Thanks for the videos Gary. I have a watco pro choice iron/sulpher filter with a ws1 clack valve. I’ve noticed two things recently: 1.) water discoloration 2.) backwash tube is slowly dripping. From my research it seems that the valve needs to be rebuilt to fix the drip. Would this account for the water discoloration (rust colored)? I cleaned out the injector and just cleaned the media per your instructions (waiting to see if cleaning the media fixes the discoloration).
It might, but you need to rebuild the valve anyway to stop the dripping so I would do so and see if it helps owjmu12pxzlnsclp-6595447.shopifypreview.com/products/clack-ws1-softener-rebuild-kit
@@water_estore if after cleaning the media and rebuilding the valve, if I don’t see a difference in water clarity, would you recommend a media change? I believe the filter has been in service since 2010ish. Appreciate the feedback!
Hi Gary! This was such a helpful video. My softener looks like it has a bunch of adapters chained together for the air intake. The filter at the end is clogged with gunk and dripping water. Can I just replace it with the one you show or should I be concerned that it's clogged with junk? Could there be a bigger problem?
It could be. What I suggest is to have your water tested and then email us the results. See waterestore.com/pages/free-water-test-evaluation-the-water-estore
Hey Gary! Is there an o-ring inside the drive cap assembly inside where the pin that holds the piston moves in and out? I'm getting a leak between the white gear and the main black piece of the assembly. Changing the spacer stack and piston don't do anything, but putting some silicone grease on the pin seems to slow it down a bit. It's a very small leak and only happens when the piston moves during a regen cycle. Thanks!
I have replaced everything mentioned in this video as my iron/sulfur tank has stopped working as it doesn’t seem to hold the air pocket. I have two valves on the top. Yours was blue but mine is white. The white goes in the “down” hole and then I have a gray one in the “in” hole. Not sure if that makes a difference. My question is, what else is there to replace on the valve, maybe the one way air intake attached by the eclip. Local water folks don’t know. Thanks
After taking the seal pack and piston out is there ever a reason to clean the holes out of metal filter head? I have found my filter holes full of gunk (a technical term) and I have have had issues with my tank not making an air bubble during brine cycle. I have cleaned everything else and all the water people I speak to do not seem to know what the issue is.
Yopu can remove the head, dissassemble it and soak the whole thing in a solution with iron out over night to clean it up. It could be the cause but not likley. Did you replace the injector and clean up the injector pod?
I have cleaned the injector and not replaced yet, cleaned out the hole with an air compressor. I am trying everything. I do have an Ozone box that comes into play with the brine cycle. I purchased a plain air intake as shown in your videos and I will see if that box is causing an issue. I have a FOK iron filter.
Loving all of your videos, totally helping me out can’t afford to fix this on my own water is just discharging from the air valve during regeneration. Why would this be happening? brine tank not emptying. Florida ❤
I have an iron filter with a Clack WS1. The media is Filox. The filter is backwash only, no regeneration. When I first purchased the filter it used to make a fairly loud noise during both cycles of backwash and rinse. However, even after I rebuilt the unit twice in the last 7 years, the system is very quite during backwash and rinse. You wouldn't even know its going through the cycle if you walked up to it. Do you think it's not operating correctly? I inject chlorine ahead of it to raise the PH and the system works great for iron removal. I'm just curious as to why it became so quiet.
@@water_estore thanks Gary for getting back. I checked the flow during backwash out of the drain and it looks good. I think the clogged media could be the culprit, like you said. I suppose I'll empty the tank and see what I see. Maybe it's time for media replacement, even though I hear Filox has a very long life expectancy.
I am getting brown water in all 3 of my toilets when the Regen process starts and am wondering why and where that is coming from, other than the softener. I have a single tank softener with a Clack Ws valve in it…. Your thoughts ? Thanks
If you are getting it while the softener is regenerating it’s because your system is currently off line and that is your raw water. If after, you need to regenerate more often
Gary, when the system backwashes it leave a large amount of air trapped in the water line. As soon as we open a faucet, the air explodes out. What do we do to stop that?
Gary, I have a question...... Let's say that I have 4 of those 55gal plastic Drums full of spring Water from the grocery store for Prepping Purposes. Let's say that after 3 years the water starts to smell. How would I treated? Thanks
If I’m not sure there is gravel in tank and I go to replace the media and there is no gravel but just media I should only replace what is in the tank, correct? I shouldn’t add gravel to the tank if I don’t have gravel
I have my Iron permanganate WS1 filter for over a 2 years, changed the greensand and it started working once again, but after another 2 months water again is smelly, has taste and turns brown in the hottub. I've changed the injector, its sucking the permanganate dry when downbrine, but still no luck. Do you have any clue what could be possibly wrong? :( fighting with it for months now
How much Potassium Permanganate do you have in the feeder? If you dip a paper towel into the water in the feeder, is it purple? It should be. You might need to clean out the feeder.
@@water_estore Thank you so much for taking time to answer me! There's a lot of Permanganate, I've even added 1kg more lately, the water is dark purple, but still no luck. I've even stired it well before regen with a stick and still no luck.

I was wondering what day and time you do the live stream?
You have a great and very informative show.

Do you have a wtaer softener or iron filter. Email us some pictures of where the water is coming out of. info@waterestore.com
Hi Gary,
Bill from Aurora again.
Do the Clack WS1 valve face plates come with a back light, or do I need to bring a flashlight with me?
The faceplates are not backlit. Just the LED screen on the circuit board.

Likely the media is becoming clogged or there is a clog in the drain line restricting the flow.

You can remove some time from the air draw (brine cycle) by making the cycle shorter.

You should not keep water in any container for more than one month.

If that is how it came from the manufacturer and you are using the same media, yes. But that seems odd for an iron filter.
Thank you. I figured, just wanted to double check.
I got 3 houses on one large storagedrank strong sulfur smell. Can I twin a couple of leaves together at storage tank
Yes, it just depends on how much water goes through each one.
