Another great reaction Amanda. There were 3 times when I first got home from Afghanistan that I had a gun in my hand and when I was just about to pull the trigger of that .357 Magnum my sister called me. Three times this happened. It was like she could read my mind. As you know she passed away last December from Covid. I miss her in many ways. I owe her my life and now she's gone. Just like I owe you my life. I would gladly give up my life for hers, but life does not work that way. Her dying is not a demon like I still have from combat. It just hurts the same!!! Big hug my only sister Amanda, SSG. I can relate to this song, even though I don't care for country music. I was in my bathroom, I filled the tub up with water. While I was still fully dressed, shoes and all, so whoever found me would know without a doubt that this was not an accident.. I stepped in the tub, laid down and submerged my body in the water. I was just about to start letting the water in my lungs when I suddenly heard my phone ring from my bedroom. Out of simple curiosity, I got out of the tub and answered the phone. It was my best friend. He just wanted to know if I could come over to play video games or something. Of course I said, "sure". He had no idea what almost had happened. If he had waited five minutes longer to call me, it would have been five minutes to late. He still doesn't know.
Anyway Amanda, keep fighting. Don't even think about second guessing your self worth. You have and will continue to touch the lives around you. And through the platform of RUclips, you touch the lives of more people than you can count. And as requested, you mean a lot to me and are a very special person. For all the reasons I have mentioned and many more. I know you want me to say that to someone else, but even you too need to hear it from time to time

First of all, Amanda, no judgement here. Thank you for sharing your past and pain.
Now, back to the song. After the first few lines of the first verse, I started crying uncontrollably. You can't see me, but I'm a big guy, shaved head, big Viking beard. Now my beard is wet.
The second verse didn't hit me as hard (because I've never been in that situation), until you stared crying. I cried with you through the rest of the video.
You stay strong, because some large Viking looking guy out there might need help and your voice may be what gets them through another lonely night. ❤

I spent 10 months in Iraq back in 04-05. I'm now considered totally and permently disabled because of depression/PTSD
In 2010 while fighting with my then girlfriend I took a handful of pills. I woke up thee days later in the ICU with tubes in places they shouldn't have been. After getting out of the psych ward month later I checked my email and I'll never forgot the response from a friend that was the electronic equivalent. Of incoherent screaming because she had been told I was dead. I've said that to say this she is the one that introduced me to this song by telling me that I was her call. Thank you for this video

It is rare to see such raw and honest outpouring of such powerful emotions like this, and I know there are people who need to see this, people who are struggling to know that they aren't the only ones who feel that way. So, on their behalf, thank you for your bravery, and thank you for being so genuine. When I woke up at the hospital, I didn't think I was going to make it. I guess God had other plans. I was 18 when it happened, I am 23 now and I pray every day I don't have to go through it again. This is by far the hardest reaction I've done and I agonized for hours whether to post it. But I think it's an important part of the mental health stigma, so I will take the heat to help the ones who need it most.
💖While I always encourage you to share your mental health stories, I want to extend that to day and especially encourage you to open up about pregnancy, parenting, post partum, abortion, adoption. No judgment here. You're safe to talk about ALL of the feelings and emotions here. This is how we shatter the stigma. 💖

Love this song and your reaction. It takes great courage to bare your soul the way you did. I myself should not even be walking this Earth. I suffer depression. I have been to that point. I tied the noose. I wrapped it around my neck and I let go. I watched my vision go black and felt my body get very light. The next thing I knew I was laying on the floor looking up at the noose unbroken...uncut...still hanging there. I don't know what or who saved me. But I am still here. That feeling of wanting to leave this life still lingers but I always remember that time and that day. Never take this life for granted or the people in it. Life is such a fragile thing. Thank you Amanda for helping to end the stigma of what people like us go through. Thank you.

Amanda, I saw this video tonight and I wanted to share with you that about 18 months ago on the day that my ex-wife left unannounced, my existing depression and anxiety hit an all time low and it was my brother Mark whom I met in college who was that call that literally saved my life as he called me seconds before I attempted vehicular suicide. I am retired military an much like me, a brother who I've known since we were 5 and were in the same platoon with, took his own like 3 weeks ago and we laid him to rest a week an a half ago (a week to the day before Thanksgiving and I feel responsible for that because in our daily conversations, I missed his change in tone. I miss that man more than I can say and I pray that you continue your recovery and know that you ARE ENOUGH! GOD BLESS YOU and thank you for providing this platform.

Based on her vlogs, I don’t believe Amanda had an abortion. I think her reaction was in response to her miscarriage about a year ago. She didn’t get the metaphorical call. Or/and she didn’t get any support as this was around the time of her divorce. Not that this is a pro/con abortion comment. No judgement. I’m a guy and can’t possibly process the emotions around pregnancy.

I actually struggle with major depression and PTSD. 12 years ago when I was 17 I watched my mom die of a heart attack which got me really depressed and I was threatening to commit suicide, do drugs, self harm like everything because of how depressed I was without my mom and my aunt ended up putting me in a mental health ward which really made my dad mad. Now I still struggle with flashbacks of her death but I'm slowly finding peace with the help of my therapist and a band Citizen Soldier that writes songs about mental health

I’m so sorry for the pain you’ve been through and the struggles you’re facing with depression and PTSD. Losing your mom at such a young age must have been incredibly traumatic, and it's understandable that you’ve had a hard time processing that loss. It’s good to hear that you’re finding some peace with the help of your therapist and through the music of Citizen Soldier. Music can be a powerful tool for healing and understanding, especially when it addresses mental health struggles directly. Your journey is a testament to your resilience and strength. It’s important to keep reaching out for support and to find the outlets that help you navigate these challenges. If you ever want to talk, feel free to message me on IG: @mentalamanda

Hey Amanda, I found your channel earlier this week and watched my first video of you reacting to the awesome song Popular Monster. At first I was like "Hey this video may be good and she's really beautiful" I have since then been watching videos of songs that you've reacted, the songs that I like. The more videos I watched, the more I see you are not just really beautiful, but that you are a wonderful person with a blessed, and wonderful soul. When I watched this video and see you break down crying near the end, I really wanted to give you a big hug. My wife's life was very difficult when we started talking, she was very suicidal, PTSD, BPD, all mainly because of an ex she was dating that abused her for like 6 months. This was the time we were still in High school. I won't lie it was super difficult to deal and try to help her when she has her episodes and it's really scary to see in person. Took a toll on me but I never gave up on her, now she is a lot better and is handing the feelings and pain a lot better than before. We now have been together for almost 6 years, married for almost 4 years, and have our own house. We also have a beautiful 8 month old son, we look forward to the future that has in store for us. I just very very recently join your wolf pack group on Facebook, and looking forward to the group. Keep strong, Amanda, and keep doing what you are doing spreading awareness and talks in the beginning of each videos, and during the videos. I love your video and I love you.

New subscriber here... I have always been a cheerful kind of guy. I've never had depression or been so angry as to do something crazy. I never could understand how things could be so bad after two of my friends committed suicide. That is until my youngest daughter, at the age of 24, took pills to end her life after she broke up with her live-in fiancé. They still lived in the same house but separately. Her ex called me one morning and said he couldn't wake her up. He said that he had to go to work and could I check on her? They lived on the same street as my wife and I went over. I found her on the floor unconscious. Her vitals were nearly undetectable. I loaded her into my truck and made a beeline for the hospital 15 miles away. I was so scared. Fortunately, the doctors were able to counteract the drugs and she suffered no lasting harm. She was in counseling for nearly a year and is now a mental health counselor. I am a registered nurse and have received training in suicide warning signs but I missed every sign. You and my daughter have many things in common. She is huge into Zen and crystals. She is married now with two beautiful kids.

I remember when I first heard this song.. I related so much to the first person in this song.. on the verge of goodbye, waiting for the call from someone who cares about me.... but you've given me an even brighter light on the second story in this video..... I don't believe abortion should be regulated, nor do I believe it should be illegal. There are many reasons someone may need an abortion.. I may have gotten off topic there, but this song means SO much to me.. Just the meaning behind it, ever since I first heard it as a kid, people need people.. you reaching out to someone even to say
hey. how you doin' can really make a difference.. love you and thank you for being so open and speaking about these kind of things..

Abortion really messes not just the girl but everyone up. My ex had an abortion while carrying my child and she didn't tell me until weeks later. It broke me. Made me deeply alcoholic and to this day I can't even sexually touch a woman cuz all I think if she gets pregnant I'll lose another child. It's been 5 years. I've had a gf but broke up because I wouldn't have sex. I just can't. It really broke me and any desire to ever have sex again

But I see a strond woman inside you that one day will stand over all those troubles and dramas.
I personally heard this particular song some years ago and forgot about it... Thanks to your video it came back to my mind and reminded me to keep an eye on my surrounding, friends etc.
Everyone may be in such a situation and needs help - or this call as mentioned in the song.
I wish you all the best on your way. Stay strong!
    Greetings from Germany, Michael

Its not just teens or adults either. My little one wasnt doing well after losing his grandfather. We got him on meds, got him with a psycologist. But it wasnt helping much. One night as i was getting him ready for bed he told me he was going to see grandpa. I could have brushed it off. I could have assumed he was being silly. Instead i asked him how he was going to do that. I then found out he was set on killing himself to join him. He had the plan made and everything. I assured him he was not in trouble, that he did the right thing telling me. Then we went straight to the hospital. He spent almost 2 weeks in the ER and psychiatric hospital. I hadnt known they had them for babies but his facility took kids as little as 6. Poor kid had been hearing a voice telling him to do it for months. Had i blown off that simple comment i dont know what would have happened. I later found out i knew several friends who had been there with their tiny ones, one only 7. People downplay kids feelings so much but babies get depressed too. Hes now on meds and in therapy.

Thank you for sharing such a deeply personal and important experience. I'm so happy that your child's words seriously and acted swiftly to get him the help he needed. Children’s feelings and mental health issues can often be overlooked or underestimated, but your response shows how crucial it is to listen and respond with compassion and urgency. It’s heartening to hear that he’s now receiving the support he needs through medication and therapy. Your actions undoubtedly made a significant difference in his life, and your story sheds light on the importance of addressing mental health concerns in children with the same seriousness and care as we would for adults.

I realize that this video is from a while back but I need you to know if you read this….
I was in a very dark place tonight and you were my call!
I have no idea how or why I found your channel, I was looking for Five Finger Death Punch and accidentally pushed the button and found your reaction.
Please know that you made me chose a pot of coffee over something else.
This may not be appropriate to say but I love you for who and what you are.

I have been in the position of the guy. Blaine Larsen's How do you get that lonely stopped me from taking a huge bottle of pills. As for the couple, though I haven't been in that position, I have thought I was pregnant and the guy that would have been the father if I had been told me if I was pregnant to get an abortion. This is after he knew my thoughts on that. I am prochoice, it is just a decision that I feel I could nvr make.

About 6 years ago, my husband and I was going through hard times in our marriage. Every time i ended up pregnant, it always ended up in miscarriages. We started arguing really badly every day until he told me he wanted a divorce. I still loved him so much that I wanted to work it out but he didn't. I was so depressed that i tried to kill myself 3 times. 2 times i tried to cut my wrist and 1 time i tried to drown myself in the tub. At the time, i had a really good guy friend and his mom and sister staying with me at the time. All 3 times, he walked in on me trying to commit suicide. It was like he knew what i was trying to do. He told his mom what i was trying to do and when i got out of the bathroom, she sat me down and all of us had a long talk. I'm so happy they was there or else I wouldn't have had the chance to get back together with my husband and have a wonderful baby girl who is now 5 years old.
