In the day, a fueling problem that got most everyone on a BMW was forgetting to turn the petcock to the reserve position. That was high tech then. Lol. Luck be with you on the GS's!!! Glad your new bike brings smiles and at a lower cost. I think you'll be riding it more then the beautiful R K. 👍👍
The BMW story reminds me of looking at the 2008 Spyder GS wiring diagram last week, and recalling how complex that seemed back when they came out... Technology sure changes fast! Took me 4 years to finally take the good 'ol RK for a proper road trip, only to find I love using the versatility of a big ADV bike for that role. I knew back in 2021 that if I was ever to purchase one, it would be the Pan America. This deal just came together out of the clear blue and I couldn't be happier... 👌 Thanks so much John!! 👍

Man, I think the room temperature when up 20º once I realized it..! Was shocked when I went up to tell the guys and was told they're both getting a new driveshaft installed. Dodged a bullet on that one! 👌 Thanks Doug!! 👍👊
I guess someone will be checking chassis numbers more closely from here on in....🙂 We just use Registration numbers in the UK...You can see at a quick glance (no two are the same in the UK)
I just shake my head in disapproval at the newer BMWs. I have a 1986 BMW R80. It's so much simpler and easier to maintain. Despite its age, it does all the bike things very nicely too... good suspension, braking and handling with enough power to put a smile on my face. A lot lighter as well. I find the older airhead BMWs just offer a more pleasant riding experience.
The one time the customer will be happy and you get to keep that wonderful hair on your head. Lol. Don’t beat yourself up. You make that kind of mistake once in a blue moon. Take two chill pills and DON’T call me in the morning🤪. Stay safe and try it again tomorrow. Only this time read EVERYTHING!!👍🏽😎
37,000 Miles and up the 1st time the bulletin is performed. After that, there is a service schedule for checking it every 12K miles, that they are paying for at this point. The shaft is recommended to be replace every 30K miles thereafter, that I'm not sure they pay for at this point... Thanks Rob!! 👍
