Actually, the word "did" is used when refering to something that was completed at some point in the past.
However, the word done is used when refering to something that started some time ago and is still happening, or was completed some time ago but has a lasting effect.
Both are grammatically correct, however done is the more accurate of the two.
You should probably make sure you know what your talking about if your gonna go around correcting people. :/

It has been said that pan paniscus (bonobo: playful prosociality/sociosexuality for promotion of group stability regardless of age and gender) also has similar variant of domestication syndrome to Williams syndrome which causes them to be slightly more emphathethic and tolerant compared to humans and pan troglodytes (chimpanzees: described as more despotic and more interested in proactive political games over status and fertile females) which are said to be more prone to proactive aggression. The first time I heard about Williams Syndrome was in an article I recently read about dogs. In the article it said that dogs had the same mutation that causes Williams Syndrome and it is this mutation that makes them so able to be loving and happy. The researcher who discovered this was afraid was that this would be insulting to the father of a son who had Williams Syndrome. He answered that if his son had a tail he'd be wagging it.

When watching a show or movie you're invested in, say for instance extreme home make over, the reveal when the people break down in tears of joy when seeing their new home that they desperately needed. if you felt their joy and teared up yourself. Or you could be watching it just like...ehh, they got a new house, big deal. He speaks with what I would call "positive-leaning neutral tone."
It's the *exact* way I speak to children. The younger the kid, the more exaggerated the tone.
It's actually very similar to how children themselves talk, so they respond quite well to it (they might even mistake you for one of them momentarily lol).
Though, it certainly has the drawback of not appearing genuine over a large sample size.
To speak on what someone else said:
He could really spice it up with a bit more charisma (Anthony Padilla tends to nail this, but Anthony & Chris are a bit apples & oranges), however, I think he may be trying to be consistent across all his videos (i.e. not showing more love to someone over another), bc that could be detrimental to his image, brand, channel, and overall mission/goal of his work.
The problem with that, as someone who is charismatic and able to see/dissect his "speech craft," is that it can be a little off putting depending on who he's talking with.
I think he may have intentionally hit her with the "are you happy we're friends" stuff bc he probably picked up that she likes him (it seemed obvious to me) and didn't want to set any expectations beyond the original intent of the interview.
I can sit here all day and come up with reasons to justify the way he speaks, and reasons to criticize it. But even the times when he comes off to me as not being completely genuine, I just remember what I'm watching...
And ultimately, it doesn't matter if he is genuine or not, or if his intent is altruistic or not, bc his channel is making the world a better place, and allowing people we didn't even know existed to feel heard & accepted from a community of open-minded, compassionate people... and you can't put a price on that.

He talks in an almost exaggeratedly friendly manner, but this is primarily to disarm and relax the speaker, who naturally feels more comfortable revealing things when they're not threatened or intimidated. If he sounds irritating or gets on your nerves, then it's your issue...

I can think of 2 reasons she got bullied. Her looks and because she's nice. It's pretty obvious that she looks different and sometimes that's all it takes to bully.
As for being too nice, that's also pretty common. I am pretty good looking and I always tried to not bother anyone as a kid. But I still got bullied. I quickly learned that being too nice means people want to take advantage of that and sometimes that means letting their anger out by bullying an easy target.

It's not even that mean people take advantage of you, you literally have no space in your head to worry about your own problems.

William's Syndrome is still a disability. It doesn't just cause the increase in empathy - it also leads to emotional outbursts, an increase in impulsivity that puts them at risk, a variety of cognitive and motor function difficulties and a shorter lifespan. Those with William's can live full, happy lives, but claiming that the world would be better if everyone had these conditions only hurts disabled people in the long run, as it doesn't acknowledge the parts of the disorders that negatively affect them.

Alexandra seems like a really cool person, her laugh seriously brightens up the sky. However, I think saying she doesn't have a disability is condescending, I can imagine so many things being hard for her in everyday life. Instead of saying "wow more people should be like you", we should be in conversation with her and people like her about how we can make society more accompanying

Yes, people in the comment section should really stop romanticizing such a difficult condition that will affect this person it a lot of different domains throughout her life. I wonder if any single one of these people would enjoy living with this condition themselves for even one day. (Spoiler alert: they wouldn't.)

most of the time (at least for me) my disabilities are difficult to manage because people tell me i’m normal or there’s nothing wrong with me. being disabled isn’t a bad thing, but it’s not really something to be jealous of. it’s like when kids would take your crutches when you broke your leg because they think they’re fun to use, not realizing you NEED the crutches and they’re still kind of annoying to use, and you’d probably rather just be able to walk.
i’m not a hero for being autistic, but i’m also not a helpless baby. i’m a person with struggles like anyone else, autism is one of mine.

I guess the message here is to just accept people as people - for however they are, "disability" or not. If someone bothers you or makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to hang around or be friends with that person. If you do, then you can if you want. "Can't everybody just get along?"

"I can feel what you feel"
I think she has a super power. She definitley does. Williams syndrom is most definitely a supernatural power. 💛

    • @ka-im5nd
      @ka-im5nd 3 года назад +17

No, it's a disability. As she said in the video, she's "an adult with a disability". It does have some positive impacts, like an increase in affection and empathy, but it also causes a number of problems. It causes increases in impulsivity that can put them in danger, it causes emotional outbursts, it reduces your lifespan, it leads to cognitive and motor difficulties, as well as increased anxiety and depression.
William's Syndrome's impact on affection specifically can be a very positive thing, but portraying disabilities as purely positive or as "superpowers" damages disabled people, because it means people are less likely to acknowledge the negative impacts that the disabilities have. I'm not saying this out of anger for you or anyone who talks like this, but calling any disability a superpower is harmful to those who live with those conditions.

@@ka-im5nd i understand. I was commenting a positive thought i had. By mentioning a positive side of who she is, i was not trying to ignor the fact williams syndrom would be very dissabling. It didn't occure to me to comment on any of the less happy or positive aspects of her disability, because she uplifted me with her sweet soul, and i felt inspired by her & wanted to say something positive, because i know alot if people would say negative things. I understand completely what you are saying, and you explained everything beautifully. I hope you understand where i was coming from. 😊

This is the second comment I come across from you that romanticizes this unfortunate and difficult condition. I do believe it's past time you apologize for your naive comments and recognize that Williams syndrome is not something to be praised by any means at all.
The person in this video is not gifted by her condition, it brings a lot of difficulties for her and will continue to throughout her life. Many people are offended by your comments and I am too, rightly so.
I urge you to reconsider your point of view and quit stop justifying your unfortunate and out of place comments.
