A new "hobby" I picked up is that I started writing letters to my friends and drawing them postcards. I gave myself permission to send my friends the worst possible drawings. It got me doing more art, and my friends get a silly surprise in the mail.

One of my fav. Things to calm me down is to make a cup of tea and drink it with full concentration... Like I only drink in that time... No social media, no phone call, not even a book... Smelling and sipping the tea intently... Just brings me so much joy....

I started embroidery during the pandemic and I plan to do that once again when winter comes. I make organic skincare and herbal salves, and am a healer so most of my time is already creating.

I’m sorry your summer isn’t going well. My summer has also been really tough and it’s still on going. I hope it gets better for us.
I think just taking a proper shower, turning on music that makes you feel calm or good, taking the extra steps to do a body scrub, a hair mask/face mask, just pamper yourself helps me. I think sometimes the hardest part sometimes is just starting. To start getting into the hobbies that bring you joy, self care etc. Once I start I usually feel better afterwards. Taking a walk with my dog, exercising, just getting ready even if I have no where to go, disconnect from socials, make a list of what needs to be done and tackle the easy stuff so there’s less on my plate, it all helps.
The over arching theme of this year for me is just giving myself grace, practicing gratitude and to open up to friends and family about my emotions. When I’m having a bad day, I need to give myself grace and not beat myself up over it. I try to hold onto the idea of “this too shall pass” mentality because it will. I also try to practice gratitude because when times are tough, there is still so much to be grateful for and can help put certain stressors into perspective. I’m not an open person with my emotions but I’m pushing myself to and its not only helped me but helps me build even stronger connections with the people that care about me. If anyone else is struggling just know you’re not alone and it does get better ❤️‍🩹

I’m going through a breakup and I started a new routine. I bought speciality coffee and make myself a cappuccino every morning and then go on my balcony and read a chapter or two of my book and start my day that way. It’s been very relaxing and a great start to the day.
I also started journaling, everytime I feel a strong emotion, the way I release it is by taking a pen and writing all about it in my journal.
Also, I googled some shadow work questions and answer them from time to time.
And music!! Good music! Dancing or pretending I’m giving a performance in my apartment gets my serotonin up up up!
Light makeup also even though I’m not leaving the house. Everytime I pass by any mirror I feel cute and that makes me happier. :)

I am sorry that you are struggling with your mental health. By creating this video you brought joy to so many others! I’ve been struggling lately by loosing doctors right and left and it has been such a strain. It sounds trivial but my pain therapist retired, my fibro specialist retired, my primary care of over 20 years retiring in September and my pain doctor had a minor heart attack and is over 70 so I am expecting that letter any day. So I guess my new hobby is find a herd of great young doctors? Scent is one of my favorite mood boosters. I wear it every day 99% for me, and I no longer save the good stuff! Our dog Tabitha brings me great joy and forces me to seek fresh air. I have an obsession with beautiful paper and luxury boxes. I love fine China but my collection is much like the boxes and I’m not Martha Stewart nor do I live in the White House with my own China pantry. I can’t decide if my next hobby should be learning how to crochet or knit. Love the little counter doo-dah! Gift giving is another one of my hobbies. I try to find the perfect objects or experiences to all of my family and friends and it brings me the most joy.

I definitely wouldn't say that's trivial! I'm in and out of the Dr's office myself (autoimmune stuff) and up until yesterday (rip, the goodest old boy, hence why I'm here trying to distract myself) the vet was a lot the same. Finding a good doctor for ANYTHING is insanely hard! Especially for chronic issues! Hope you find someone who listens to you amd knows their stuff.

I am a witness to the power of cat owning and its benefits for mental health. I still live with my parents (out of necessity since housing is so expensive where I live) and they always very much disliked cats. I loved all animals but never thought of owning a cat when I was little since my parents disliked them so much. Cats dislike my father a lot (they still do) and my mom thinks they have "weird energy". Turns out, during the pandemic, I saw an ad for some recue kittens up for adoption. I asked my mom like I ask everyday about dogs and she, surprisingly, out of nowhere, said yes. I was researching owning a cat for a while so I was sort of prepared for it. I picked my cat Artemis in the beginning of the pandemic. She is absolutely everything to me. I wake up happy because I will see her there when I wake up. I go to sleep happy because she makes it a point to sleep with me, at the same time, everyday, no matter what time I lay down. She waits for me at the door everyday when I come back from work. She taps my arm when she wants me to stop stressing and give her a little attention. I got so much more healthy mentally when I got her that my mom says that the cat is our biggest blessing during the past few years. She loves the cat. My dad loves the cat (the cat is not very fond of him but still). She is the most pampered little cat and the current owner of the house. I love her to bits. Get a cat. Just do it. They are not inta-love such as dogs most of the time, but you learn to love them and their personalities.

This video is the kick I need to just GIVE IT A TRY! Something I love for myself is having actual physical magazine subscriptions! I think we have collectively as a society forgotten how fun it is to receive stuff in the mail, and it's just so exciting when you can set aside time for yourself to read a new magazine that arrives in your mailbox. Here for the crochet content 😝❤️🤣. Not gonna lie, the rabbit arm looked a little... well... perhaps the most polite way to say it is, scandalous 🤣

I play animal crossing while I listen to / watch my favorite podcast, beauty YTer (like you Jamie!!) or show. It's goal oriented game and it just passes the time and I can dive into a fantasy world where animals talk and live on your island and all you have to do is catch fish and bugs.
