Dr. Bellicchi was one of my students at WesternU College of Dental Medicine. He was a conscientious, caring student. I am proud of what he is becoming, and thankful that he is a part of my life.
Well Robert you literally made one of the smartest men on earth who helped develop a team for people with special needs in prosthetics. Something you can't get in the hospital really tbh. What a good teacher and what an awesome student he was. I'm sure he took everything you taught him and more and exceeded. Not many people too do soo
I am so happy for him. It is so hard to watch our loved ones and fellow humans suffer. This isn't even me just trying to sound like a good Samaritan. Nothing hurts more, than seeing our own personal unsung heros suffer, and nothing is better than seeing this man get help. I hope his confidence comes back.
Tho we never heard him speak with his mouth we don't need words to see this man has a beautiful soul that is full of love to give and care for others. God bless you and keep you Mr. Shirley
Reminds me of the artist who helped the WW1 soldiers who suffered traumatic facial injury on the battlefield. Some of their facial prosthetics were a work of art.
Facial reconstruction prosthetics, eye prosthetics (they use very red threads to emulate the red veins and the iris color job is amazing) should be considered one of the several forms of art, just like cinematography, painting, sculpting, etc. They are just applied into another subject, but they are real pieces of art. The detail, the realistic painting technique, the use of color, they define art.
@Ayethere M8 its curious cause, if u think about it from another perspective, prosthetics basically “give u back” ur lost expressions and allows u to give expressions, or give the ones u never had. Prosthetics also can be individually read according to ur own vision, just like a piece of art, they have different interpretations, from very realistic and accurate, to creepy, uncanny valley like. Just a little thought about it.
Absolutely amazing. My lovely brother had to have his tongue and mouth rebuilt after having mouth cancer. The maxillofacial specialist here in the UK was amazing. Good luck to Shirley and his family for the future x
