are some of the best voices in musical theater. I've seen many of them live, including Anthony Rapp, and they are amazing.
The characters were modeled after the writer Jonathan Larson's friends. He was telling their stories and bringing awareness to what they were going through during the aids epidemic.
I'm so glad you guys enjoyed it! If you're curious; my fave song from the movie is actually a deleted scene called Goodbye Love! You'll see it in the Broadway version but there is also the deleted scene if y'all wanna see these actors sing it for comparison! Just thought I'd letcha know!
Yes I love goodbye love. One of the reasons I’m definitely partial to the stage show is all of the good songs you miss out in in the movie. It’s so much better
The writer of Rent Jonathan Larson creator and composer died the night before Rent's Off-Broadway premiere at the New York Theatre Workshop. This is better seen as the play and not the movie.
😂 I laugh when you mention the fire marshal. You wouldn't find one in Alphabet City at this point in time. 😂 And nah, these came before hipsters. These were what hipsters were mimicking. The stunts were done by the actors, including Angel's and Collin's. These are mostly the original cast of the stage musical, so there's not really room for stunt doubles in that line of work.
This reaction was horrible. You freaking talked through so many emotional scenes. Have some maturity guys. You all wouldn't shut the hell up through the whole thing. People we're dying and you all were just running your mouths laughing... SMH!!!!!!!!!!
The biggest problem with the movie is the people were way too old. I like that they mostly used the original cast, but seeing how young the characters are makes it even more sad...
Rent be high

"The Saddest Hipsters" ☠️☠️☠️
This is the musical that got me into musicals.

“I don’t know anything about music” “id like it better if some of the singers werent flat” funny, considering none of them were flat.
The Broadway version is better, and in the filmed final performance, Renée Elise Goldsberry plays Mimi (amazingly)
We watching it next
TwoScoopsXD hell, I own it lol. If I could share I would - but it lives in the DCMA paradise that is Amazon

The Broadway version is so. much. better. More age-appropriate, at least.
AHHH I BEEN WAITING FOR YALL TO WATCH THIS (btw the i think you'll like broadway version better cuz the vocals are amazing)💕
The funny part is, when you started singing “ I has a dream my life would be-“ the actress in that shot (idina menzel) actually sung that song on Glee

These people really need to grasp what Rent is truly about. I recommend watching the Johnathan Larson documentary.
What a horrible video.
Y'all need to expand your perception of drug addicts they don't all look like zombies barely functioning
I grew up surrounded by crackheads
"He can sing, but he ain't lookin' both ways." 😆 💀

Two Scoops of Love
Never knew I needed this video until I did
This is one of my favorite movies / musical ❤️
Some of the actors even have aids (I think 3 or 4). I remember watching this movie as a kid. Somehow it always stuck with me.
Okay, if you ever do any more polls for musicals, I suggest Across the Universe for it's many Beatles songs, and how unbelievably white it is
Y'all just call taye diggs that black guy????
Fuck I'm old.
How convenient it's the first of the month...
If this is sad you need to see the opera it’s based on... Very heavy
"ahh Drugs... " should be on a shirt.
There's always one bag of cheetos on your couch as if it's apart of the decor

We did seasons of love in my 5th grade winter concert, but I'm pretty sure that we didn't change the lyrics for my school.
You should watch the 2008 Broadway cast of rent. It’s even better
French subtitles means ya'll stole the movie. Caught!
Nah bruh. We rented Rent
its an act of solidarity with the characters to not pay for shit
@@samkatstudio bruh I actually rented it but it was too slow and then bought it. Spent like 20 dollars just for this video
The guy who play Mark is the reason Kevin Spacey was cancelled.
