Edit 4: Well now I've done it, I better get cracking. I've got a walkman on its way from eBay and as soon as I get it, I'll make the video. RUclips can take up to a month to approve monetisation so just hold your horses and I'll deliver promptly.
Edit 3: The quality of my handwriting seems to beg the question of authenticity of the time capsule. Well, all I can say is that I went to a private school and my family placed a big emphasis on education. And we didn't have a computer until I was 12 so all my assignments and homework was handwritten, giving me lots of practice. (We did have a computer, a Commodore 64, from when I was 7, but did have a printer so I couldn't write an essay on it.)
Edit 2: When I first posted the video I didn't care. But seeing as it has over 300k views now I do care. A few months ago RUclips demonetised my account because I had less than 4000 hours viewed in the last 12 months and less than 1000 subscribers. Now I have 16,000 hours viewed I want 1000 subs so I can get remonetised, post the video with the tape, and reap the revenue rewards.
Edit: for everyone calling it fake cos it's not dirty or rusted, I was keeping it in a box under my bed for the whole time. It's not like I buried it. I didn't dig it up somewhere. I took care of it cos I wanted it to last long enough for me to forget what I put in it. My channel isn't even monetised. What's the point in faking something for views? Imaginary internet points?
If you think this is fake, you are a bandwagon hopping person who doesn't know what you are talking about.
1) Batteries not leaking is because they were NOT in a device and not apparantly SLOWLY DISCHARGED before being stored. Batteries that leak are kept in a device for a long time which means not slowly discharged and leak after they are removed or are kept in the device. These batteries wouldn't leak because they were in a tempature controlled enviorment and NOT in a device.
2) The writing wouldn't be faded if it wasn't exposed to light or sun. What would fade it? This marker is clearly permanent, as most are, but NOT lightfast. Dye based is also easier to fade in light compared to pigment ink.
3) Why would it be rusty or dirty if it was in a controlled enviorment? You can't assume people's homes are humid all the time, or that dirt piles up in people's rooms. If that's what you think then maybe comparing your dirty home to someone else's and expecting the same conditions is the issue.
4) Nothing would happen on the inside. It was sealed and indoors. What did you expect, a bunch of damn locusts and rust? Read the description.
5)What the fuck is the reason to lie? There's better ways to get attention then the ultra specific time capsule of 25 years route. It's a cool fucking video. Don't be negative AND stupid. It isn't a good look.
Personally I thought this video was really cool, I was surprised to see so many children crying fake over this specific video.

I don't really see a difference, honestly but I'm guessing the pace he wrote it at was different. Sometimes we change the speed, weight, attention and marker we write with and it just looks different.

I think being skeptical is great, but the reasons people are giving me are pretty weak and based on their own expectations of what a time capsule should be. "It's fake because it's not dirty / stuff isn't ruined / tin isn't rusted / tin isn't moldy / the permanent marker hasn't rubbed off / the ink looks too fresh / the handwriting is different" and that's just the few reasons I remember. I even explained in one comment that The Foreign Candy Company whose logo is all over the warheads stopped importing them in 2003. But who has time to read the comments these days!

That's some awesome packing tape, that shit practically dissolves in 2 years for me, and the electric tape 3 years, and I want a marker like yours that doesn't fade after 6 months, let alone 25 years!
It probably helped that the tape was applied to a rigid surface and the tin was kept in a stable environment. The marker was a proper 20th century chemical hazard, full of xylene. They don't make 'em like they used to.
In 1988 I was jumped for my Raiders jacket and hat along with my backpack,Walkman and shoes! They were caught but only my back pack was recovered. It was put in a evidence locker at the police station and when I went to pick it up they told me it was lost! Fast forward 10 years, I received a box in the mail and low and behold it was my new pair of shoes I bought at foot locker!.................Just kidding, it was my back pack sent from Seattle police department with all my stuff still in it(I was headed to a friends house for a sleepover). Thanks my time capsule story!

i made a time capsule in 1987 with my cousin. I found it about 6 years ago in my parents attic but i wanted to wait to open it with my cousin who lives in another state, but before he could visit my house was burglerized and the box was ripped opened. Noting of real value but missed out on the experience

expiration dates are mostly a business tactic. Candy getting old? in a dry container and packaged? still good for a while.
I tried this when I was 9 (1993). I put it in a plastic box with bags like this. I had to dig it up only a year later because my grandparents were digging up the backyard. Everything was wet even the sealed plastic bags. To this day I have no idea what went wrong.

The batteries would only be corroded if they were in a device, sir. That's one huge way to prevent such a thing from happening.
A slow discharge with batteries will prevent them from leaking when they eventually go dead and this man did all the proper steps in keeping a battery from leaking by having it in a tempature controlled environment and not in a device.
My brother wrote his name on a truck with a sharpie nearly 20 years ago. It still looks fairly fresh. Did you know that permanent markers are permanent.

I'm about a year younger than you and grew up in the States, but some things in this I totally remember...one of the standouts being the HOT Warheads, which were discontinued sometime in the mid 90s.
I wasn't even born back then and I still feel like all of those things were big recently (except the racing game thing, I don't think those were ever popular where I live).
