Thank you so so much for all of your videos. I moved to the suburbs from Big City Miami and learning about my iron and sulfur filter and water softener have been such a nightmare but your videos truly have been helping out so much.
Hi Gary. watch your videos and they are great, especially for me that wouldn't know anything about water systems. getting a lot of limescale in water. does the back wash clear that? Thanks you Alan
Hello Gary. Thanks for all the videos. I noticed that you mention that an iron filter does not require that a rinse cycle be programmed. I puzzled. When I phoned the iron filter manufacturer representative, he told me that I need to have a rinse cycle. I'm wondering why there is this disagreement on the need or no need for a rinse cycle? Daniel in WA.
Great question. Depnds on the kind of iron filter. The air over media iron filters (newer technology) uses the air draw as partily as a rinse cycle. If you added a rinse cycle you would lose the air bubble to drain. Older technology systems that don't draw air have a rinse cycle. ruclips.net/video/sx_j7W9z9FQ/видео.html
I really enjoy your videos! I use the 3-button WS1 system to oxidize sulphur from my carbon filter using hydrogen peroxide every four days. What is the correct setting P0 through P9? Mine was installed with the P4 setting. How do you choose which P0 - 5 setting to use? And what concentration H2O2 do you recommend dosing in the brine tank, 7% or 35%? Thank you!
Great Videos Gary! I have a Fleck Control vlv and it’s set for a 15 minute backwash, 30 minute air draw and a 1 minute RR (Rapid Rinse). I noticed that the 1 minute is almost 2 and that rinse knocks my air pad down to about 4” below the valve. That doesn’t seem like enough air exposure for the iron. Should I eliminate this cycle and stick with 2 as mentioned in your video? What amount of space should the air gap be?
We have a functional Clack WS1 on a media tank that was taken out of service in a water softener application. Can we convert it to an air over media iron filter by changing to the correct media in the tank, reprogramming the valve as described here, and adding the air intake? Any other changes that would have to be made? Thanks!
Yes but it needs to be a 5 button valve with 3 buttons on the top and 2 on the bottom. Also, it need to have a tank big enough and flow restrictors sized to the tank and the media. It will take considerable work to convert it over.
Gary. All the videos are great. I have a ws1 fok the system works great with one problem. I have red water iron the system backwashes then rinses then air draw. The problem is after air draw it passes back over backwash on its way back to service. This only last a couple of seconds but is enough to discolor the first 5-10 gallons of water After that the water is clear again. Is there a way to not pass back over the backwash cycle when going back to service. Thanks
Another great video Gary! I have my iron filter valve set to 15min backwash and 45 min air draw, but still get a metallic smell and some discoloration in my water, which after sitting in a cup for 3 to 5 minutes turns yellow (clear water iron that oxidizes I am assuming). What's the max time I can set for the air draw cycle to see if increasing the air bubble helps? Is this the right thing to do? Thank you!!

Hey Gary, I have the HUM FOK iron and sulphur filter from you folks along with the HUM 30k softener with manganese mesh - for the filter settings, after 3 days, it does a regen. Can this be extended without damaging the media or is 3 days the max? Thanks again for all of these great vids!

@@water_estore Thank you for the confirmation. Also my filter is set to softening not filter I just run the backwash and draw cycle now and it works great. Should I still change it to filtering from softening or is there really no difference in value performance?

Hello Gary, will there ever be a reason why my Iron Filter ClackCorp Valve shows "SOFTENING DN POST" as opposed to "FILTERING DN POST"? With the "SOFTENING DN POST" setting, I could only see 2 times set, being a "Backwash Time" setting of 25 minutes and a "Draw Dn Time" setting of 60 minutes; When I scroll through the settings all others are OFF or not set. I have a pretty big system in my house (1.5" valve, and 22GPM Demand), the controller valve is made of Cast Iron. Initially, the Iron Filter times were lower, and the filter turned on every 3 days. For some apparent reason, this was not enough, and it caused the Injector to get clogged up and was not taking in any air. I had it serviced, and the technician was able to clean the injector. During his visit, he increased the times to 25BW/60DDN and was going to set it to turn on ever 2 days (I am guessing to avoid the injector from getting clogged up with Iron). I asked him to have it turn on everyday as I wanted to flush out and clean my cylinder (approximately 60" high x 18" wide) and all my plumbing. My WS1 always has a backwash after the Brine stage. No clue why. It does it for 30 seconds even though I only have 2 stages programmed and everything off afterwards. Im stuck programming it on softening mode which I feel is not optimal. I have a Hague 800 that is set for a 10 minute backwash and a 40 minute brine using the softening setting. I feel like I never get a large air pocket and that it is drawn out too soon when using water.
I can change the setting to filtering. But when I try to enter the next menu by twice pressing next-down, nothing happens. I tried unplugging the power clip at the board for a minute+, still nothing, did the same with battery out, still nothing. It is a new board, please help.
The next-down twice press does not work with the new version (9D) of the control board. It only accepts the pre-programmed P# codes to set regen time cycles, none of which gives a 15 minute backwasf/30 minute slow regen. Always get a fast rinse at the end, which expels the air space needed for sulfur filtering. Is there any work around?
that is the back wash cycle so you should have lots of water flowing to drain. If not, the connecting rod to the piston is likely broken. You will need a new Drive End Cap. contact us at info@waterestore.com and we can get you a quote on the repalcement.

I can’t seem to access the setting with next and up at the same time…it had been working but now when I try that it just shows the number of days until next backwash…any tips?.
Reset the board buy unplugging it at the board, wait one minute and then plug it back in.
Gary tjis is cyndy how do i change the battery if i do.does that mean the whole system needs to be reprogrammed and how do we do that
My WS1 always has a backwash after the Brine stage.
How many control buttons oin the front of you WS1?
@@water_estore 5 all in a straight row
How to do it with 3buttons head?
You can't. Programming not available so you would need to upgrade to 5 button. This video shows you how.
I can change the setting to filtering. But when I try to enter the next menu by twice pressing next-down, nothing happens. I tried unplugging the power clip at the board for a minute+, still nothing, did the same with battery out, still nothing. It is a new board, please help.
Once you change to filtering you need to keep pressing next until you get to the end. Then press next-down twice and proceed
When I hold down arrows to regen, it shows C1 9. I here the valve spinning but no water starts flowing.
that is the back wash cycle so you should have lots of water flowing to drain. If not, the connecting rod to the piston is likely broken. You will need a new Drive End Cap. contact us at info@waterestore.com and we can get you a quote on the repalcement.
Mine works great
Glad to hear yours works. Please share the video with your friends and family
i have first home with well. Would this work for iron bacteria.
No, for iron bacteria you need a chemical injection system.
